We chose this gasthaus for an overnight stay on our way from Vienna to Salzburg based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor, and were very disappointed. First of all, it took us almost an hour to find the place with no prior indications given with the reservation which would make it a lot easier. Instead of that we had... More

Melk, a small town, a village. Best (only?) attraction: the abbey. We were going from Salzburg to Wien by car. Decided for a stop to visit the beautiful abbey. The hotel is accopled with the same name restaurant, like a bed and breakfast system, with private bath. Small room, no facilities, just for one night stay. Checking out? "No credit... More

We stayed one night at Madar Café Restaurant zum Fursten in May 2016. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant; eating lunch and supper as well as breakfast which was provide with the room. The location is excellent. The only complaint was that our room was a little musty. This we solved by opening the window but then we had... More

This place fitted the bill for a one nigher to visit Melk Abbey. Excellently located (easy walk with a suitcase from Railway) under the walls of the Abbey and only a short walk to it. Located in a delightful little square and connected to an excellent little cafe which provided a good breakfast. *** Read the Small print. Payment can... More

Must say that it's a great place to stay with friendly staff, but would not recommend the restaurant at all! We arrived earlier than expected and staff allowed us to check in early so we didn't need to lug our bags around. We had a top floor room (accessible only by stairs), and the room was furnished with lovely quaint,... More

our accommodation could not have been more central, just a short walk uphill to impressive Melk Abbey and overlooking the main street of this delightful town with cobblestoned winding roads. Our room and bathroom were basic but clean and functional - no frills at this reasonable price. Bonus: Wifi and parking was free. Their cosy cafe/restaurant had a reasonably priced... More

This pension is located behind the Abbey and in the center of town. I think the only con was the stairs, which are cumbersome with luggage, but that's Europe for you; deal or get out. Other than that, the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and fluent in English, and the food in the café downstairs is very good.... More

Day four of Danube cycle. Sited right in town centre overlooking the fountain and square with restaurant below. Lock-up area for bikes around the back. Rooms were clean, light, bright and airy. We were upgraded (room 2), it was massive. More like an apartment with additional sofa, table & chairs, fridge, large bathroom with bath and separate shower. With windows... More

I stayed for two nights with my mom in May. The room (overlooking a little square) was large and spacious, with a sitting area, antique wardrobe and a comfortable bed. The wi-fi worked well. The view from the room was unreal - just like a postcard. The bathroom was clean and adequate even if the decor seemed a bit dated.... More

Fantastic location. Rooms in the back are literally right below the abbey. My other family members had rooms in the front. They were not disturbed by late-night partyers, but street cleaners had very loud equipment at 6 30 am. Definitely go for a rear room. My only disturbance was an-overly-entitled American moaning about lack of parking space. People like that... More
