Ideally located in the Carre d'Or, a few steps from the casino, the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. This luxurious Belle Epoque style property was built in 1886. It was entirely renovated by acclaimed French architect Jacques Garcia, who created a palace of 125 rooms and suites combining glamour, sophistication and sensoriality with Mediterranean charm, in tune with the times. In 2017, this expert in design and luxury revamped the main public areas to further enchant them. Executive Chef Christophe Cussac invites you to live a unique and convivial culinary experience within the footsteps of his ‘spiritual father’, the late Joel Robuchon. The Metropole Monte-Carlo Restaurant is currently closed for renovations and will reopen in April 2022. Yoshi, the only Japanese restaurant on the Cote d'Azur to be awarded a Michelin star since 2010, showcases typical Japanese cuisine in a contemporary and daring decor by Didier Gomez. Odyssey is a charming poolside restaurant within a ‘haute couture’ setting designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Finally, the Lobby Bar, with its glamorous, elegant and warm ambience, for all sweet and savoury taste buds. The House of Givenchy opened its third Spa in the world, the Spa Metropole by Givenchy in April 2017 at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo. Also designed by architect Didier Gomez and ideally integrated into the Palace, the Spa Metropole by Givenchy embodies the philosophy of the House's core values: the choice of an exceptional location, with the luxury of space, sophistication of treatments, and a haven for absolute pleasure and well-being.

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the stay. Rooms are French classic retrofitted with amenities. Suite is roomy with ample closets and beautiful bath. Room service is great with quick delivery. Pricey hotel but in Monaco. Great location. Walking distance to casino, park, restaurants and shopping. Great gym at spa. Food is also very good. Enjoyable stay.

Perfect location. Beautiful hotel. Wonderful swimming pool. Extremely helpful and talented concierge. The entire experience was excellent. Walking distance to the main attractions and shopping, we would come back to the beautiful long drive way to an oasis from hustle and bustle.

Hotel not 5 star. It has cigarette smell and pollutants that irritated throat. Rooms are not 5 star quality. Horrible customer service as lady at front desk was not helpful and had annoying smirk on face. Kind of insulting. Stay away. We checked in and checked out right away as I couldn’t stay here due to the cigarette smell and possible dust allergy was causing me to feel unwell. If you like luxury and cleanliness then definitely don’t stay here. It’s a big letdown.

We have just returned after a stay in The Metropole in Monaco and we had the most amazing time. The hotel is very centrally located and an absolutely stunning entrance down the drive. The reception is also beautiful. The staff were wonderful and especially Hans who we had the pleasure of meeting every morning for breakfast. Every single staff member acknowledged us everytime we walked past and it was a genuine acknowledgment which always makes me feel they know a lot about customer service. The highlight for me was the pool. Where the hotel is dark and dated the pool was very modern and bright. It was never overly busy and the staff once again we're very friendly. It was so clean and the saltwater pool was a delight to swim in. The only thing, and this will be all hotels, is that drinks were so expensive we didn't bother after the first order and we noticed not many people were ordering either. We were in Monaco so to be expected I suppose. I've only put four stars due to our room. We let the hotel know ahead of time that it was my 50th birthday celebration yet we had a note that congratulated two people (not our names) on their engagement. We didn't mention it and I'm sure if I did they would have sorted it out but it seemed a little indulgent to expect something and by that point it was too late. The room was dark due to the location of it and unfortunately damp. Our clothes became damp and anything that got wet, never dried, not even our swimming costumes. We ended up turning the heating up even though it was hot outside. This did solve it. The staff did phone to check as I mentioned it and they offered me a dehumidifier. They also cleared the bill of 12 EU (a coke by the pool) and gave us a lift to the train station which was very much appreciated. I think a change of room would have been my desired outcome. Anyway apart from that I really do rate it as a hotel mainly for the location pool and staff and we would stay again! Thank you to Hans once again, you were a lovely charming man.

I personally don’t recommend to stay in this hotel for the following reasons: 1) you can get your room only at 16.00 pm. And even if it is ready earlier (that was our case) nobody bother to call you before. 2) we made a reservation at Yoshi restaurant long time in advance but when we came there it was closed because of the rain. Nobody tried to call us. 3) The recommendations of the hotel for all other restaurants were simply attempts to get rid of uncontrollable guests. We were left hungry at the end. Not even proper apologies from the manager. And this is a five star hotel in Monaco?!

I stay at many luxury hotels around the world and found this to be one of the best. The rooms are slightly dated but in a classic way that I felt actually lent to the charm of the hotel. All of the necessary amenities were still there. The location is unparalleled and the grounds are magnificent. When I was looking at hotels, I was worried that this pool wouldn't be nice because it didn't have a direct view of the water but it was beautiful and exceeded my expectations. There are also so many other viewpoints that it was not necessary to have the pool be right on the ocean. The spa and fitness center were also great, but perhaps the best part of the hotel was the staff. They addressed me by name as I walked through the hotel and attended to every need and desire. Having a beautiful place to pull in with your car is also rare in Monaco so I loved that feature too.

My wife and I stayed at the Metropole Hotel for a week to celebrate her birthday Although we have stayed many times it continues to excel in every respect. The staff throughout the hotel and pool area nothing short of exceptional Serge Ethuin and his staff are remarkable. There is simply no other hotel in the south of France that can compete

This was our first time to Monaco so perhaps it's less an issue with the hotel and more a reflection of the city-state in general, which certainly has a cold and superficial quality from our observation. Me, my wife, and our child that came to the hotel for one night in order to be close to our evening reservation at Mirazur in Menton. We had previously stayed 4 nights in Nice and had a perfectly wonderful time, and thought perhaps a different experience could be fun for the last night. The hotel itself, including the lobby area, is certainly beautiful and has a luxurious feel. Check-in was nothing out of the ordinary, though the individual at reception suggested we should park our car with them for EUR 40 rather than at the public casino lot nearby, which he claimed would be EUR 60 (in fact it was only EUR 25 for a 24 hour period). The room seamed very nice, though the City View promised when we booked was merely a sliver from the balcony, and most of the view was of the roof of the lower part of the hotel. I know that other reviewers have noted this but lack of power outlets are a major flaw. All of the existing outlets are taken up by lamps / appliances (except for the one in the bathroom), and there was nothing by the bed at all (since those lamp wires went behind the bed and were thus inaccessible). You can forget about USB outlets. I had understood there were some recent renovations but what they were, I couldn’t tell you – maybe the use of a tablet for the room service menu? The kicker was when we went to the hotel pool, not even one hour into our stay. I had put some towels down on the pool chairs and went swimming with our son. My wife came down and went to lay on the chairs about 10 minutes later. A few minutes after, I noticed a pool attendant come over and speak with my wife. I should point out that she’s African American and we are a mixed couple. I had thought she was being asked for a drink order but body language suggested otherwise. I went over and in fact she was being asked her room number and booking last name, something that I had not observed occur with anyone else at the pool (there did not appear to be any other person of color at the pool). While the attendant claimed he was checking with everyone, that just wasn’t the case. Furthermore, he never did ask her if she wanted something – it was clearly a different experience with her and bias was really the only plausible explanation. She went to discuss this issue with the manager and was told something similar – that everyone was checked and nothing untoward was intended. The manager further noted that they HAD to check as people would often come from outside to the pool – something that I would think is plainly impossible given that we were asked about our reservation at least three times between when we entered the hotel property and were checked in. I’m assuming there isn’t some easily accessible back door. Overall, this horrible experience is certainly enough to ensure we won’t be back. A less minor inconvenience than the discriminatory behavior noted above included air conditioning that didn’t seem to make the room colder / less stuffy, even at the lowest setting (given the experience thus far and that we were only staying a night, we didn’t bother complaining about that). Lastly, it may be petty but given the apparent luxury of the hotel, I was confused that the bed was two doubles pulled together rather than an actual king. As a final insult to injury, I realize that this is Monaco – but EUR 12 for a Coke?

Don't get me wrong. This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The welcome drink and snacks are lovely. But there is no warmth for the people who work here. I am a woman staying alone who has repeatedly been ignored, overlooked and pushed to the side. I asked the concierge for recommended walks. He handed me a map and said to always go left. Not a single person offered service at the pool to me, but when a couple sat next to me a waiter approached them immediately. I left my seat to get a drink and when I came back my umbrella had been taken. I then changed seats and was told that the seat I was in was reserved for some boys. Over two hours later they still weren't at the pool. What upsets me the most is that my reservation came with the opportunity to upgrade to a higher class of rooms if they were available. I was told at check in that nothing was available, but when I looked online there were rooms. The room I got was clean and very comfortable. They even left me a bottle of wine. However, the room's window was blocked by a construction site that let in no light. The bedside light flickered and made reading impossible and there is nowhere other than the bathroom to charge electronics. I paid over 600 euros per night. I was overcharged.

We have stayed in the majority of hotels in Monaco but not this one, so thought we would try it this summer for a short trip to the SoF. The hotel itself is very dated, along with the rooms. In addition to this, service from reception was non-existent and we could not get through to them when calling from the room. I had to call the concierge desk and ask them to put us through to reception and this was not always successful. The bathroom in the room was a good size but again, very dated. In addition to this, the sink did not drain out the water. Despite reporting this issue to the reception desk (face to face), the issue was not resolved and no body bothered to follow up. Upon raising a complaint about the issue (after checking out), the customer relation team reverted by stating that the reception desk had no record of the issue being reported. It’s appalling that guests are expected to pay the full room rate (approx. EUR 1,000 per night) when a room is not fully functioning. In addition to this, we have effectively been accused of raising a false claim, as no issue with the sink was logged with the house keeping team. In addition to this, our billing on check out was incorrect and we had not been charged for some items consumed by the pool. Their systems are clearly archaic and it took a very long time for the invoice to be corrected. There was also little appreciation for our honesty regarding costs not invoiced. I guess very few people ask for bills to be corrected if they gain from charges not invoiced. The only real positive about the hotel is the pool. This is really lovely and staff servicing this area are great. However, if you’re looking to stay in Monaco, I would opt for other renowned hotels with better facilities and true 5 star service. This hotel does not treat it’s guests well when there are issues/complaints. The only compensation offered was a room upgrade on our next stay. Not sure why they would expect guests to return given the awful experience and poor service experienced!
