Detailed Reviews
The attitude of the receptionist was a big clue to the experience we would have here. As I entered the lobby I said, ‘Hello my name is …….I’ve made a reservation for four nights’. Yes, I have you reservation here. Great I said, would you like my passport? Hey, Just give us a minute will you was her response. As if I was rushing her. Some other new guests came in behind us and she was even ruder to them.
The stairs leading up to the apartment were cracked and crumbling away. Later we found there was no light on the stairwell. As we entered the room she said she could not remember if we had ordered a studio or not but gave us one anyway as she liked to give the nicer rooms to English guests!
The room to be fair is large but poorly equipped and on closer inspection rather dirty. The forks are bent, no dessert spoons. Odd array of plates and the rack they stood in was rusted.
I’d say keep away and find a better place to stay. We were tempted by the price and had not read the reviews.
Internet is very very poor.
Lots of hot water.

Despite the fancy name, the hotel isn’t like that at all. It’s old, worn out, and not very clean.
+ the breakfast was okay, the linens were very white and clean, and the rooms are big. Well, those are more like apartments. Ours had 3 rooms, the bathroom and the kitchen.
- the furniture is old, the WIFI works only at the reception, the AC from 80’s costs additionally €5/day, cockroaches - I saw a huge one at the kitchen once.
So what I can say, that this option makes sense only for a short stay (not more than 2 nights). On the other hand, for the same money you can do better in the Upper Town

We stayed in 2009 and the place was a great base, however the air con leaked and the maids did not clean this up this was on our first night (Great) Our rep told us that we would now be allowed free air con however on check out they tried to charge 80 euros which we refused to pay. The apartments are in a great location and i cant really be too picky for what i payed for 2 weeks.

First impression was not good. Only two small coffee cups and a teaspoon. No glasses at all. Nothing to wipe down surfaces etc. Broken sockets, hole in a door, towels hanging on a hangar and a few other 'not what you expect in a hotel' issues.
But..... the reception staff are great. Very friendly. The cleaning staff, well, they didn't. All they did in 7 days is empty the poo bin in the bathroom. Not really acceptable. Especially as nothing is provided to clean anything yourself.
The worst bit is the pool. No sun until mid afternoon and nothing like the photos.
Now the good bits.... always hot water, good shower, good flushing toilet and although very noisy the beds are actually very comfortable.
The proximity to bars and taverns saves the hotel. As does the parking in road outside.
I agree with other reviewers who state that the hotel is tired and in need of some money spent.
All in all a very budget hotel and in this case you just about get what you pay for.
To sum up, I would not stay there again.

I feel this review more like a duty than a simple advice to other travelers.
Our experience at the New York Plaza Hotel started with us arriving at midnight at the reception, after we received the email confirmation from Booking.com, that is usually reliable.
We've been told by the receptionist that our booking was unexistant, and that was already weird, because we travelled all around Cyprus, north and south, and nothing like this happened in any other hotel or resort or bungalow or whatever.
The receptionist told us that booking a room directly at the hotel was not possible, but she talked like she could make an exception for us. She showed us a dark, mouldy room, and that was enough to run away screaming. But we were so tired, so we decided that we could resist in that smelly room just for a sleep, and then take our stuff and leave the next day.
Worst mistake ever.
We paid 84€ damned euros for that Smeagol-like burrow, and once we turned on all the light we discovered a place filled with one-inch sized cockroaches (and one big boss that was almost two inches sized, running on our beds), one was floating dead in the dirty shower, that we had to use anyway, because we were literally covered in swear after our journey.
I started to paranoid, but it paid us back: after a proper look, i've found a little bug running in the kitchen. And I'm sure about what that thing was: a fu**ing bedbug.
We ran away, so angry to drive directly to Limassol, where we slept on the beach.
PS: the only lazy, unpolite comment from the receptionist after we told her about the disgusting situation in that room was just: "Guys, i've showed you the room...".

Oh god, where do I even start? The only nice thing I have to say about this place is: the staff were rather friendly to us.
Everything else is, quite honestly, a mess. The rooms are so incredibly outdated that I am absolutely positive no one has ever reinvested a single cent into this hotel. Bedrooms are huge, in fact they are more like apartments but what is more impressive is how dirty and unkempt they are. The thin, cracked, yellow stained toilet seat in our room looked like it was about to disintegrate into thin air from decades of use. The bathtub had some white stains on it and our bathroom in general, looked nothing like the photos shown on Booking. There was never any hot water in the evening, only in the morning. Beds were squeeky and uncomfortable. The heater in the bedroom was broken and couldn't even be switched on. The sheets looked clean but I found somone's hair in them when we arrived so I am not positive they have been changed from the previous guest. There is a yellow stained bedspread thrown over your bed when you arrive. There is a couple of blankets in the closet that look about a thousand years old and are of dubious level of cleanliness. There are exactly two glasses for you to drink out of in the entire kitchen and they don't even match. Very spare cutlery and pots but it doesn't matter really as the kitchen was so dirty and full of crumbs and stains we wouldn't dare use it anyway. The whole place has a stale, weird smell that hits you from the moment you open the door. We paid very little for this stay but it was still below our lowest expectations.

We were a bit worried when reading some negative reviews on the way. But it seems since those reviews the hotel has been working hard to remedy any problems. We had a great stay. Room was spotlessly clean. Wifi extender on the wall in the room. Friendly staff wanting to help anyway they can. Car parking too. Great price, and even better location. A range of restaurants and Car hirage just around the corner. Only improvement could have been a few more pots or pans, which I'm sure we would have got if we had asked, but ended up eating out to try the local foods. (Three pigs restaurant was the best, and budget/avis car rentals was the best too {booking online was half the price of in shop})

AVOID AT ALL COST! Booked a room which was allocated to another couple in front of me due to their allocated room being filthy. I was informed I would get a refund the following day, 4 days later still waiting on the refund. Contacted the hotel who told me it’s not their fault and I should check the T&C’s. Not worth the risk avoid this location… if you are thinking about staying DONT!

Its clean. Large rooms, but old furniture from a past time. Here and there the renovation could be needed. However, Everything works except of WiFi and there is sometimes a problem with hot water. The room was warm in February. The kitchen is the minimum equipment for cooking. I was satisfied. My studio had 2 balconies from both sites of building. Nice service and good location in Paphos.

+1
You cannot stay there because it's inhabitable. Everywhere is dirty, full of cockroaches, the sockets are burned, a lot of paint on the floor, on the door, on the furniture, the toilet was no usable, there are holes in some walls.
The guy from reception show us the appartments 101,102,205,107 and some others without electricity, but everywhere was the same.
Even the sofa from reception is very dirty.
We moved after one hour at another hotel in the middle of the night (we arrived at 00:00), because we cannot stay in this dirty place.
They charge us in full before to get the room keys and refuse to get our money back. After some calls at booking they charged us only for one day.
