I almost never review things online because the reviewing system itself is inherently unfair and often abused by people. However, people need to be warned about this terrible place. The management of Castelli Hotel is either totally non-responsive or argumentative when there is an issue. They prefer to gouge people rather than make things right. I e-mailed and called over and over without proper responses. You don't want to be in a position where you would need these folks to offer you any assistance. Completely anti-customer approach. While the hotel seems nice enough to stay in depending on what you are looking for, dealing with the owner and manager was really terrible and not typical of what you would find anywhere else in the world -- and this is coming from someone who has traveled a lot.…
It is an acceptable hotel,in terms of facilities, quite well located near the center, but what I appreciated tremendously was the services of all employees - all very kind, professional, available and with a wonderful attitude. I especially appreciated the involvement of Mrs. Gabriella, taking care of all needs we had for breakfast. Thank you so much!
Very old-looking hotel, it really needs to be refreshed. However the room was clean, with water bottles, complimentary tea/coffee and a decent bathroom (fake jacuzzi). The pillows were very uncomfortable, thick and hard, I had to use the cushions placed for decoration. The location is good, near the archeological museum and the centre, but I couldn’t find a proper restaurant, only fast food or bars. The staff is not particularly kind or helpful. Wifi is good. Breakfast is average. There is parking.
Wow. I don’t even know where to start with this review. First of all thank god I hadn’t paid to stay in this hotel. Unfortunately our flight home was delayed 30 hours so TUI had to put us in a hotel over night. The fact they thought this hotel was acceptable to put family’s in is beyond me. We arrived at the hotel about 9pm (Sunday before Cyprus bank holiday money) we was all checked in and given our rooms. Walked into our room to find 2 single beds for me, my partner and 9 month old baby to sleep in (also air con broken). This was not happening due to risk of cot death etc. no way was I letting that happen. Luckily we was moved rooms next door… so a room with 1 small single bed for me, my partner and 9’month old baby to sleep in. Ok I get it they had no travel cots so we had to make do. My partner stayed up all night so baby could sleep safely. My main priority was to get baby to sleep it had been a long day and he was exhausted… so that was that. Woke up the next morning in utter disgust…. Black mouldy pillows, dust in every place possible, stains down the side of the bed, pubic hair on bathroom floor, stains on towels, dirty refrigerator, broken glass tables and not forgetting how unsafe it is outside of the hotel it’s self! Full of gangs, no street lights, bordered up buildings - absolutely awful! This hotel needs closing down due to health and hygiene and health and safety! If I knew TUI was putting us up in this hotel I’d of happily slept on the airport floor it was that bad.…
Some positives, first: a decent location in the centre of the city. Relatively cheap A friendly welcome. Decent internet connection. Room OK in terms of size and cleanliness. But, as others have said, it's very basic. Their website describes rooms as "elegant" and "exquisite", and that's simply untrue: they've not been decorated in years and are incredibly tired. Not recommended.
Do not expect a safe private parking place, it does not exist at the hotel. Problem is that on booking.com the hotel promise private safe parking. I wanted to book this facility, and it was rejected then. I was told that I can cancel the booking if I want, but they did not inform me that, they will charge 100% cancelation fee ( over 300 € ) I was charged. ! I had to put massive pressure on the hotel via booking.com to get my money back. Cannot recommmed this Hotel at all.
My husband and I along with another couple who are friends stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We are mature couples with walking difficulties, so location was very important. Pro's. ~. Few minutes walk to Bus station, shops, banks etc. Clean hotel with polite and helpful staff. Con's. ~ Very dated decor, advertised facilities were not available. Bar was closed which meant we had to go out for a relaxing drink. Breakfast was cold no matter what time we went down. No snacks available, beds and pillows not very comfortable. This hotel has real potential but seems to be In A time warp
The hotel is well situated but otherwise puts on a pretty poor show with the one proviso that the staff are ultra-helpful and kind. The whole feeling one gets is that they are out scrimping on the backs of their guests, trying to earn as much money off them as possible whilst providing absolutely zilch in return. There's a plastic buffet breakfast and a coffee machine which makes the most appalling coffees imaginable. Soviet style. The staff simply put out the food and greet the guests. What's wrong with preparing a real cup of coffee at the sort of rates they charge? There is appalling low grade patisserie etc, all brought in from cents on the Euro. The restaurant is not open in the afternoons and evenings. The carpets are all worn in the hallways. The socket between the beds was not working. The shower didn't work properly. The bath is slippery with a deep side, so older people cannot shower or bath. There was a large dead cockroach on the floor below my table while eating breakfast. There is no English language TV at all, the owners having plumped for the cheapest possible service. The wifi was so appalling and it cost me a lot of money, as my phone kept having to eat up data. The only good things I can say about the hotel was that several of the staff were ultra-helpful and kind. However, some were also sometimes rude and indiscreet. Parking is also quite good. Excellent, comfortable beds. Otherwise this hotel is evidence of how many Cypriot hotels just haven't moved with the times and treat their guests as objects to be milked. Would have been fine were this 1980 but simply miles below par for today. Unedifying experience and saying that it was mediocre would be charitable.…
Liked: Close to the museum and a walking distance to the shops etc. Clean. Quiet at the rear. Good breakfast. Didn't like: The air-conditioning was noisy - offered another room but smaller so declined, safe not working - offered another that could have been carried away! For the money I thought it was of reasonable value.
Stayed for one night during a business trip, due to lack of rooms in other hotels. The only positive thing is the location, walking distance to Lidras street and the old town. Both receptionists (night - morning) were very kind and helpful. Room needed some basic maintenance or even renovation, it certainly shows it's age. Bathroom was extremely small. Air condition was functional and adjustable. Bed mattress was very soft for my liking. The worst thing was breakfast. Probably the worst breakfast I've encountered in all my travels.. Juice and coffee were terrible, ham and cheese seemed like they were frozen, bread was from a couple of days back, there was a single slice of melon for fruit and not replenished while I was waiting and finally there were ants walking all over the bench and inside the bowl of croissants. Just terrible.…
