Rooms are fantastic - all have a great view, either of the mountains or the sea. The three buildings are connected by walkways inside an immense hillside compound, with the excellent restaurant at the back of the complex. I always recommend the restaurant for the first and last meals of your stay as well as late evening room service (Ferman and his crew run the restaurant with the same impeccable attention to the customer as Mr Mohamed does the hotel).
If you've never visited Cyprus, this is the only place that should be on your shortlist. A ten minute walk into town and twenty five to the beach, yet far enough to avoid the tourist traps and casino hells that populate the North end.
A few tips to make things as smooth as possible when visiting;
1. Ask the hotel to send a limo for you from Larnaca. It's around €65 and you'll need your passport to cross the border. They will be waiting for you as soon as you debark
2. Walk into town and buy a Turkcell sim card if you want 4G for your stay - Cyprus relies on Internet piped in from Turkey so most places rarely get higher than 20mb. A 10GB 30 day package with calls and texts runs to £10, which is perfect for summoning taxis, looking up places to visit and the odd bit of YouTube or WhatsApp calling. Don't give the hotel a hard time because you didn't...
3. ...download your favourite TV shows beforehand. Why you want to is up to you, but if you want to watch Prime shows on the balcony or by the pool, make sure that you do it at home or at airport
4. If you like the look of that kimono or t-shirt, buy it immediately. Remember it's an island, so if that killer outfit appeals, grab it! You may not see it again for the duration of your visit.
Cyprus is paradise and Mr Mohamed is the closest you can get to your own Mr Jordan. The Kemerli Konak is a phenomenal place, everything is pristine and in good taste, aided by the excellent location, warm weather and ludicrously cheap prices.
We stayed (in January, a very few other guests in the hotel) 3 nights in room 404 (on the second floor) in the newer part.
Positive is the quiet location, the building has a lift, large room with sitting area, good heating (we had rainy and cloudy weather) and good beds (a double and single). Instead of difficult parking along the main road, we could park in the dead end street at the backside. Very good restaurant with friendly waiters where we had a good breakfast and have had dinner in the evening.
Minus was the warm water in the shower (every day it was a little colder). Although we had requested a quiet room with less/no traffic noise in our reservation form, the ladies at the reception first offered us a room at the front side straight along the (busy) main road. It was rather disappointing, when we arrived after a tired journey, we had to complain. About room 404, offered as an alternative by the reception, we were very satisfied.
Summarized, a (very) good stay and we would certainly stay another time in this hotel and would recommend this place to stay in Girne.
She sent an elderly cleaning lady to fix the toilet. She couldnt fix it, of course. Then we wanted to check out. The owner sent another elderly cleaning lady as bellboy (!). There is heavenly atmosphere but they are lacking the professional services.
The breakfast is full of sugary stuff like fake Nutella, jams etc. We prefer raw honey and fruits but there was none. Tea coffee services were always late and barely served with the breakfast.
Last but not the least I warned all service people to use masks when they enter our room but they didn't care and wear any masks. The owner said noone cares in Cyprus. As a guest I prefer people wearing a mask to be around us. Again bad service bad mentality.
The owner gave 15 euro discount at the check out..thanks but it doesn't mean anything when you ruin our holiday with no working toilet in the room, water running all night for 2 days...great place and decoration with very bad services...
You are a little way out of the hustle and bustle of Kyrenia Centre but that's what we like. Its about a 20 mins steady walk down to the Harbour and Castle area.
We arrived in the early hours to find the reception empty and after trying to call the number was about to bed down on one of the sofas believing we had been forgotten about, that's when Mohamed a big guy who always has a massive smile and welcome appeared from the direction of what we now know is the restaurant.
What a nice guy he apologised for our wait saying he had been to get us a sandwich and drink ready for our arrival and we were a little early and caught him off guard. We were shown two rooms to select which and was told guest were leaving and if not happy could move later on.
We were in the older main house and chose room 619 at the very top quite a compact room but bed very comfy and room clean has a small rooftop balcony looks out to sea view. (Room 620 same but gets afternoon sun and we would ask for that when we stop again).
The rooms are cleaned daily, and the housekeeping is done by a lovely bunch of ladies.
Breakfast is served in the Archway Restaurant and there’s option of continental or full English watch out for Omar the tall slim waiter and his side kick Khizar both great guys with a very dry sense of humour and both have a habit of just appearing to check everything is good.
My wife asked if there was any chance of some muesli for breakfast with Almond milk at reception and they went and bought it nothing was too much trouble. Omar nicknamed her Madam Muesli which we found funny and accepted it in the spirit it was meant and so from the second day on was referred to as Mr Paul and Madam Muesli hilarious.
We ate at the restaurant the first night had such good meal and service ate there a further 3 times.
Tjan (not sure if this spelt correct so apologise if not) was the day time reception point of contact she is very helpful and again always smiling and nothing too much trouble.
The coffee shop does great coffee and cakes are very good and worth an afternoon indulgence.
All in all great relaxing place and will be a place we return to no doubt about it
My wife and I visited Cyprus for IVF treatment in Nicosia. Were it not for this, we wouldn’t have visited in August, ( thank goodness for the excellent AC in the hotel room), but perhaps we wouldn’t have visited Northern Cyprus either. Like so many Brits we would probably have been less adventurous and visited the Greek part. But we are so glad that we did. What a fascinating place, especially if like me, history is your thing.
Our special mentions go to Tjan, the pretty owner who fielded my frequent questions and requests patiently and helpfully and always with the loveliest of smiles; the intelligent young man from Uzbekistan (whose name I don’t think we were given) who showed us to our room on the night we arrived and was incredibly helpful thereafter; the sweet ladies that cleaned the rooms and finally to Omar and Khizar, the waiters who served us each day in the Archway Restaurant and who couldn’t have been more professional and courteous. They helped make our stay memorable and we felt that we were valued by all the staff and that our visit mattered to them.
What we loved most was just how tranquil the hotel is, how noticeably unflustered the staff are. There is no fuss or drama, no sense that anything is too much trouble and there’s a real sense that everyone is happy and enjoys working there. The hotel has a really calm atmosphere. It is the absolute antithesis of a large corporate hotel with lots of noisy holiday makers on a beach holiday. It’s a perfect place for couples wanting a quiet, romantic getaway or for small families.
The hotel is on the list of recommended hotels for couples visiting the British IVF centre in Nicosia, which is about 30 minutes away by taxi. A senior manager at the hospital was most interested to know what we thought about the hotel and whether or not they were right to recommend it. We were able to confirm that they were. If we could award it six stars, we would! Thank you to everyone who made our stay special, we miss you. Lots and lots of love.

Our room had stunning mountain and sea views, which was wonderful to wake up to after a restful night's sleep in our large and comfortable bed. The shower was small but luxurious and the bathroom itself was clean and tasteful.
The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was incredibly tasty. We had both the 'english breakfast' and the continental. Both were lovely but we preferred the continental for the more local flavors! We also went to the restaurant for dinner one night and it was clear it was very popular with the locals, not just the hotel guests. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. We also had lattes, teas, and sweets from the cafe and those were lovely as well.
The hotel is a 30 minute walk downhill into Kyrenia old town and a cab back up the hill is only about 50 TL (£2.50 roughly) so the hotel has all the perks of being close to the action but with the peace and quiet and scenery of a countryside villa. The hotel was a destination in itself and we can't wait to go back.
