Service, cleanliness and courtesy are all found in this traditional hotel style. it is family run and you can feel it. It enjoys a beautiful scenery and a great restaurant where the owner is the chef. Difficult to match
What a spectacular hotel! Old world charm in our room. Although on the small size in sq. footage, it was laid out very well with enough room for a desk, a coffee station, a bistro table and two chairs, a designated place for luggage, closet and drawers for clothing, and a very large bathroom for a modestly-sized room. The best feature? Our balcony with table and two chairs and awning that had views of the castle on the hill. We could even see this view from INSIDE the room if we sat by the door to the balcony. Mountains all around completed this amazing vignette. The entire hotel exudes charm. Tucked away (and glad there was signage up the steep mountain or we would not have found it), it feels like a Zen Garden when you arrive with New Age music, fountains and gardens that are very welcoming. There is an outdoor gazebo-like restaurant (as well as indoor one), which allow you to sit outside for a drink or a meal and soak up the gorgeous scenery. So, why not a "5" in this review? Sadly, I must say that the FOOD was not good. We had signed up for "half-board" which means we had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast was buffet style and no issues there. But the dinners..... well, first night we ate inside and while the fancy-schmancy presentation was great, the taste wasn't anything to write home about. Ok. The dessert was great, though. Food, "meh". Second night: They pushed us to eat dinner in the gazebo, but it was rather damp and chilly and we didn't really want to, but were almost forced. Not wanting to kick up a fuss, we said ok. They had heat lamps, but that wasn't enough. They gave out blankets and several guests took them up on that. Do I really want to eat with a heavy wool blanket on me? One woman at a nearby table had this heavy blanket around her shoulders and struggled to keep it from falling away. Anyway, not really a good way to start off a supposed fancy dinner, but again, I thought, "Go with the flow". But the FOOD....horrible. As a vegetarian, I am limited in choices and risotto was part of the vegetarian menu. I noticed when it arrived that it looked "sudsy", like dish soap had fallen into it. But, again, ok. But when I TASTED it? It was HORRIFIC. Definitely had gone bad. Complained to several waiters who took the attitude, "Oh, sorry". No offer of another dish. My husband said his food was just "meh" (again) and he tried my risotto and gagged on it! So, it wasn't just me. When we exited the gazebo, the owner (and I suspect he was also the chef based on his attire), said he was told there was an issue with the food. We recanted the episode and he tried to dodge the accusation that the food had turned bad, by saying, "Well, THAT'S the way we make it here!" As though perhaps I just didn't like the taste. "No!" we both said, "It literally was inedible...it turned bad". After being cornered, the owner said, "Well, we could have given you something else". I came back with, "Well, we told 3 different servers and were not offered anything so we gave up". He had no come back. Our third night we opted not to eat there. Oh, and the next day? I definitely had a stomach problem for half the day from the 3-4 bites I had. Thank God I didn't choke the whole thing down or I would have been stuck in the bathroom all day! ----Now, that all said, a lot of people who were not doing the half-board didn't seem to have a problem. How do I know they weren't half-board? They had food not available to us. It makes me think that the "deal" of half board is a way of dumping "old food" that they have on hand. Anyway, if not for the food, this place would have been my favorite hotel on our 3 week, 20th wedding anniversary trip European tour of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.…
This hotel is truly exceptional. The location is perfect, quiet, amongst the nature and a pleasant 20 minute walk to the castle. Upon arrival, it oozes charm, discrete ambience and style. The grounds are beautifully maintained and lush with greenery. We were upgraded to a junior suite and the views from our balcony were perfect. The room was well appointed and the bed was absolutely perfect! So quiet too! The staff were all lovely. Breakfast was excellent and you order egg dishes which is always nice as it comes hot to the table. We dined at the restaurant on the terrace on the first evening. Fantastic views of the castle by night and the food was delicious from start to finish. Wines are superb. The staff were very accommodating with our special food wishes. The chef/owner came to each table. The 30 minute wait for the apple tart was well worth it! This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. …
We went here for a short weekend getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were certainly not disappointed. The overall experience at #parkhotel_sonnenhof was outstanding and I would describe it as hospitality at its best. They found the key of success for customer satisfaction by simply putting the guest at the centre of everything they do. They don't treat you as a customer, they treat you as a guest they truly welcome, appreciate and spoil throughout the stay. It started with a friendly welcome, full of smiles, kindness and a first impression of true customer service. The welcome drink on the patio was delicious and refreshing. Not the ordinary one you get at every chain hotel, no it was a welcome drink decorated and prepared like at a bar. The room was lovely decorated with rose petals, a plate of fruits dipped in chocolate and a bottle of champagne but most important with a handwritten welcome note. The dinner was exquisite and a true treat for your eyes and palate. It was cooked to perfection and wonderfully decorated. And again topped with an impeccable service by the team. Another highlight and wonderful touch was the personal welcome and some great conversations throughout the dinner by the lovely Mrs. Real. A surprise dessert with sparkling candles as a grand finale was just another example of their desire to make every guest feel special. Even Hubertus Real came out of the kitchen to personally check on us and our satisfaction and to wish us well. It was a wonderful experience and a great pleasure to celebrate our anniversary at such a special place of true hospitality. We can highly recommend the Parkhotel Sonnenhof and will certainly come back here when time allows.…
As part of a long project in Liechtenstein, I had the pleasure and privilege to stay in the Park Hotel Sonnenhof throughout the week. During the entire year, I have had a perfect experience with this hotel in all aspects! I literally felt at home - very important to me given the nature of my job. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to entire team! Wish to come back again. Highly recommendable!
