Luxembourg City, Luxembourg1 contribution
we are extremely disappointed with the unprofessional commitment and reception the manager had towards us. I live in Luxembourg and after a phone call where I was informed about the use of a 50 € accommodation voucher offered by the State of Luxembourg (following the covid policies), the hotel staff told me the voucher could be used to pay for the parking fees at the end of my stay, so I was able to book the room in advance. I would like to point out that, living nearby, I could have come to the hotel to pay the room with the voucher. At the end of the stay, the voucher was refused and the manager made no effort to understand and recognize the issue, even claiming we had no rights to complain. Such a lack of professionalism does not contribute to the reputation of the Hilton hotels. I used to stay at the Millennium Hilton or DoubleTree at New York City, and I had no issues at all there. I also want to point out that many services (room cleaning, breakfast and restaurants) were closed or not provided. There are no restrictions in Luxembourg regarding these services. To my knowledge, the DoubleTree is the only hotel that does not provide these basic services. We are outraged at such a lack of courtesy and civility. Our stay there was: sleep, clean your room, and get your food elsewhere!!

It is with disappointment I learnt that there were several shortcomings you encountered during your stay, which affected your overall satisfaction. Rest assured that all mentioned points have been duly noted and those aspects of the property and service that we can directly affect, we will certainly review to improve. Nevertheless, I regrets to read that despite all efforts of the team in regards of the ‘’state voucher’’ you remains unsatisfied with the solutions offered to ensure your satisfaction. Even the one night complimentary parking. Yet please let me reiterate that the state voucher can only be used for accommodation and not for incidentals. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the near future and regaining your faith in us. Yours sincerely Moulay Abdallah Director of Operations

I have stayed at this property before about 4-5 years ago, and from that stay, it was already not the best, but still doable - based on my short overnight stay there (arrived late at night and left the next morning). Therefore besides remembering it being a property still left in the early 90's era and going with not the highest expectation, I could have not imagined that it could even deliver any worse than a Hampton Inn standard from service point. For this stay I booked a 2-night stay taking advantage that Luxembourg was one of the EU countries with open borders and some good steps in current (improving) situation in the control of the pandemic with good steps for restaurants, etc. Check In Since again online check-in via the app was not possible (a frequent situation in current pandemic times - also the property is not digital key ready) , I had to pass by the front desk. Arriving around 2pm, for the first time since a year ago, I was jaw dropped to see a snaking line waiting to check-in. There were 2 front desk associate working (and this seems to be the case for the 3 days I was at the property) and they were indeed working hard to process the line. Due to the variation of demands of the different check-in guest, some took much longer leading to a slow moving line. From the moment I stepped into the line and the time I received my key - it was about 20 mins later. I already noticed earlier in the app that I was upgraded to a Junior Suite, During check-in I was given a 1-litre bottle of still water with 2 disposable cup (which I was cringing since I know what comes next) and informed about breakfast being a take-away bag to be collected at the restaurant between 7-10am. Location The property is located outside of the city centre of Luxembourg. Walking to the city centre does not seem to be an option (especially with children or luggage) - it is about 4 km with lots of hills to climb. There is a bus (#4) that does run to the city every 30 mins including weekends, on weekdays, there is an additional line that passes the stop (about 5 mins walk from the hotel). Around the hotel is mainly a residential area - with some shops (but they are usually closed during the weekends) and a few nature walking trails. Room The room was located on the 17th floor. One positive aspect of the property was the lift - seems to have been a fast operating one - which was certainly needed un current times - combination of quite a busy hotel and limitation of only 4 persons max each time. As expected, everything of the hotel does feel or rather is stuck in the early 90's - corridors were dark and clearly needs a refresh. The same feeling for the room - luckily with the high number of windows and daylight, it did help to lighten up the room. Entering the room, was directly the bathroom and than a smaller hallway with the wardrobe closet which opened up to the open space sitting area, working desk, TV desk and the bed. The bed area was slightly hidden. From space wise, it was indeed spacious. Sleep quality - this was good, with the bed at least still being of good firmness, only exception is that for some, the pillows maybe too thin and only 2 (same sloppy) pillows were provided. From both exterior and interior noise point of view, it was good no disturbance at all. The only modern item in the whole room seems to be the TV - which had the usual mix of local and international options (although quite a few does not work). Also an irritation of the TV is that although it is placed at a position that it can be rotated for watching from bed or the sofa, the TV cable connected to it is too short - especially when the heavy drapes are closed - as it gets disconnected at either ends. Internet connection at the hotel was complimentary - a password is provided. Relogin is needed every 24 hours. Speed and stability peformance was normal. Bathroom/Toilet - there was only a combined shower/bathtub with a movable glass shield to protect water from wetting the flow - this however failed miserably as the plastic protecter at the bottom of the panel was not effective anymore, so the area of the bathtub would get really wet after a shower. The water pressure and temperature control was good. The usual Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries were provided. The only problem was with the toilet seat - there was a haircrackline (hardly noticeable) but if you sit at the wrong position, you might get some pinching of your bottom :P The sitting area sofa although most probably quite old - was still firm and comfortable for sitting. There were more than sufficient outlets for electronics including 2 USB outlets at the headboard of the bed (but they don't seem to be working) and the other one which the Hilton branded clock. However the wiring of the electrical system seems strange - as some of them will not operate if the hallway lights are switched off while others were not connected to the hallway light switch (which was a sort of masterswitch). Found this out after the first night when I noticed nothing got charged - and there's no way to not swtich off the hallway lights without switching of the power to these outlets (mainly at the working desk) Other than this, the room was stripped of everything - no bathrobes, no tea/coffee making facilities, no cups/glasses and all the usual expectation in the room - which was a dissapointment especially now that breakfast is in the room. To me this is really strange - as at least based on my stays so far at other DT and Hilton chains in Germany and Netherlands the past year, these items were still made available, Breakfast Under normal situation, the breakfast at this property from my last experience was already just OK. However under current situation, I would have to say for a Doubletree - it was really pathetic. It was really just a carb and sugar filled packaged consisting of - 2 small baguettes (1 brown and 1 white) - 2 small pastries (1 chocolate and 1 croissant) - 1 Laughing Cow cream cheese, 2 jams, 1 butter - 1 small sandwich (chicken or cheese or ham) - and it was basically just 1 slice of the aforementioned item slapped between two buttered white bread - 1 cup/tin of juice and hot beverage served in a takeaway cup I really don't know why something better can't be offered - although I can imagine with such a high occupancy the pre-selection of items the night before could be difficult. On the other hand - I was surprised and felt like everyone that stayed had breakfast included in their room rate. On the first morning (not sure if it's always like this every weekend or just a one off due to the long weekend in quite a number EU countries), but the line to collect the package was again long - waited about 15 mins before it was my turn. Although the next morning, there was no line. Service As in most Hilton chains these days, housekeep is basically non-existence until you check-out. However they do still offer it upon request - which I did during check-in. Sadly, am not sure where the requested ended up as the room was not made up - which was quite incovenience especially now since breakfast has to be taken in the room and coming back to a room with bread crumbs still on the floor is not my cup of tea. Other than that, it seems that the pool is open - however reservation is needed. I did not partake in this, so am not sure how easy is it to get a spot. I believe that the gym is the same - reservation might be needed. As for parking - the hotel does charge for parking. The hotel also seemed to have installed 4 EV charging stations - which I informed to cost 25€ per day - you can charge as much as want. In my opinion still quite an expensive option especially with so many charging stations around the city including those superchargers. Strange that they don't offer it with the option of paying to what you use via your own chargecards. Other than that, at least both the front desk and breakfast room personal's encountered were friendly and indeed trying to make the best of the situation - which is at least the positive point of this property during this stay Overall All in all, for me this stay was quite an unmemorable stay. The cuts/reduction of items and service at the hotel is beyond the reason for safety in current times - I feel it is more of an opportunity to cost-cut where possible and use the current situation as the reason. If I were GM of the hotel, even if they don't want to invest in bringing the hotel interior to modern times, at least use other soft products to elevate the stay of your guests - which can be done at minimal cost but yet effective in leaving a good impression with the guests. Furthermore I am not sure why the hotel could not deliver even the usual DT cookies when other DT's are still able to do that in a safe way. For me I will most probably not return to this property especially in current times unless the rates are super low - as based on current stay, the value for money was certainly close to none compared to the other hotels which are better located.

Bad service, VERY rude emloyees (especially at the front desk) and a really ugly and creepy hotel. The hotel looks like a old hospital. Not clean. No water, tea or coffee in the room. We had three rooms and had an awfull stay. Glad when we left! This hotel does not deserve 4 stars.

The breakfast served in take-away mode is quite basic, and there is a queue at the entrance of the restaurant as the poor attendant has to use a slow machine to serve warm drinks one-by-one... There is no room cleaning if you stay longer than one night, which is not nice after having breakfast in the room ! A cleaning of the windows would also be needed. The restrictions in the swimming pool (limited people, very limited opening times) make it almost impossible to find a slot. No opening in the mornings, nor on Sunday :-( It seems that the personal is still tailored for covid figures, while the hotel was very busy for the long week-end.
