Hotel Havgrim is informal and relaxing, with an emphasis on attention to personal service, situated in a particularly attractive and unique setting right on the shore. The house has been lovingly restored with the emphasis on preserving the original style and decor. The interior has been designed to reflect the history of the house, connecting its location with nature and the sea. Our staff are always on hand to help with any requests you may have, be it an extra pillow, a cup of coffee or a table booking for a restaurant in town. We will do our best to ensure that your stay in our beautiful, historic home is unforgettable. Havgrim is surrounded by nature and the sea and no matter what the season or weather, it is always worth a visit. Listen as the waves thunder against the rocks, the seaweed as it gently laps the shore, or the mighty surf as it rushes up to the stone wall.

Slightly out of the way, but the sea view makes it worth it!
When choosing a hotel in Torshavn, we made the decision to stay here, slightly out of the way, based on the beautiful views and the fact that the sea is literally in your back yard! This is why we booked a Deluxe double room with sea view. It did not disappoint, and the window seat looking out on the view was well utilized each day. Very relaxing. Also, the staff was very helpful with any requests. Finally, the breakfast was very good (with the best bacon we have ever had, literally melt-in-your-mouth) and the breakfast room also had a wonderful sea view, so we had a happy start to each day. Having plentiful Faroese black & white sheep as neighbours was fabulous! They made for great photos of the area. As stated previously, this hotel is not in the center of the town, but if you have a car (like we did) this is no problem, especially as the hotel offers free outdoor parking. The only criticism I had with our room was the almost complete lack of storage space for our clothes. The room could have been designed better in this aspect, as travelers need to put away clothes! We resolved our situation by keeping our clothes in our luggage.

    Lovely hotel!
Delightful hotel with very welcoming, friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic and a superb location with nice views. Compact twin room but very clean and comfortable. Our only wish would have been to be able to get an evening meal there as there was a bit of a walk to local restaurants. Otherwise perfect!

    I loved this place
I loved this place. The funkish architecture, The friendly and helpful staff and off course The outstanding view of The Bay and Nolsoy. My favorite moment was working on My labtop sitting in The Commons Living room with a panoramic view of The Ocean. The city centre is only 10 minuts walk away.

This is a very nice hotel within walking distance of town. We had a room overlooking the ocean. The rooms are very small. There was a mini refrigerator in the room which is always a good amenity to have. Beds were comfortable enough. The shower is tiny. We are not big people and just had enough room to turn around. As others commented, the shower has a see-through glass door looking into the room but if your curtains are open you have a nice view of the ocean while you are showering. Breakfast was good. The outdoor hot tub is only available from 12-8 and is 250DKK/person (about $37/person when we were there) for an hour which is ridiculously expensive. Seems like it should be included in the price of the room. In all my travels, I don’t remember ever having to pay for the use of the hot tub. We never saw anyone use it.

We stayed for a night while in Torshavn along our 7-day road trip through the Faroe Islands. Overall, the aesthetics in the hotel were a bit dated (80’s vibe), but nice. Our room was cozy and small, but clean. I suppose it could be considered a bonus that you could see into the shower from the bedroom, as the wall was clear glass (not frosted); it was an interesting touch. Oh, and it seemed like you could also see the toilet via mirrors from anywhere in the room; classy. All that considered, it was still a nice place to stay, but the price for our single night (~$365) was quite high for the islands and definitely reduces the perceived value.

Our room was cozy with a great view. Clean and updated bathroom. The front desk was very helpful. Referred us to a great Italian restaurant after a long trip. Close proximity to the Suderoy car ferry. Great experience.

It is a small boutique hotel with excellent views. The staff is very friendly. Check in was easy. I had a delux room and breakfast was included. Room had good views, heating was perfect, bed very comfortable and very clean. Bathroom was small ,.no tub and shower has see through glass in the room so no privacy while you shower if you share room. The mini bar was well stocked, breakfast was pretty standard, they only serve breakfast and hi tea is by pre order, no lunch or dinner for which you need to go to the town which is 10 min. walk or take a taxi. The reception is staffed till 10 or 11pm and there is no one after that but they try to take care of things before they leave. They will book tours for you, taxi to/from airport which is shared and cost DK233. All in all very good place to enjoy and relax with free parking.

At first glance Havgrim Hotel looks like a stunning hotel with a perfect location. It is actually quite stunning but maybe not as stunning as it looks on the internet. The personnel and owners of the hotel are actually too unprofessional and unexperienced within the hotel business but then again, we are in the middle of the Atlantic (nowhere). Me and my fiancée decided to go on an engagement trip to the Faroe Islands and I wanted to book a nice hotel for our stay. I booked it via Booking.com and upon arrival we were shown to one of the Deluxe rooms that had a view out on the street. We were clearly disappointed as the traffic at night would probably disturb our sleep and it is quite sad to have the curtains closed all day long. Since the hotel is located with a stunning view on the seaside of it, we decided to change to a smaller standard room. The price difference (lower) was 600 DKK per night but we were told that we probably could get a better room our last night since they then wouldn’t have guests in all rooms. That room would then be with the same standard and size (and price) of the one we had originally booked. A cash refund was totally out of the question here since it was “you who decided to downgrade yourselves”. Some reflections at this stage: 1. Shouldn’t the pricing of a room be dependent on the view from the room? Isn’t it reasonable to have a room with street view at a lower price than a one with seaside view? 2. Wouldn’t you prefer to be informed that your view from the room is just a road? 3. Shouldn’t there be an option to downgrade yourself and get a refund (full or partial) when doing so? Nevertheless, we tried not to make a big scene of this since we didn’t want to ruin our engagement trip. When we had one more night to stay at the hotel it turned out that there was no real will to help us change room and when we requested it, they were “still cleaning those rooms”. We continued to enjoy our trip and when it was time to check out, we were charged the full amount for the room originally booked. I had also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival which was delivered to the room (well done!). When checking out we mutually decided not to charge us for the sparkling wine since we had already paid a lot more than we should have. When we had driven 10 minutes from the hotel on our way to the airport, I receive a notification from my credit card mobile app that the money for the sparkling wine had been withdrawn from my card. We felt totally ripped off. I don’t know the Faroese hotel business that well, but I am really encouraging Havgrim Hotel to learn from the international hotel business both when it comes to customer service, pricing, common reasoning etc. It is not always best to search for the scenario where you earn the most money, the customer should (also) be prioritized. Havgrim Hotel is already highly priced and should be able to have flexibility when a customer is dissatisfied. Unfortunately, the experience at Hotel Havgrim is influencing our full experience of the Faroe Islands. In other areas I can say that I really liked the breakfast and the woman serving breakfast each morning. The cleaning of the rooms was OK but nothing special. In total I would say that Hotel Havgrim is not a value for the money hotel. The price levels are implying on this being a first-class boutique hotel but they don’t live up to this image.

Had a 4 night stay here in July. A friendly welcome at Reception and in the breakfast room. We had a 1st floor room to the side -reached by a glass elevator -so were partly overlooking the road and the sea -and the sheep in the nearby field. The beds were very comfortable, you sink into it .Breakfast included cereal, fruit, meat, cheese. fruit, pastries & some cooked items so everything you could want really and with amazing views. Not much traffic so very peaceful. Ah, the bathroom -now this is of the open-plan kind with glass shower. Being elderly reserved Brits this took some adapting to but -make your own arrangements !! Yes it is expensive but then so is the rest of the Faroe Islands -just calculate the cost before you book or find somewhere cheaper. It's a very interesting historic house -would love to return one day.
