Location
More to the south eastern end of the town but close to most attraction (especially the ferries) but you will have to walk uphill to most of them. Quiet side street with mice view from the balcony.

Rooms
We had the one over three floors for the first 5 nights and that was crazy in a positive way. Wonderful private balcony, fully equipped kitchen and the most fascinating architecture I ever had in a hotel room. Not for mobility impaired (as the whole hotel) and not for people being afraid of heights due to glass stairways. Lots of space and well equipped.

The last two nights we had a room with a bed nearly under the ceiling… well

Food
A very nice and well satisfying breakfast with eggs made to order very good bread, cold cuts, musli, a very good way to start the day especially when eaten on the balcony.

Staff,
without any exception friendly, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile.

All in all
Sure booking next tume in Valetta

Stayed here for two nights in February. This is a very new, small boutique hotel with about 10 rooms of different sizes and shapes. We had a large loft-style room with the bedroom / sleeping area upstairs (room height about 5.5 meters, with bedroom built above the entrance and bathroom area.) Liked the room a lot. Downstairs had a sofa bed (making the room great for a family of 3 or 4), desk, TV, storage, and a bathroom with shower and bath tub. There was also a fancy coffee machine. Upstairs had a large (queen size) bed, side table, an armchair, and a TV. Room style is modern and very nice. We also liked the colorful paintings in the room and in the public areas. Great!
There is a lift to access all floors and get to the top-floor breakfast room, from where you can get to the roof-top terrace (great for breakfast outside the cool winter season!) Views to the southeast (Birgu/Vittoriosa and Senglea) from the terrace were magnificent!
Breakfast was good (not very extensive, but covered everything we expected: cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bread, eggs and omelette, cheese, cold cuts, tea, coffee, orange juice, ...).
The reception/entrance is not always occupied, so needed the room card to open the front door(s) part of the time, especially in the evening.
Only minus we could think of was some plumbing noise from upstairs when other guests were taking a shower late evening or very early in the morning. Would not be noticeable unless in bed almost asleep.
The location of the hotel is extremely good: two small blocks away from the two main streets in the core of Valletta, where lots and lots of restaurants and cafes are located. So you could walk to you dinner in 2 to 4 minutes.

The hotel is quirky, boutique style but in a great location to explore Valletta.
The staff are very helpful and welcoming. e were shown two room to choose from. Our room was on three floors with a small terrace overlooking the Church (warning the call to prayer bell sounds early - but its all part of being in a city environment). otherwise very quiet with little traffic. Comfortable although Mattress a little tired. Great Bose sound system and comfortable settee. Good shower and all very clean. Can't fault. Breakfast is plentiful and the option of cooked eggs or omelette is available.
Good selection of bars and restaurants nearby and of course all the attractions.
Great shout from the receptionist who recommended GoTo cars - Get the App and register before you go to pick up a very cheap hire car from just around the corner for one way journeys or pick up near the city gate for round trips.

This hotel is in a narrow street right in the centre of the old city and ten minutes walk from most of the key attractions. Many of the other properties in the street look as though they could do with attention outside, but the hotel itself has been modernised and its condition stands out. Our room was large, with a huge bed and a large ensuite bathroom. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and well maintained.

That was not the best part of our experience though. The members of staff were among the friendliest and most helpful we have ever come across anywhere, every last one of them. They could not do enough for us, giving advice on places to eat or to visit, showing a genuine interest in us. Each afternoon if we wished they brought "aperitivo" which comprises a drink - tea, coffee, wine or prosecco - with some snacks to where we sat on the roof terrace with a gorgeous view over the Grand Harbour. And it was complimentary.

The hotel does not have a restaurant but does offer a much better than average continental breakfast with the addition of freshly prepared eggs fried, scrambled or as an omelette.

Overall we could not have asked for better service and if we are fortunate enough to return to Valletta we should not even consider staying anywhere else.

We live in Malta but needed a break and chose to stay at the Ursulino. It was the week before non-essential retail was reopened, so Valletta was exceptionally quiet. We were able to comfortably go out for walks to Lower Barrakka and the rest of Valletta without feeling crowded at any point.

We chose the penthouse for its kitchenette given that we would need to either cook or order take out delivery and we weren't disappointed. The kitchen/dining area was up a staircase on a mezzanine level above the bathroom and overlooking the bed. It had a really fancy coffee maker and dishwasher but be warned there is no microwave (there is an oven/hob). Up another staircase is a glass-floored sitting room which opens out onto a lively decked terrace with loungers and an amazing view of the Grand Harbour. There's also an outdoor shower to help you cool off up there (which we didn't need in April but might be useful in July!). The terrace is mostly East facing, so depending on the time of year it might feel a little breezy up there in the evening, a jumper or cardigan should suffice.

Above our suite was the communal breakfast kitchen. We had the option to take breakfast up on the 4th floor or in our room. We choose the latter since we had so much space (and I think we were the only guests at the time). There was an ample selection of menu items, we were certainly not disappointed with our selection!

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, we'd received an email to say our room was going to be ready early, and due to the lockdown we were even offered late checkout as well. The service was exemplary.

We have just returned from an excellent weeks stay in the Triplex penthouse.
The warm welcome was reciprocated throughout our stay with every member of staff being cheery and very efficient such as when we messed up the safe (twice,we gave up on the third attempt!!!!!!!!!) plus ordering taxis.
The penthouse is WOW - Everything you need, bottles of water everyday, good selection of teas and coffee, high quality toiletries, hair dryer, super comfortable bed, lovely bedding, the kitchen/dining area was very well equipped (even a dishwasher but we ate out every day) and the icing on the cake is the lounge/upper level area leading onto the spacious terrace with breath taking views over the Grand Harbour.
We were lucky enough to coincide with the Pope's visit and the image of the nuns in front of our balcony waving their flags was memorable!.
Breakfasts were super - friendly staff, a fabulous choice of fresh fruits, danish pastries, breads, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, eggs cooked to order and FRESH orange juice.
The terrace to eat breakfast has fabulous views and there is also a nice indoor area if you go out of season.
The hotel is perfectly located just a few minutes from Valletta centre, the ferries and numerous restaurants but in a very quiet road.
We had an amazing stay and will definitely return.
Thankyou for everything, Dave and Debbie Green xx

We stayed for 4 days in November 2019. I don’t normally do reviews - this is my first. I had been meaning to do this review for sometime as I felt that the service provided by everyone was so outstanding that it should be acknowledged.

Having stayed in another hotel in Valletta prior to our arrival, it was very helpful that we were allowed early check in at 9.00. Moreover, we were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to the Penthouse Suite. The suite is on 3 levels and includes a dining area/ kitchen, and private terrace providing superb views across the grand harbour to the three cities. The rooms were spotless. To add a bit of luxury there was a coffee machine and Molton Brown Toiletries.

The service was so outstanding that without asking we were offered late check out at 3pm to coincide with our return flight.

The location of the hotel is very good, as it is quiet, yet only a couple of blocks from the bustle of the heart of Valletta. Also convenient for the ferries and the bus terminal. A couple of evenings we ate at the food market (couple of blocks away) which had an interesting up market deli/supermarket in the basement selling some Waitrose products.

We were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy breakfast, which was excellent, and the late afternoon complimentary aperativo on the upper terrace to enjoy the spectacular views over the grand harbour.

We loved Valletta but would also recommend taking a bus to Mdhina and a Gondola across to the three cities.

We would like to thank all of the staff for their outstanding service, making it a memorable 4 days for us.

We stayed two nights at the Ursulino Valletta and I would have been happy to stay even longer. What really set this hotel apart for us was the outstanding service we received when our luggage did not arrive with us. The staff made excellent recommendations on where we could buy necessities from toiletries to clothes, and also made sure we found wonderful places to dine nearby so that our trip wasn't ruined. I cannot say enough about their friendliness and helpfulness.

In addition the room was perfect for a short stay; the bed was comfortable, the towels and toiletries luxurious. The location on a quiet street just blocks from busier areas allowed both restful sleep and access to all that Valletta has to offer. It was so nice to arrive late at night to find our keys waiting for us along with a nice bottle of wine that we enjoyed while we watched the fireworks of Independence Day on the upper terrace.

Indeed, the terrace is a wonderful place to hang out in the evenings, watching the Grand Harbor while enjoying a glass of wine. Another nice element was the included breakfast with a wide variety of choices and some finely made omelets along with some superb coffee.

If I find myself in Malta again, I will absolutely prioritize staying at the Ursulino Valletta.

From the initial booking I found Team Ursulino helpful and welcoming. They organised my airports transfers for which communication was rapid and clear. Check-in was great, the attendant asked if I'd had a long journey, since I didn't they asked if I'd like a map and site-seeing tips. They then proceeded to explain all of the sites, which I found really useful. Throughout my stay I noticed that they treated all of the guests with equal care. As a female travelling solo I felt safe and secure at Ursulino.
I was in Room 4, a superior double on the first floor. The room was spacious and well decorated with a small enclosed balcony. Despite being roadside I didn't have any problem with noise (I stayed mid-week, Wed and Thurs). As well as tea/coffee/water there was also a bowl of fruit which was a nice additional touch. I have to mention the slippers which were super comfy and of superior quality to those in many 5* hotels.
The breakfast (included in the room rate) was ample: eggs could be made to order with a good range of cheeses, cold cuts and salads. There's a lovely rooftop terrace with good views, unfortunately during my trip it was too blustery to spend too long there. The hotel's location is great, quiet but with easy access to many sites.
Checkout was also smooth, I wanted to go for a final walk around Valletta, the attendant took my bag and told me to go for a wander and that they'd get my bill ready in the meantime. True to their word my bill and the transfer were both ready at the designated time. Their parting words were: "Are you sure you want to leave?" well I wished I'd stayed and not bothered with the next property (Marriott St Julian) but that's another story.

We stayed at Hotel Ursulino for 6 nights in a Superior Room, having chosen it on the basis of its excellent reviews. It more than lived up to its reputation. In all respects it was outstanding.

It is a quiet street only 200 m from Grand Harbour and restaurants and bars. On some mornings you could hear the feint sounds of the neighbouring convent celebrating mass. The views of Grand Harbour from the roof terrace are stunning (and a great location for a post dinner drink watching fireworks somewhere on the island).

The room was large, with quirky art, Bose speakers, the fluffiest towels and very effective air conditioning. The complimentary water and Prosecco was a welcome surprise.

The breakfast on the roof terrace was very good. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit salads, freshly prepared omelettes and pastries.

It is the staff however that make the hotel. All are friendly, efficient, charming and professional.

We thoroughly recommended Hotel Ursulino. It is a gem.

Valletta, Malta2 contributions
Dear Kiyotaka, My apologies for a delay reply. As many travellers correctly mentioned we charge 22EUR for the journey from the airport to the hotel. This charge is posted on a room bill and due upon check-out. At the airport you will find a regular 'white taxi' stand. I believe the charge to Valletta is around 17EUR, however in majority of times the taxi drivers don't bother to bring our guests directly to the hotel. They are left with all their belongings at the very begging of Valletta (next to Castille square), and pointed to the direction of the hotel, which is let's say on the other side 10-15 minutes walk, stairs included. There is also an option of downloading a taxi app, which will allow you to book a taxi in a real time. Should you have any other quires, please feel free to contact us on our email and the team will be happy to assist you. Kind regards, Jitka Stredulova

Hello, I hope this message finds you well. At Ursulino Valletta we do not offer any entertainment, however over the festive season there is always something going on in Valletta, with the National New Years Eve celebrations just being held a few minutes away on foot from Ursulino Valletta. Every evening we do offer our guests on a complimentary basis our trademark Aperitivo. This consists of a glass of prosecco and a small assortment of food.
