I cannot say enough great things about our visit. We were warmly greeted and offered beverages and fruit. The people caring for us were so helpful, caring, friendly, and attentive our entire stay. They genuinely cared about all of our needs and showed us a map of the city upon arrival. The location was perfect for walking the city and it was a short walk to the bus station. The rooms were so fun and the decor made me wish I could spend a night in every room. Breakfast was delicious. The food court and market were close and have affordable and delicious options for snacks and meals. I cannot wait to return and will continue to tell friends that this was one of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed!

I absolutely love this property,it’s so clean and beautiful the entire place is very eclectic mixed with classic architecture. I had a fabulous time there breakfast is delicious they had a wide range of foods which is great because I’m highly allergic to gluten. The building is situated in a little alcove from the main street so it’s an easy walk, you’re literally within the entire city center. The customer service of the staff was absolutely wonderful they sat down with me showed me were everything was on a map and they have a lot of great ideas for places to eat as well as things to do and see, really just absolutely fantastic. I would absolutely stay here again.

Stayed five nights at the Valletta Lucente (18th May to 23rd May 2022). Charles and Dorothy made us very welcome (although we didn't actually meet Charles until our final day as he was away). Upon arrival we were checked in, paid the hotel cost, and Dorothy gave us a map of Valletta and kindly showed us on the map where the main tourist sightseeing places were, how to get there, etc.

Our room (the Marienne) was on the second floor with the window overlooking St Lucia's street. St Lucia's street is pedestrian only and therefore closed to traffic. If you wish to get a Taxi/Bolt you need to walk out of the hotel, turning right and walk about 30 metres downhill to the road. We called a Bolt taxi from there a couple of times and on each occasion the Bolt taxi turned up in quick time.

The Marienne room was very big. More like staying in an apartment (rather than a hotel) with a bedroom area, a lounge area and an extra large bathroom with walk-in shower. We really liked out room. Charles and Dorothy left some flowers in the room to welcome us, with a note saying that they hoped we enjoy our stay, etc. Probably something they do for all of their guests but a nice touch and very much appreciated (don't think we have had this at any other hotel).

The area around the Valletta Lucente seemed perfectly safe and there are lots of bars/restaurants nearby so we never went hungry/thirsty. This being the case it can be a little noisy at times but, for us, the noise never went on too late. Midnight at the very latest, however things generally quietened down (noise wise) before 10pm, although still plenty of people about at this time. Be advised that St Lucia Street is located on a fairly steep hill so you need a little bit of energy to walk uphill, but plain sailing on the return walk.

Most of the sightseeing attractions of Valletta are nearby and within walking distance so the perfect location for this sort of holiday.

If I have one minor gripe it was that there are no safe in the room. That said, Charles and Dorothy were happy to put our passports, etc in their own hotel safe. It just meant that we had to ask Dorothy/Charles if we needed to access our valuables at any time. But they were always happy to assist.

We had a great time in Valetta (and indeed Malta generally). Much of this was due to our stay at the Valetta Lucente and the warm welcome from Dorothy and Charles.

Booked the penthouse which had a large terrace which is great when the temperature is high. The staff was wonderful and very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, though not standard. The guesthouse is beautiful with lots of nice details. Also it's very centrally located smack in the middle of Valletta with a bus station to travel the island nearby as well as ferries to Gozo.

There are some drawbacks however. The setup of the room is a bit awkward. There is a narrow spiral staircase in the middle, separating the terraces, washroom and bedroom/shower. This could have been arranged better. There are two showers and two sinks which is a unnecessary gimmick, as the room could have been bigger without two showers, which could be placed in the place of one of the sinks. Also the roof view is nice, but just get rid of the staircase.
Finally, the noise is bad. Church bells early morning and partying till late at night. Not the hotels fault, but something to keep in mind.

This is a beautiful old building in one of the most vibrant areas of Valletta, steeped in history and oozing charm and quirky details inside. The owners, Charles and Dorothy, are discreet but charming and welcoming - and have been absolutely incredible during a year of disruption to my original booking. The breakfast buffet is prepared by Charles and has fascinating tastes, different every day. You literally step out into central Valletta, St Lucia’s Street is full of bars and restaurants so be aware that if you like an early night and are a light sleeper, a room without a street view might be best .. the buzz goes on until midnight.

We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again, we were made to feel completely at home and being able to pop in and out to eat and drink just steps from the hotel suited us perfectly. You’re also on the side of Valletta that has the Gozo Fast Ferry and also the boats to Three Cities within 500 yards of the Lucente, as well as the Saluting Battery if you want to hear the noon or four o’clock cannon.

Tip: in Lucia room, the bathroom is incorporated into the main bedroom with frosted glass and a fairly open toilet, so if you’re with someone that you require privacy with, this isn’t the room for you.

A wonderful little hotel right in the center of Valletta, run by the most considerate and helpful hosts! The rooms are charmingly and creatively decorated and totally comfortable! Dorothy and Charles could not be more gracious hosts, always available and continually offering assistance to their clientele. Their breakfasts are delicious and substantial and offered a huge variety of items. They communicated effectively with us prior to our arrival, personally helped us with our baggage both coming and going, and offered us invaluable recommendations for restaurants, tours and shopping.

They made our visit to Malta a huge success, and we will be forever grateful to them for everything!

We recently stayed at Valletta Lucente Guest House for our 5th wedding anniversary and had the most beautiful stay.
The guest house is charming upon arrival with an abundance of historical features, gorgeous high ceilings in the breakfast room and various murals on the staircase walls of the hallway. All of the staff were so welcoming when we checked in and kindly spent time showing us places of interest on the map, many of which we wouldn’t have known to have visited.

We can’t express how stunning our room was! We stayed in the suite which was honestly the most beautiful hotel room we have ever stayed in. Our room was also decorated for our anniversary with swans and rose petals which was a lovely touch. The location is excellent, you step straight out of the guest house into the heart of Valletta and within minutes you can walk to all of the main attractions and enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants on the stairs which had a lovely atmosphere.

We also loved the ceramic shop within reception, all of which are handmade, and purchased a beautiful ceramic tile which is so unique and reminds us of our holiday. We highly recommend this guest house and will be booking to stay again next year as we plan more trips to Valletta.

The Valletta Lucente is truly a the product of true love, devotion and very hard work to create an amazing piece of living art. I was very privileged to have stayed in the Aurora suite on the third floor overlooking the inner courtyard. Even though I spent a week there I was still finding amazing quirky little touches in the room and as for the bed I think its the best bed I've ever slept in. Even though my room was on the third floor it was an easy climb up the stairs but for those days when you've walked your feet off there is a cute little lift but please at least once use the stairs to admire all the objects adorning the walls and landings, you will not be disappointed. Breakfast was excellent, everything was homemade and beautifully presented. Dorothy, Charles and their small team of staff work extremely hard to make your stay amazing and for me my stay went above and beyond what I was expecting

We spent four nights here during our stay in Malta, and firstly, the location (in a charming alley filled with picturesque restaurants with tables on the cobblestone steps) cannot be beat. This made for an excellent base while exploring both Valletta and the island (we had a car and parked in the pay-structure a 10 minute walk from the property).

Breakfast in the atrium was lovely every morning. We stayed in the Lucrezia Penthouse Suite, which has two balconies, although just being the two of us, we didn't really use the larger and more private lower terrace as the view from the top balcony is incredible. We especially loved sipping wine and looking out over the bell towers towards the three cities.

The room itself was a bit smaller than we were expecting, but by no means an issue. The spiral staircase however was a bit precarious, and it's a little daunting going up and down them in the middle of the night to use the bathroom which is on the lowest of three floors (which also incidentally is the entryway). This didn't bother us for the first few nights, as the charm of the city, the hotel and the view more than made up for it, though by the fourth night we were definitely ready for a room with a bathroom that was less of a trek.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would easily return to the hotel when next we're in Malta (though we may opt to try a different penthouse suite if we are staying longer than a couple days).

They truly excelled in every aspect, from their exceptional customer service and well-appointed rooms to the delightful breakfast offerings. The owners, Charles and Dorothy, were not only gracious but also incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The room we stayed in was a true gem, featuring a charming decor, a luxuriously comfortable bed, and efficient air conditioning. Immaculate cleanliness and an abundance of amenities made it a home away from home. The property's strategic location in the heart of Valletta, right around the corner from the main dining and attractions hub, made exploring the city an absolute breeze. To top it off, we had the privilege of staying in the Layla penthouse on the fourth floor, boasting not one but two enchanting terraces, one of which treated us to captivating views of the harbor.
