We stayed just 2 nights in AX The Palace, but immediately upon arrival we regretted that it wasn’t a longer stay! The service was impeccable, room absolutely stunning, breakfast top-notch, and facilities (particularly the rooftop area and infinity pool, despite being very cold 😬) were amazing! Thanks so much for a fabulous couple of days, we’ll be recommending this hotel to all of our friends and family.
Best nasigeoreng I have tasted after very long time. The food is awesome here and the best part is their service they provide specially salauddin has given us a wonderful service. Highly recommended. Worth it.
Stayed here with my mum for 7 nights in August - half-board in a superior room with a city view balcony after initially booking their closed sister hotel The Victoria. During covid, the buffet is open only at breakfast with very limited staff members (I counted only 1 some mornings) handing you your food. We were given the option to eat each night in Talk of The Town which has 3 rotating menus, Temptasian which has 2 and The Lounge Rooftop Grill which has 1. PROS - Most comfortable hotel bed both of us have ever slept in, the pillows were so soft and a light sheet was provided if the duvet was too hot. Great view over Malta from our 5th floor balcony with two chairs and table. Air conditioning in our room was excellent. - The rooftop infinity pool does not disappoint, amazing sunsets and views all day and night from the 9th floor, absolutely loved it. We did not struggle to get a lounger despite the hotel selling tickets to outside guests. Fresh good quality towels easily available. - Temptasian food and cocktails were absolutely incredible (insanely massive portions though) with a brilliant atmosphere. We ate here 4 nights out of 7 as it is the far superior restaurant in the hotel without competition.. The Peking duck is out of this world. - Staff were exceptionally lovely right down to housekeeping, especially the Temptasian staff, Charles from reception and Lawrence from Talk of the Town. CONS - The bathroom was budget. Not what I would have expected from a 5* hotel. No finishing detail. - Cocktails by the pool were really bad. Made completely differently depending on which bartender was working. Some I couldn't recognise as the cocktail I had asked for. No tequila, a 5* hotel should be fully stocked. Absolutely loaded with ice, so tasted like straight up water and alcohol after 10 minutes in the sun. - Breakfast buffet at The Tabloid was beyond disappointing. I couldn't find much to eat apart from pineapple and watermelon. Although one morning the fresh pineapple had been replaced by tinned! Fruit juice did not seem fresh. The poached eggs were hard boiled. Bread was hard as a rock. Sausages were of poor quality and overdone. Cook to order omelettes either overdone or burnt. One sad looking bottle of champagne sat in the corner. Cafetira style yoghurt pots. I've had a far better breakfast in a Holiday inn Express. Some of it was borderline inedible. Need way more staff on, they are overstretched and it effects service. Had to wait ages to get coffee at our table (although the fresh coffee was very good). - The Lounge Grill on the rooftop was dire. Amazing scenery but the food was just ridiculous. The 'antipasta board' was a bit of a joke to be honest - tortilla chips, one cup of sliced cheddar, one cup of olives, some bread and humous? Worst pizza we have ever had, tasteless and mostly cheese despite sounding flavour packed on the menu. Pasta was just bland and chewy. Our offering for dessert was snickers cake or berry cheesecake. Not quite 5* fine dining. Could get better pub grub. - More bland and chewy food in the Talk of The Town. The desserts look good but the consistency and flavour is all wrong. The rabbit was overcooked and hard to eat. In general it is a nice hotel and you would most likely have a good time here but not 5* by any stretch of the imagination so make sure your staying with a good deal on the price. Food needs serious work with some better trained caters brought in? Cannot fault the restaurant staff themselves though!…
We were staying from 22.09.20 in this hotel, we got upgraded room, it was our 3rd time stay, room with a very nice view, large room, large bed, large bathroom and nice breakfast, great last floor swimming pool with a nice bar and restaurant
On our 29th Anniversary , since we could not travel abroad, we decided to go on a Staycation in Malta and chose AX The Palace Hotel . The location is great as it is central and close to all amenities. We booked room 248 with balcony which was spacious and very clean. Food was superb both breakfast and dinner. The entire staff are all friendly and very helpful more so that we were very impressed. One word describes it all EXCELLENT
