My Mum and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June. We were a little apprehensive before we arrived as had seen reviews about the noise from building work however, because of this we were expecting the worst, but it wasn't as bad...More
Although the frontage isn't as imposing nor grand-looking as some hotels, don't let it deter you. The interior is of a very good standard and is kept clean (as are the rooms) and welcoming. My wife and I chose a room with a balcony at...More

Can't say 100% for sure what you'll get, but some of the rooms are in a separate building down a side street. While these don't have a sea view and have the central shaft you're talking about, they all had balconies and are actually quieter. The central shaft all had bathroom windows, so not really an issue. The rooms in the main building are on the main road so you'll get more traffic noise. It depends if you want a sea view or a quieter space.
