The Plaza & Plaza Regency Hotels boast a blend of modern comfort and stunning views that guests often appreciate, particularly the clean pool area and the satisfying breakfast options. While some guests have called out the small bathrooms and varying towel quality, the overall cleanliness receives high marks with daily room servicing. The location is frequently lauded for its proximity to local attractions. However, opinions on value are divided, with some guests finding room amenities and views inconsistent with the price. The service is generally well-regarded, though occasional slow responses are noted.

Arrived in the evening, having booked a superior seaview room, but when we went up all we could see was trees and the sound of the traffic was constant. I went down to reception, but the staff member on duty wasn't able to do anything about it and I'd have to see the day staff. Anyway, the traffic was constant until well after midnight, but we both managed to sleep eventually - the bed being super comfortable helped. Next morning, the staff apologised and moved us to the 5th floor with a fantastic view and very quiet.
Both rooms were spotlessly clean, had super comfortable beds and lovely showers.
Breakfast was very good with lots of choice, with hot food fresh, with that and everything else replenished whenever needed.
Indoor pool was small but lovely and warm.
All areas of the hotel are spotless, and we could see that all the staff worked very hard and were always friendly whenever came into contact with them.
There's plenty of buses that stop outside the hotel with regular services to different parts of the island.

The hotel rooms are spacious and clean and they are serviced on a daily basis. There is always hot water available for a shower and the air conditioning is very effective. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each room. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good and fresh watermelon available every day. Great views from the sixth floor restaurant.

Standard rooms do not have a fridge, but the air conditioning keeps bottles of water cool.

We stayed here for a week in October which was about two days too long, five days is enough.

The hotel is on a very busy road so if you get a room on the first floor, which we refused, it’s got to be noisy, yet probably gets quieter as the day gets later.

Our room was a studio which means it had a dining table and small but more than adequate kitchen which was very well kitted out.
The room was very spacious and we can’t fault it apart from the bathroom needs some updating.

The hotel is over two medium towers which means if like us your on one side you have to get the lift down to the ground floor and then the other lift to the breakfast area or pool area if your using it.

The breakfast is adequate won’t lift you to great heights but you can stuff your face if that’s what you want, that said the bacon is awful, really bad.

The pool area is too overfilled with sun beds which makes it uninviting, we only used it twice late afternoon when a large part gets no sun. One gripe is that even though the pool bar was never busy the lad never once wiped down the tables, which means they were always drink stained from other customers. One other gripe was that they had no decent white wine just some roughy stuff for €7.50, just not sure why.

Evening meal is a small buffet for €15 each including a glass of wine beer or soft drink, it’s ok but it’s the staff who make it they are lovely.

We didn’t realise when we booked that the hotel is only a three star and that’s exactly what it is, no more but no less.

Would I stay here again, no but I wouldn’t come to Malta again, both left me blank.

Yesterday we finished up our week long couples stay at the plaza regency hotel in Sliema. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would defiantly recommend people to stay there if they were looking for something that was value for money.

The hotel ranks a 3 star which I would say is very accurate. It has all of the requirements of a 3 star hotel. In fact I would go as far as to say that with a little more renovation you would be looking at a hotel that has the potential to be 4 stars. The lobby areas were beautiful and modern and the hotel was very clean overall in the public areas. There is an indoor pool and rooftop buffet style restaurant that has gorgeous views over Sliema.

Breakfast :
We had breakfast one morning and the selection was nice. The only critique I would give on breakfast is regarding the bread. There was a lovely baked baguette that people could cut themselves to their preference.

As to avoid people touching the part of the bread others would potentially eat, they just had a piece of tissue covering it. Perhaps it would be easier to get smaller baked baguettes so people could make their own sandwich or maybe have the slices pre cut to avoid others touching the bread ?
Breakfast was €10 per person if not included in the rate. I guess it was fair for the wide selection that was present.

Bedroom:
We stayed in a room towards the back of the hotel on the 4th floor. Although disappointed initially we didn’t have a balcony or a front facing room, This quickly changed as we loved how spacious the room we had was. There was one single bed, a very clean bathroom and also 2 more single beds that were pushed together to make one double.

There was a lovely sliding door looking out onto the rooftops of Malta and we even had a view of a beautiful lemon tree. The only point I make about the rooms would be that there is no lock on the inside of the door. Just the card keys are used to gain access. It may be best to invest in this for sure as it adds an extra layer of security and avoids any embarrassing moments for housekeeping if the guests forget to put the “do not disturb” sign on the door.

The hotel also has a lovely rooftop pool but sadly this was under renovations while we were there. I think this is a great added amenity to have and I would love to come back sometime in the future to try it out. Overall if you are looking for a clean, pleasant hotel with lovely staff, modern facilities and somewhere close to the action then it is the best place for you in Malta. We enjoyed it a lot and would totally recommend it.

Location is fantastic, short walks to either Sliema or St Julians, the rooms have now been modernised so much better than the last time i stayed in 2013, we had seaview self catering studio, which has a microwave, kettle, 2 ring hob, toaster, so if you wanted you could make food (we didnt bother as there are to many nice places to eat nearby). Leonard who ran the pool bar was fantastic and really looked after us during our stay and the pool is lovely but not that large.
Now the niggles, the maids come in daily to change towels and make the beds but do no cleaning, so after a week the floor was really dirty as was the sink and shower, and they also come quite early and do not knock just walk straight in. The worst thing about the hotel is the day time reception staff, they are rude, unhelpful and generally cant be bothered.

Stayed in room. 433 on 4th floor. This level gives you a good view of the lo ely bay without the noise from the dinning room which you would get on 5th floor as dinning room. directly above.
Unfortunately the road noise is excessive though it does quieten down late at night.
At our visit the pool and sun terrace were being refurbished and therfore unusable They will not be finished anytime soon. This leaves you with only a rocky outcrop to sunbathe on the foreshore and no sunbeds so it's very uncomfortable. The terrace bar and lounge bar were also closed so you needed to go out to eat and have a drink. There are tea and coffee facilities in the room and a generous fridge so you can stock up at the local Llidl, a ten mi use walk away. The rooms are clean but basic Staff were very pleasant. The breakfast food we found poor.Little choice and o ly tea plates available. The serving area is too small and caused long ques to form.A coffeemaker e provided hot drinks but tea also came from the same machine and it left the tea tasting g of coffee.A suggestion would be to provide a teapot of tea for none coffee drinkers.
The manager ,Mr Crematis is very approachable if you have issues.
Overall we were disappointed with the lack of open facilities and were not pre warned about this prior to our trip by TUI who I have raised the issues with. Not a suitable hotel for children .
Photos of renovations provided.
I think the hotel would be 3 star once the pool etc is completed and the breakfast improved.
I do realise covid and Ukraine issues have caused problems and material supplies but we really should have been offered alternative accommodation prior to travel.

We stopped at the Plaza for 14 days, arriving back last week. We went very apprehensively after reading the poor reviews, although we knew that Malta was having a lot of renovating work being done, but from the start were pleasantly surprised by all of it. We arrived at 3am in the morning, no problems with the night watchman, very pleasant, booked a superior room 433, extremely pleased with. (So much for the negative comment from the woman that stopped there the week before, obviously expected a 5 star hotel !!) Large room, with kettle and decent sized fridge, tiny freezer, but I could get the ice packs and a small ice cream in it. Shower, unfortunately no shower cap but I did take one. Super view over the coastline... please remember that if you have a room with a seaview in Malta, or most seaside hotels, there is a road that runs between them. A lot quieter than Central Sliema, where the road is dual carriageway and noisy at night. Double glazed doors that closed and shut out noise for sleeping. The room was also SPOTLESS, and the chambermaid came in daily, lovely, lovely lady.
Breakfast ran until 10am, everyone seem to go in late making it a busier time, fortunately we wanted to make the most of the days and got in early. You could have a full cooked meal, ( it varied as to how the eggs were cooked, sometimes fried, sometimes scrambled.) 6 different cereals, Different breads, toasts, salad, yogurt, fresh and tinned fruit. Tea (including mint, & green) & coffee machines, fruit juice. Carmen was a little gem, along with Miriam and a tall slim Indian lad, I did not get his name. Nice to have a drink on the terrace in the afternoon with Carmen again, very pleasant to talk to. Although the swimming pool was not operative the first few days as they were renovating it, it now is and looking fresh and clean. The indoor pool was also working. Costa Coffee is on the ground floor, who also do a snack if you want it. Lots of ice cream shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The Tallnja Explore Card (Bus Pass) which cost 21 euros for any amount of trips for a week, was well worth the money, to jump on and off the buses, which run frequently in front of the hotel. Its a easy walk to St Julians, and also to Sliema ferries, if you cut through estate by Boots the Chemist. The only down side were the scooters going along the paths, unfortunately I don't think they are being policed correctly !!

Mattresses were very uncomfortable and soft but room was a good size. On the last night there was the loudest flowing water noise, wasn't toilet/shower/sink and could not work out what it was, and had to be up in 4 hours for airport so wasn't appreciated! Not sure if it was Aircon but wounded like it was behind our wall behind the bed!

The breakfast was a good bonus to have hot food or yoghurt/fruit. The sea view in room was lovely and glad we paid for it. Was nice to have fridge and tea facilities yet the cleaners never replaced the milk following day 1 despite me asking! Very annoying. Hairdryer in the room is also very un-powerful - would bring your own!

We also arranged an overpriced taxi through the hotel to pick us up at 1am and it wasn't waiting as they said it would! We had to call the hotel and taxi company several times, costing me money. Not a good service when you expect to have a taxi waiting for you when paying a premium price. We complained to the guy on reception and he was useless and said he couldn't help and we'd have to speak to manager in morning, and still charged us the full 23 euros despite awful service. We could have got a bolt taxi for 6 euros cheaper and within minutes so please do this instead if you are offered a taxi from the hotel!!

Location was great, able to walk to other side of Sliema and St Julian's each night for dinner/drinks. Bus stop straight outside hotel was convenient and took you everywhere all over the island.

On arriving we were pleasantly surprised after reading the latest reviews. I did find it odd we had to walk through a restaurant to get to the hotel or you could use an extremely small alley way to access it. The room was lovely, the bed extremely comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor and had lovely sea views, if you opened the balcony door it was noisy due to road noise but when closed it was fine. There were no tea/coffee facilities or a fridge in the room, there was however a price list stating you could have these at an extra cost of €1.50 a day for the tea/coffee and €3.50 a day for the fridge. My husband went down to reception to pay for the tea/coffee service only to be told they had no kettles. Why advertise a service in the room that you can’t provide? There was a safe in the room but it didn’t work.
The upstairs pool wasn’t open and like others have said no restaurant/ bar. We weren’t interested in these but others would be disappointed. We’re honestly not too fussy as we generally like to be out most of the day and hotels are just a base for us. I would happily stay here again and I’m sure in a few months the hotel will have sorted out the issues. It’s a shame they aren’t honest in saying they are improving the place. The restaurants opposite frescos and Peppis are amazing and I’d highly recommend eating there.

HOTEL
Hotel was better than expected for a 3 star resort. Quite quiet (not really for young children) Small pool, pool bar, umbrellas and beds for everyone in a great location with beautiful sea views.
Unlimited breakfast, hot and cold options (we did breakfast only)
Closes at 10am (I think 10.30/11am would be better)
ROOM
Room was as expected for 3 star. Comfy beds, Ensuite, small balcony. Cleaners came everyday with fresh towels l, made beds and bit of a clean up and they were friendly and helpful. We paid extra for a room with a view and wow what a view. Absolutely stunning and well worth it.
OVERALL
Very pleased. Great location. Hotel better than expected for a 3 star.
