A family-run place an a nice place to stay. It is actually an old convent made in to hotell and a restaurant. You feel welcome and at ease. The food is "out of this world". I cannot recommend Vecchio Convento any higher! Portico di Romagna is really out in the countryside in a wine district,(Not far from Ravenna) half way... More

This was authentic Italy at its best. We spent four terrific days at this hotel, which is family owned and operated, in the tiny town of Portico di Romagna. Hospitality from Marisa and her family was warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming. We arrived on a Friday afternoon in time for the wine tasting hosted by Massimiliano, chef and sommelier. We... A second visit: eighteen months after our previous stay we returned to this little paradise in "La Valle del Montone". Nothing had changed and it was like returning to the bosom of one's own family. We enjoyed a week of laughter, good food & wine and the inevitable mid-week party. You do need a car to get here, the local... More

This is a special hotel run by special people. If you are a foodie and want a special adventure, this is a great place to stay. We enjoyed cooking lessons, truffle hunting (The dog found three black truffles :-)), a visit to Ravenna and venture walks. The food from each cooking lesson is enjoyed by all that evening. We spent three terrific days in this hotel. Family owned and operated in the tiny town of Portico di Romagna. Hospitality is outstanding, friendly and welcoming. Although there are no famous tourist sites nearby (Florence is about 90 minutes away) there is lots to do. We went truffle hunting with Mattais and his terrific truffle hunting dog and found about... We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a yoga 'retreat' (actually more like a feast!). The main part of the hotel was full so we were given a small apartment in the village, which was very comfortable and gave us plenty of our own space, Because of our yoga commitments we had a 'brunch' at 10:30 and a... A family run hotel which is really welcoming. We were five ladies of a certain age on a weeks cookery course which lived up to our every expectation. We stayed at the Vecchio Convento for 7 nights late March, and loved every minute. Its a family run hotel, and from the time we were met in Forli by one of the sons, we felt part of the family.
