We had an excellent stay at the Duke hotel in Gozo. Centrally located in Victoria. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is superb. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. We will surely stay at this hotel again.

Bang in the middle of Victoria, the odd thing is that the hotel inhabits the top two floors of a shopping centre and so access is through the shopping centre itself. However this also helps convenience as there's a snack bar and supermarket (as well as loads of other shops) on the lower floors. The hotel is also located really near the central bus station (through a park with lots of very friendly cats in) with one bus stop (which serves some venues in the west of Gozo) even closer. The rooms are nice but set-up for summer; the bathrooms in February were freezing and everything stayed wet forever - even with the heated towel rail on. This was exacerbated by there being no screen on the over-bath shower. Oddly as well there seems no rhyme nor reason as to when we'd get more towels / toiletries, when towels / toiletries would inexplicably be taken away and not replaced! The hot-tub on the balcony was fantastic and a core reason why we chose the hotel (along with the very positive reports on the breakfasts). We were initially in a room at the back of the hotel, but were woken up by exceptionally loud work going on in one of the flats below three mornings in a row. As a result we were moved to a larger room at the front which was much quieter (and had a view of the citadella). It did have its own challenges (outlined above) but I imagine in spring / summer it would be amazing. Breakfast was really good - fresh and a great range of options - plus the service was always really top notch. The service on the front-desk was less good but always pretty reasonable, and I did genuinely believe that they wanted the best for their guests. Overall it's an excellent value hotel (especially out of the high season) which is a very good option for exploring the beautiful island of Gozo.

I stayed in this hotel in September 2019 (and the previous year). On both occasions, the hotel has been excellent in both service and facilities. The room was always kept tidy, the breakfast options were always varied and good, and the location perfectly situated in the centre of Victoria. If you hire a car, there is a free public car park at the rear of the property which I have never had any issues with, and a cafe/ restaurant on the lower floor of the shopping mall. I stayed in the room with the garden view, and although the road can be busy outside, even on the balcony it is very peaceful. I have to give credit to the management who went out of their way on my last view to accommodate me, even though the hotel was shown as being full on Trip Advisor. They responded very quickly to my enquiry and were very helpful. As a solo traveller, I found the hotel to be perfect for what I need. Hopefully, I can get back again this year.

There are number of positive reviews which I fully understand are also based on the fact that hotel is rather competitively priced. However we stayed during carnival season and the only room that was available was jacuzzi room that has also been priced according to the high season. Actually it was way more expensive than any other 5 star hotel in Gozo at this moment. Therefore for this price a real 5 star service was expected. Positive: -mid size hotel, clean, conveniently located, good room size, nice breakfast. Negative: -most of the rooms are overlooking the huge parking lot rather than beautiful views pictured on the hotel web site (they say this views are only available from the presidential suite) -hotel occupies top floor of the shopping mall and business center. Therefore the entrance is via public lifts that sometimes are very busy. Entering the hotel requires going inside of shipping mall. -hotel parking is at -4 floor with rather dangerous access since cars are going down and up via same ramp and traffic lights are simply neglected by locals. we nearly bumped into descending car which was going under the red light. There is queue to enter the car park during the day since there are also shopping mall customers. -there is a nightclub entrance near the carpark entrance therefore when club is operating (I assumed they start around 22.00) the access to carpark is closed which makes it difficult to drive out for a dinner. we had to struggle to get in after dinner. -it is very very cold in the bathroom in winter since there is no underfloor heating at all -jacuzzi on the terrace is very nice addition with the only problem you cannot actually easily switch it off not to bother you at night. The worst for me was the reception and booking service as it is very difficult to reach the hotel by phone, it is either busy or not responding. They also simply ignored 2 of my e-mails. Also reservation process on the phone was very unwelcoming (with attempt to sell the room much higher than at their own web site). Same was the general attitude of reception upon arrival that i find simply unacceptable. There were 3 arrogant persons barely looking at you despite we were the only customers checking in. They lazily wanted to sent me down to re-park the car just for the lack of desire to re-allocate parking space (i managed to pursue them). For truth sake I have to mention that they have notably improved later on, but the first impression was still there. All this would be ok for their regular (and competitive price), but definitely not suitable at all for their high season rack rate.

Our stay here was a wonderful night on Gozo. The staff, our room, and breakfast were all excellent, would recommend staying here to anyone visiting the island as it is very conveniently located to all parts of the island. Parking was conviently located and the property was very easy to find.
