Although the weather was overcast, the Manor still looked wonderful. Super tea and biscuits in the garden. The room, Hornsea was clean spacious, overlooking the gardens. First class meal. We were so full, but happy. Only one fault and not enough to damage the 5 star rating, breakfast was a little over cooked.

We enjoyed a superb stay in this lovely hotel as a pick me up in the dull days of January. We booked early on the hotel website and were given one of two suites. It was very spacious and beautifully appointed, with lovely views over the hotel garden. We enjoyed tea in front of a roaring fire following a walk... More

This hotel shows why the classification system sometimes doesn't work. Officially 3 star but better than most 5 stars. I was doing some work in Cornwall and decided to spend a few extra days and travel with my wife and our Labrador. We had a courtyard suite which was excellent. A big room with sitting area (without being separated off... More

We visited Lewtrenchard Manor on a beautiful day in July showing off the grounds to perfection. In the evening we elected to dine in the Purple Carrot room for a private dining experience like no other we have ever experienced. The dining room is narrow with a long curved table at which the diners are seated on one side only,... More

From the moment we arrived, to the time we left, our stay at Lewtrenchard Manor was excellent, Mrs Murray - one of the current owners, clearly loves it with a passion and great pride, which showed when we latched onto a guided tour of the building. The room we stayed in - St Clements - was extremely spacious and comfortable,... More

A beautiful gem of a hotel tucked away in an isolated setting close to Dartmoor National Park. Perfect for exploring the local walking routes, and National Trust properties. The hotel is family run, with a a very keen eye to detail. Rooms are comfortable, and decorated in a sympathetic manor. Unsurprisingly, the hotel had a lot of returning guests as... More

We went to Lewtrenchard Manor recently for dinner on the occasion of a family birthday celebration. The staff was exceptionally service oriented, polite and pleasant. The Chef even organized a cake at very short notice. The menu has choices to fit different dietary preferences. The meals were very well presented and delicious. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would... More

This was a great place to stay for a couple of nights on the west edge of Dartmoor. A wonderful and historic country house dating back to the 1600's but with all the amenities and service of a top class hotel. Expect wood panelling, antique furnishings, a plethora of historic oil paintings and artefacts coupled with a warm welcome by... More

From the moment we drove into the forecourt it was going to be a special visit. A Jacobean manor tucked away in its own secret valley. Cooing doves, David Austin roses, stained glass windows, oak panelled rooms. A great welcome and fantastic dinner. A must visit!!!
