A clean hotel in the center of Kyrenia, away from the sea and the beach. There is no parking problem. Close to Cratos, vuni oskar and pasha casinos. It is a 3-storey hotel and 2-storey bungolows (one room on each floor). It is always a clean and cute hotel with olive, orange and banana trees in its garden. The rooms have a hair dryer, kettle and mini bar (the one in my room was not cooled). The mini bar is delivered empty. There is a safe, but I think it is paid. The room is cleaned every day and is spotless. For breakfast, there is an open buffet and hot items such as omelettes, french fries, sausages (pork sausages for foreign guests), 10-15 types of products such as olives and cheese, products such as 3-4 types of bagels and very delicious jams. A variety of coffees will be available at the tea and coffee machine and sympathetic and friendly staff will be waiting for you every morning. Dinner is open buffet and includes a main course of meat, chicken and fish, 5-6 items such as pizza, rice and pasta, 10-15 types of siguk appetizers, 4-5 types of desserts (be sure to try the pumpkin dessert, I wish it had tahini with it) and of course drinks are paid. . We can say that the hands of the chefs are very delicious. The pool area and everywhere is clean. Thanks to the night security guard, our brother from Hatay, who cleans the area around the pool until the morning. There is a nice bar next to the pool and you can find alcoholic and non-alcoholic products for a fee. Is it preferable? It may be preferred if you do not have a nature that makes everything a problem. It would be better if the price does not increase for now in terms of performance.

We have recently returned from two weeks staying at Altinkaya. Altinkaya is somewhat of a conundrum as the grounds are beautifully maintained and it has a pleasant swimming pool. We stayed in the hotel on the first floor at the back of the building. The room was quiet and had a view of the mountains , although somewhat obscured by the tall trees that edge along the hotels boundary . The room was basic with a tiny fridge which was barely cold, the air conditioning worked well. There was a kettle and two mugs that had been hidden away in a cupboard , complimentary tea and coffee were not provided nor any drinking glasses, although upon asking the bar man happily gave us two wine glasses . Neither the glasses or mugs were replenished with fresh ones during our stay. The bathroom consisted of a narrow bath with an over the bath shower which was generally cold or luke warm. The cleaning and replacing of towels and bedding was very hit and miss and I had to ask for our bathroom to be cleaned properly after it not having been cleaned for several days. The pool was pleasant but unfortunately the mattresses on the loungers were grubby and some of the parasols filthy and appeared to be smeared with mud. The food in the restaurant was fresh but repetitive and basic. Staffing seemed thin on the ground but they were pleasant and happy to help. Information on trips and activities in the reception area is out of date , we asked about Horse riding and were told this had not resumed following covid , yet the poster remained during the entirety of our stay. The communal areas in the hotel looked very nice and we sat inside the bar ( which I think is used during the cooler months ) whilst there was a heavy storm one evening. The lounge area has a good library of books and there is a large new restaurant. In conclusion Altinkaya has the potential to be a great hotel it just needs some attention to detail.

I gave this hotel five out of five, but I want to make it clear that this is not a five star hotel with every amenity known to man.
This is an independent straightforward family run hotel catering for family holidays in the sun. The Hotel is arranged as a central block with separate wings of chalets on either side and a pool in the centre. The pool and gardens were beautifully maintained. At this low season part of the main building was in the process of being gutted and having a major refurb. This March was the coldest for forty years, yet for Melissa and her staff Khadia and Memmet nothing was too much trouble making sure that everyone should keep warm by rearranging the furniture and bringing in more chairs to the lounge where they had a roaring fire. They also happily fetched drinks from the somewhat cooler bar for us.
The chalets vary in layout but ours was a single large room with a double bed in the centre, an additional single bed nearest the door and a sitting area at the far end with a sofa and armchair. The bathroom was small with a toilet, basin and shower. Having mentioned the cold we were pleased to find an air conditioning unit with combined heater that kept our room lovely and warm. Outside was a patio area with table and chairs.
Breakfast worked on the buffet system, primarily continental breakfast but with the addition of 6-8 hot dishes. Again nothing was too much trouble and empty used plates whisked away while we fetched more food. My personal favourite was the lovely thick yogurt and local honey. For the more adventurous there was always a selection of freshly baked local pastries, some savoury and some sweet.
Our visit was not for pleasure, on the day we attended a family funeral I was charmed to return to our chalet and find the chambermaid had left a small posy of flowers from the garden for me.
Throughout our stay we found all the staff to be unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. On leaving (for our early flight) during a thunderstorm the night porter came to fetch us and our bags with a huge umbrella which was much appreciated.
One final note - power cuts to the whole area. The hotel has invested in a generator in order to avoid the many power cuts, although there is still a moment or two of darkness until it kicks in.
On the down side some of the electrical sockets in our room didn’t work, which wasn’t too much of a problem as there were others that did. On mentioning it to Melissa she was unaware of the problem but said it would be fixed. On the plus side they’re 13amp “square” ones so no need to pack an adapter for uk travellers!
Location - A short taxi ride away is Bellapais Abbey ruins and Kybele restaurant with an amazing view down to Kyrenia and the sea. In the other direction is Kyrenia or Girne it’s Turkish name with its narrow streets and ancient harbour.
We will return on our next trip.

Great holiday as usual
Melissa and other staff are so frendly and professional, a credit to the hotel
The rooms have been refurbished and are serviced daily to a high standard. Over the years the breakfast selection has become more and more varied, catering to everyone.
In my opinion the hotel now deserves a much higher rating
Many thanks 😊

Couldn’t have asked for better service. All the staff from reception, bar, cleaners, gardners & maintenance were helpful and polite at all times. Room was cleaned daily and beds made. Breakfast was plentiful and even incorporated a few English breakfast items (beans, sausage & fried egg) The couple of small issues we had were resolved quickly and without fuss. Despite our late arrival, 10pm, we were offer food. Although slightly out of town it was easy to get around by Dolmus, taxi or by foot. Sadly, when we were here, the harbour area of Kyrenia was closed for refurbishment.
Would highly recommend for the time of year we came, quiet but not dead.

For a hotel rated 3 star this place excels. The staff are very welcoming and friendly particularly Melissa in reception who will sort out any problems and advise on the locality. The bar area is very comfortable and as we were there in March the staff lit a lovely log fire in the lounge after dinner. The bar “ measures “ are on the generous side while the prices are startlingly low! Really recommend the Brandy Sours! The pool area is large and well maintained. There are a variety of different types of room-some modernisation is on going - ours was a large bedroom with walk in shower overlooking the pool. Rooms are cleaned and towels changed daily. We look forward to returning as this hotel is like a home from home !

Just got back from our 4th visit to this hotel(8th-21st)2024,first time since covid and (yet again)it delivered the goods, all and I mean ALL the staff were friendly and very helpful, towels changed everyday,Any problems were dealt with NO fuss, meals were huge and tasty, granted it's prob a 2/3 star hotel but the service was 5 stars in our opinion.
Pool area and surrounding grounds were kept clean and watered .
The hotel is approx 10 min can ride to centre of town but anytime you needed to go somewhere Melissa at reception had it sorted.
If yr under 50 or have children this is NOT the hotel for you but if yr of the mature vintage and want a small cosy clean QUIET hotel then I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We have just returned from our 3 rd visit in year to the wonderfull family run hotel.
As always the hotel does not disappoint the pool and grounds are impeccable maintained to a very high standard.
The rooms /bungalows are comfortable clean and tidy .
New rooms have been added thus year which very high spec.
This hotel is like no other I have experienced here you are not a number you are treated like an old friend or family member ,this is why regulars return year after year two or three times a year.
The staff are fantastic from top to bottom.
All very friendly and willing to go out of there way to make sure your stay is memorable.
Taking time to chat to you.
They always go that extra mile.
I have a special diatry need and the hotel went out of there way to ensure I was accommodated.
A great hotel for all to enjoy from families couples and single travellers.
Thanks Altinkaya see you next year.

My family and I stayed at the hotel for a week. We felt like home. We would recommend it to everyone. The staff is very friendly and helps to solve any question or problem. Breakfast is simple, a little boring after a week. There are good restaurants nearby for dinner. Conveniently, there is an outside bar open all day serving drinks and food. The prices are not very high. The rooms are neat, have a refrigerator, air conditioner. Some bathrooms are newly renovated. Pools with sunbeds are comfortable, a beautiful oasis of plants has been created outside, so you don't feel like the street is nearby. The only thing to keep in mind is that the sea is quite far away, so it is more convenient to have a rented car or go with a taxi (depending on the beach, the price is about 10 EUR one way).

Back at my second home Altinkaya. The fact that most of the guests return multiple times like myself speaks for itself.
It’s like being part of the Altinkaya family, the welcome you get.
I absolutely can not understand the criticism of the food, there are so many choices at both breakfast and dinner and the staff will always make you something if not.
I can not recommend this home from home highly enough!

Is there anywhere to sit outside for breakfast and lunch please?
Answer from Sdmoorman

I can’t say for sure as I was there in March when it was cold. However there is a big terrace outside the restaurant and bar areas which would be ideal for meals outside. There is also an outside bar near the pool. We also had a small table and chairs outside our apartment. Maybe email them, they spoke English.

Hotel have 2 litre bottles of water as the biggest. Just down the road is a supermarket where you can get large bottles of water. They do Turkish coffee at breakfast.

The bar normally stays open till about midnight depending on how many people are using it. But even if the bar is closed the night porter will give you any drinks you want.
