This hotel is attached to the hospital and although it isn’t attractive on the exterior, the interior was really nice. Beds were comfy, chocolates and high quality coffee in the room, nice linens and toiletries. Very dark room, interesting elevator experience! Breakfast was good…typical Scandinavian, no hot food options…salt instead of oatmeal.

After a long day touring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula we spent the night at this hotel which was a perfect stopping point. The location overlooks the harbor, the parking is free, the rooms and bathrooms are on the larger side with coffee maker, breakfast small but nice, very quiet and reasonably priced. The rooms do not have black out curtains. The staff was very nice. The hotel is walking distance to restaurants, harbor and town. I have to say that in all my travels I have never stayed at a hotel with a Chapel. Our traveling companions are Catholic and they spent some time there. Highly recommend.

This hotel is nicely situated near the harbor. The staff kind and very serviceminded. But the beds in our room were way to soft and you will find your lying in a hole where it is difficult to change position. The bathroom was very small and you had to make up your mind before entering. There is not room for changing your mind afterward.

We arrived after a full circuit of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and were very pleased with the location of the hotel close to the harbour. We had no problem parking at the hotel and the reception was very friendly. Our room was really comfortable and clean. It had plenty of storage space for baggage too. The lift is somewhat quirky but gets you to the right floor eventually. The breakfast was good in a pleasant airy room downstairs and was more than adequate for our needs.

Lovely spot to stay in Stykkisholmur Very clean, nicely appointed rooms with a lovely view of the harbour. We were given a map of the small town and suggestions of 4 places to have dinner. A nice easy walk around the town from the hotel and to the restaurant Skippers Gastropub. There is a little bar sitting room on the main floor beside a little chapel. In the morning a delicious breakfast with a good selection of foods. Highly recommend staying for a night!

My stay at this hotel had a bad start. I arrived about 2:55 pm after a 5-hour road trip and I entered the lobby hotel area. The receptionist immediately told me to wait 5 more minutes. She did not even say hello/hi/good afternoon/welcome, nothing. Not even saying "please wait". Of course, I know the check-in time is at 3:00 pm but I felt that was not a good way to greet a guest who showed up just 5 minutes early. Another interesting problem with that receptionist (young lady) is that when I asked her how the local people pronounce "Stykkisholmur", she told me she does not know and she is not from Iceland. I found it hard to believe that an employee who works at the hotel in Stykkisholmur does not know how the local people pronounce the name of the city that she works in. Honestly speaking, as an investor, I really felt bad for whoever owns that hotel. That young lady should not have a job that has a duty of greeting and helping guests. It is just bad for the business. The hotel is in a good location. It is close to the restaurants and the ferry station for the Westfjords passengers.

The rooms themselves were comfortable and decently appointed. Climbing the steps is an experience as they are less than a meter wide! They do have a small bar that is not really staffed, you have call front desk clerk to get your drink and pay. Rooms include a light breakfast that starts at 7:00am

We lucked out and had a wonderful room, 217. It’s a southwest corner room with views of the ocean and harbor. The room was somewhat small but yet the bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was very good. The hostess Marlena and the manager were very friendly, attentive and informative. The breakfast was very good with the usual Icelandic affair. A good central base for touring Snaefellsnes peninsula. Try to stay two nights.

We stayed for just one day at the Fransiskus hotel. When we arrived are host wasn’t there to welcome us in the first place, after I rang the bell after a couple of minutes waiting she’d finally arrive. The rooms were actually quit comfortable and cosy. The beds were nice and de bathroom was just okay. But further the evening we asked for some extra coffee cups because ours were already used. After the second time asking for some drinks, coffee and for a proper water boiler, our host was replaying somehow irritated. At last I asked for some milk before sleeping, she replayed with: okay, this is the last ting I’ll do for this very evening? She told us to stop asking for things and we were crossing the line when it comes to her hospitality? So we were quit surprised about the way we’ve been treated trough our stay. Definitely the last time for my..

We stayed here July 2021 for 1 night as we traversed the ring road. Beds and pillows - all very good, blackout curtains = could have been better, not dark enough like some of the others, but I managed. The room included tea, and a Nespresso maker. The complimentary breakfast had just about everything you could want, decent strong coffee and fresh bread. Fruits, vegetables, cereals, skyr, and hot/cooked food as well. Overall, a very nice, enjoyable breakfast. Very nice bathroom and shower except that the shower head/handle would not stay up high enough on the pole (even after I tried tightening it), so it kept sliding down to chest level - not a great shower experience. The one thing I didn't appreciate was that I was assigned a "single" room. It had a twin bed, something I have't slept in since university. - way too small. I was traveling with family, but as I was not part of a "couple," they put me in a single room. I could understand if they were completely, solidly booked (they were not) and it was the ONLY option, but as t stands, a standard room would have been much more appropriate and courteous. Overall, a very nice, comfortable stay and I would recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay as they travel the ring road. Dinner tip - YOU MUST EAT AT Narfeyrarstofa - OUTSTANDING!!
