Really nice hotel. The room was clean and the beds were really good. You have to wait a little bit until the shower is nice and warm. We stayed in room 216 with a beautiful view on the lighthouse. The breakfast was one of the best we'd in Iceland.
We stayed there for 2 nights during a recent visit to Iceland. Good clean rooms and nice breakfast choices available 7:30-10 and included in room price. We were able to see the Northern Lights from an overlook by the hotel. It was the best we saw them during our whole stay.
We had stayed in so many guesthouses, it was nice to be in a hotel again. The hotel is connected to a hospital. Our room's location was just off the lobby, so not really the best, but it was comfortable. Small bathroom with half open shower. TV in room was nice. On site free parking (but I noticed it did get crowded out there later and people parked on sidewalk or grass). Little view of harbor and sunset. Easy to get out and walk around the town. Breakfast was ok.
The night manager went out of his way being helpful. Our flights had been cancelled and so we were delayed getting there until about 11:30pm. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. We overlooked the harbor and could watch the ferry loading and leaving. Even with the location by the harbor it was quiet. Breakfast was nice and the staff accommodating. They recommended a short walk around the area. When we left we felt lucky to have selected staying there on August 21st.
In Stykkisholmur tonight, staying at the Franciskus Hotel, this is an odd place in that it has a chapel right inside the front door and, it seems, an attached hospital. Mass times are posted on the Entrance door. Otherwise it seems a normal Hotel?. We were given a great room (216) at the back which overlooked the harbour and the ocean. We checked in then went for a short drive around the town including the impressively styled church up on the hill. From here, one had a great vantage spot to see the town and surroundings, including our hotel with its large illuminated cross on its tower. Breakfast was in the light and airy dining room - pretty standard
