The Farmhouse Lodge on the south coast of Iceland. Whether enjoying a day journey to us taking in the highlights of Icelandic nature on your way to elsewhere or spending your holiday experiencing the south coast the Farmhouse Lodge is conveniently located only 170 km from Reykjavik. This is a family run enterprise in a renovated old farmhouse on Skeidflot. We are 10 minutes away from Vik i Myrdal, where there are found Restaurants and more service. Popular sites to see in the surrounding are is Skogarfoss waterfall, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Solheimajokull glacier and Dyrholay island.
Incredibly comfortable, rural getaway on the coast. The location is beautiful, quiet, and at the base of a glacier. Only a 6 - 10 minute drive to Vik (downtown) for restaurants, breweries and shopping. Excellent service, so comfortable, and delicious breakfast option. Common space was clean and convenient to use for cooking and having a space to hang outside the room.

The owners have obviously put a lot of effort into making the lodge special, including a nice sitting area with tea and coffee. However, we paid more for this lodge than anywhere else during our entire Iceland vacation and I can't say I see the value. Breakfast was not included (as it was in some other places), was not anything exceptional, and occurred in a very small crowded space. The room was comfortable, but tight, and our shower wasn't working properly. Overall, my impression was that this is a nice lodge in a nice location, but not worth the amount charged.

What an adorable place! I would definitely come back here to stay, We stayed in the Cowhouse, and the room was very cozy. The shower was the best we had on our whole trip. And the breakfast was delicious. The view from the breakfast room was spectacular. And on top of it all, the people running the place were incredibly kind.

We booked this hotel through Expedia and are very pleased with our stay there. We had booked a Double Room with Private Bathroom and our room was situated on the lower ground floor below the Reception, with a huge window and door leading out to the open fields. The room was modern and clean, and it was also very well heated (the floor was heated as well!). The small window can be opened a little for better ventilation (we found out this is the way they do it in Iceland) without compromising the heat generated for the room. Although there were other guests on the same floor, it was very quiet and we had our best sleep after a very tiring day. The accommodation has a prudent shoes-off policy, where you leave your muddy shoes at the indoor entrance, before walking through the corridor to your room. We had our bedroom slippers for this purpose. Breakfast was sufficient and varied, with an assortment of bread/jam/eggs/fruits and wonderful coffee and tea. They also have a huge communal fully-equipped kitchen in a separate building across from the Reception, with free flow of coffee and tea. Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay there, and can highly recommend this delightful place to others.…

Was very pleasantly surprised by this place. The stay was reasonably priced, the rooms were spacious and modern and the bathroom was huge. The only thing I can complain about is that there was no ventilation, so it quickly became humid and bad air unless you opened the window. (Which I prefer not to do when it's minus degrees). Beyond this, everything was absolutely great. The breakfast was small and cozy, and contained the essentials as well as waffles which were yummy. The staff was also very nice.

A nice lodge with very friendly staff! Rooms are very spacious and modern. Buffet area features coffee | tea available at all times, and seating areas with nice views. The breakfast buffet itself was very nice, with phenomenal croissants to boot! Laundry services are offered, but are not typically available until the late afternoon/evening. Vík is 15 minutes away, with the popular Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara beaches within close proximity as as well.

We initially booked one of the glamping tents. We do a lot of camping in Colorado and thought this would be fun in Iceland. The glamping didn't work out so well. We arrived about 5PM after a great day of sightseeing. We checked in and were told where to find our tent. It was across a field. No big deal. But when we got to the tent we found water on the floor inside the test. The canvas tent was very faded and had black splotches that looked like mold. The sheets looked really old. So old that it was hard to tell if they had been washed. It had been damp the day we arrived and the sheets also felt a bit damp. We went back to the check-in desk and politely (my wife is the mistress of politeness!) informed the receptionist of our concerns. She said she'd go check. We headed off to dinner in Vik and while there got a text telling us we had the option of a room in one of the lodges. When we returned we checked the room out and immediately decided to move. This room was in a newly renovated addition and it was very swanky: new bed linens; new everything.... It was very quiet and comfortable. Others have mentioned a shared bathroom--this room has its own big, new, clean bathroom. So what could have been a very uncomfortable night turned out to be just fabulous. We had not regrets about giving up the glamping! The buffet breakfast was just fine. Parking is onsite; wifi is free and fast. I gave this an average rating to factor in the bad glamping and the excellent room we eventually got.…

We really enjoyed a day in there. Breakfast was great with freshly baked bread and buns, there was NO shortage of hot water like in the hotel nearby and our room was really clean. If you care about making food yourself, there is also fully equipped kitchen to common use. 10/10, wish we could stay longer.

This place was so grim. It was nothing like the pictures. The beds were dirty and it was very noisy and cold. The breakfast was horrible. The pastries were mouldy and the coffee was stale. I would never stay here again. This was the worst place I have ever stayed. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
