Located at the beginning of the town is this quiet guesthouse, where we were able to rest very well thanks to its comfortable facilities. The room was very spacious, clean and with a comfortable space to work on the laptop for a while. The shared bathroom was very clean, I liked that a lot. It also has a shared kitchen and a large living room with large windows overlooking the town where you can relax for a while playing board games. The place offers breakfast for a separate cost that you have to book. It was a good idea to rest here to continue our trip along the Ring Road, I recommend it.
Comfortable for a one night stay with a good room view but the walls were quite thin and you could hear people upstairs/in common areas most of the time. Using the bathrooms was also difficult at times due to lots of people trying to use them at once.
Guesthouse Carina is an immaculately clean property on a hill, with mountain views on all sides, and a sumptuous breakfast (additional cost) in a glass walled dining area. BUT it is not suitable for seniors or the disabled. There is a flight of stone steps without a handrail to enter the building. Once inside you remove your shoes in the entry hall and wear slippers. The communal kitchen and the ONLY shower are on the "first floor" entry level. Most of the rooms were up another rather steep flight of stairs, meaning we must carry our suitcases up 2 flights and go down one flight to shower. (There were plenty of shared toilets but no sink in the room.) We made it through with the kind help of staff and fellow guests. But as seniors we would not come again.
A group of five of us share one family room for one night and were very comfortable. Room had one full bed in one area and another full bed and twin in other area that could be made more private by set of sliding wooden doors. The breakfast area was in a room with black glass walls which was kind of funky but the breakfast options were great. All in all a nice stay for a night.
Friendly staff to meet and greet on our arrival. Immediately we saw that the guesthouse is modern and clean. Excellent. The family room was spacious and clean. Excellent for the second time. We didn't book the breakfast upfront, but however we went for it. No problem for the staff. And it was good : tasty, choice, dining room. A third excellent.
Guesthouse Carina was the perfect place for us to land after a long trip from Denver, CO. The drive from the airport was amazing - so many things to see along the road to Vik. The guesthouse location is beautiful with a magical restaurant in a black glass patio facing the ocean and the mountains. Our couple room was spacious and parking was free. We will recommend to all our friends visiting Iceland!
We loved Guesthouse Carina. The room was spotless and somewhat spacious for three of us. The shared bath was fine as there was no one else in the downstairs portion so we had it to ourselves. They provide shoe covers so as not to track in mud etc. We would have loved to stay additional day but had to move on. We did not eat at their breakfast.
Such a cute guest house!! Room was simple but had everything needed. Shared bathroom and showers but they were updated and very clean. Small kitchen if needed. The dining room is a new addition to the house and is very nice as well - amazing view of the city. There is a great breakfast that is available for a fee. Definitely enjoyed our stay. Also walked to a soup restaurant a few minutes away for dinner and it was fantastic! Definitely recommend Guesthouse Carina!
This is a perfect location in Vik. Staff is very friendly. The breakfast was amazing. They had so much to choose from. We were able to enjoy our breakfast with a view looking out at the town. The only thing I didn’t like was sharing a bathroom, but it worked out okay. I thought when I booked our room we had a private bathroom, but it meant we shared it with one other room. So that was probably my fault. The room was cozy for two people. Overall, great night stay!
We loved our stay in guest house Carina. The host is very lovely and helpful. Also this place is super central with very fast access to the main southern iceland landscapes. The breakfast is also super good. They have their own fresh bread ! Amazing. Will come back for sure
