Volcano Hotel is a very nice country hotel in the area of Mýrdalur valley, by the southern most tip of Iceland. We have only 7 spacious and beautiful rooms at the hotel, the rooms are decorated in Scandinavian style, with hard wood floors and light interiors. All our rooms have private bathroom with shower, shampoo, soaps and a hairdryer. There is a nice lounge/dining room with a bar at Volcano Hotel and dinner is available for our guests, if it is booked in advance - latest the morning of your arrival. We take price in offering a personal service and know the importance of meeting a local, so do chat with us and ask us about anything in Iceland - we're happy to help.

We went with Jóhann on a Jeep excursion to the Katla caves - he was kind enough to take us last minute and with our young son. We went hiking over a glacier and in through the caves - it was an incredible experience. Jóhann was very knowledgeable and kade the trip so interesting - it was wonderful. Recommend to anyone thinking of doing a trip like this!

We only stayed here for one night. It’s outside of vik and near the black beach side that is not so crowded and only 10 mins up the street. We stopped at a grocery in vik prior to getting here cause we knew it was 15-20 away to the nearest restaurant. We grabbed something and made a smoked salmon over a simple arugula salad and ate in the breakfast room with a nice Chardonnay. The staff was very helpful and kind. Rooms were clean, comfortable and breakfast very nice.

We stayed one night and had a good stay. The room was very spacious and the bed was one of the most comfortable we slept in during our travels in Iceland. A breakfast buffet was included and there was plenty of food to choose from. My only recommendation to the hotel would be to get some screens for the windows as the bugs are attracted to the lights in the room at night and they fly in through the windows we left open to get some air circulation.

You’re in the middle of nowhere here. This hotel is good. Clean, friendly staff. Breakfast was good, too. I could literally count sheep at night. They were outside the back of the building and seen from our room. Bring snacks for the room.

This hotel was a great start to our Iceland vacation. Two detours made us two hours late arriving and the innkeeper was super kind and helpful. He helped us find the SOUP COMPANY for a late night dinner. Our room was at the end of the hall, room 6, and was quiet leading to a great night sleep. Breakfast was excellent, hot scrambled eggs and plenty for any diet.
