Volcano Hotel is a very nice country hotel in the area of Mýrdalur valley, by the southern most tip of Iceland. We have only 7 spacious and beautiful rooms at the hotel, the rooms are decorated in Scandinavian style, with hard wood floors and light interiors. All our rooms have private bathroom with shower, shampoo, soaps and a hairdryer. There is a nice lounge/dining room with a bar at Volcano Hotel and dinner is available for our guests, if it is booked in advance - latest the morning of your arrival. We take price in offering a personal service and know the importance of meeting a local, so do chat with us and ask us about anything in Iceland - we're happy to help.

We had a twin room that faced the back hill. The room was small, but clean. The bed fine. The bathroom functional. The curtains weren't blackout, so some light at night. Space heater. Breakfast was fine with waffles. The coffeemaker had to be emptied of grounds and it would self clean after just a few cups. Guests used the breakfast room throughout the evening for eating and visiting. Quiet location with sheep in neighboring fields. We thought it provided the best value among the hotels we stayed in around Iceland.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They even dried a bunch of our clothes after we got soaked on a glacier hike. The included breakfast was small, but everything was fresh and good. The rooms are a good size and the prices were very reasonable.

Adorable boutique hotel/bed and breakfast in a great location within 15 minutes of the black sand beach and skogafoss. Cozy and comfortable lounge to enjoy reading and a cup of free tea coffee or espresso or cappuccino at night. Rooms were coming comfortable clean and sun lit. My daughter and I would definitely stay there again.

Of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip to Iceland this one was my favorite. The room was great and so is the common area. There was a nice selection for breakfast and the staff is wonderful. It was quite in our room and we did not hear other guests. The blackout curtains are great also. I can’t wait to go back.

This hotel was fantastic. The room was spacious for all of our big winter gear. We truly enjoyed the peaceful breakfast room, where staff made us eggs to our liking! It was so personalized. The coffee machine also made a delicious latte. We had only planned on staying at the Volcano Hotel for a short time. Our trip took us from Vik to Hofn, just to have our glacier trip cancelled. We were scrambling to travel back to Vik due to the weather, and the Volcano Hotel luckily had a room for our last minute so we could stay there twice during our trip. We truly appreciated how flexible and accommodating this hotel was. The family and staff who run this hotel truly deserve great customer service.
