Volcano Hotel is a very nice country hotel in the area of Mýrdalur valley, by the southern most tip of Iceland. We have 7 spacious and beautiful rooms at the hotel, the rooms are decorated in Scandinavian style, with hardwood floors and light interiors. All our rooms have a private bathroom with a shower, shampoo, soaps, and a hairdryer. There is a nice lounge/dining room with a bar at Volcano Hotel and dinner is available for our guests, if it is booked in advance - latest the morning of your arrival. We take pride in offering a personal service and know the importance of meeting a local, so do chat with us and ask us about anything in Iceland - we're happy to help. We look forward to welcoming you!

Clean, modern building with classic Scandinavian decor. The location is nice with a long driveway to the hotel. Rooms are a good size with wood floors, a king bed, TV, and desk. The bathroom is large and has a nice shower. Coffee and tea are available in the break room. Breakfast was very nice. You order your eggs as you would like them prepared. A buffet offers cold cuts, cheeses, bread, muesli, and skyr. Coffee, tea and apple juice are provided.

Nice wee no frills hotel, just 10 minutes from Vik. Our room was clean and spacious, with decent Wi-Fi and Netflix. The views from the hotel are lovely, one of the highlights was watching the horses run together in the fields below. Need to definitely book if you want to eat in the restaurant…we somehow missed that memo but the host was kind enough to make a lamb dish for my starving partner which he said was delicious.

Small, family run hotel on the outskirts of Vik. Excellent location for touring the area. Lovely, clean, boutique hotel with free parking and exceptional dining. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Hotel is basic and don’t consider it as nice as various guesthouses we stayed at throughout Iceland, but it has what you need. Took a while for heat to really kick in and felt like other things were at times going to break in actuality everything worked fine. Size was a plus as it’s a bit larger than most rooms we’ve seen in Iceland, and I appreciated the effort of the person working there especially during breakfast as he had to take care of everything himself. Random point, but I do wish they had a floor mat that could clean your boots of sand (not just snow as the main mat seemed to be for), especially as I assume we’re one of many who had just visited the black sand beach. We took our shoes off when entering our room but it still got quite messy with sand in that part of the room.

Spacious comfortable room, stylish and modern. Nice selection of meats, fruits, breads/croissants for breakfast and eggs are made to order. Common lounging and dining area has coffee/tea available. Staff were friendly and helpful. We decided to stay in for dinner and they were kind to accommodate. Small but impactful menu. The lamb and fish dishes were amazing. The chocolate cake rich and decadent. Location of hotel is about 10 minutes outside of Vik, close to points of interest such as black sand beach etc. Would also be a great location to see northern lights on a clear night.

Great accommodation on the outskirts of Vik. Just a short drive into the town itself but close to sites such as the black beach etc. Friendly staff, comfortable accommodation, great breakfast. Would definitely return there if i have the opportunity.

The place is clean and looks nice, The hard floors make it very noisy when people are in the hall way. Thin walls. Foo was fine and owner was very pleasant. Could feel the springs in the bed. The shower was very tight. Good location for getting to things around Vik.

Very modern and stylish hotel some 20 kilometres from Vik, which I was not aware of (my fault!). Spacious rooms with modern facilities. Good breakfast. The friendly receptionist/ manager of the hotel made us feel very welcome.

On an Iceland road trip. This place is a bit far out of town an no tea TV to spread of but that said it’s was very good here. Breakfast is better than most. Rooms are nice sized and beds are very comfortable. Decent jumping off spot to see surrounding sights but not a destination into itself. Very good for our needs.
