Family run farm guesthouse ideally situated in South-Iceland, about 160 KM east of Reykjavik, and 22 KM west of the village Vík. Nearby you find famous glaciers, waterfalls, bird cliffs and other great nature sites of Iceland as well as folk museums and exciting activities (glacier excursions, horse back riding ...).
Can't say enough good things about our stay! First, let me start with the best part - Einar. He was an absolutely amazing host and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. He welcomed us every day when we returned to the BnB, and was always thinking of ways to help us. He was so generous on my husband's birthday and never hesitated to share fun ideas on some of the rest days we planned. Now on to the next best part, the property. Photos do not do justice to how lovely the house is. It's 1.5km off the main highway which makes it so quiet and peaceful. Yet, the views are incredible. You can sit on the porch or look out of your window to huge fields, mountains and the ocean. Sheep and horses are roaming around freely which adds so much personality. Last but not least, the shared bathroom was always spotless and very rarely did we have to wait to use it. Lastly, the location. The property is ~15 mins from Vik which has lots of cute restaurants and bars. We drove there every night and it was super convenient. It was actually nice to drive a little outside of town to enjoy the amazing sights of Iceland. The black sand beach and other cool spots are also very close. Overall, we spent 4 nights here and it didn't feel like enough. It would be a real travesty to only do a night here. It got better every day as you started relaxing into the house and truly appreciating Einar's hospitality. This was one of our favorite stays ever, and can't wait to be back!

When we arrived in Eystri Sólheimar we were welcomed by Sigrún (the owner) in fluent German, which was great.
She showed us the room which was spotless clean, there wasn't even some dust in the room, which we couldn't believe. The room was modern and basic, with a nice bed and sink. All you need! The best was that we could choose the room as we were the only people in the guesthouse at the time. This is what we call great service!
There was a spare kitchen for the guests in the basement, which was spotless clean as well and all you needed for a nice dinner was provided.
The bathroom was big, quiet modern and again! SPOTLESS clean!
There was free WiFi available in the guesthouse, we just had to ask for the password. Again, great service! There is no TV in the house but if you have your own laptop you can use it as a TV thanks to the free WiFi.
Breakfast was pleanty and very tasty. Sigrún also baked fresh bread rolls each morning and they were just delicious! We even asked for the recipe which she gave us.
We also were given great information about the things to see and do in the area which was great. Sigrún also gave us some "insider knowledge" as she told us where to go for a swim in a hidden pool surrounded by the mountains. Unfortunately, the pool was closed as it was still full of ash from last years vulcanic eruption! But this may change in the following months.
You can easily spent your whole vacation in this guesthouse as you feel very welcomed and just like home!
We can highly recommend this guesthouse to everybody!

This little house perched at the foot of a mountain feels like home. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The house is spotless too. It's a nice change from staying in the towns and offers a close location to all the things to do on the south part of Iceland. I know that if we come back to the south part we will be staying here for sure. Also the sunsets at night are perfect here. The kitchen down stairs is perfect for cooking dinner for your party.
Can't say enough about how perfect this place is.

i stayed one night with my two young adult children in a comfortable room on the upper floor looking out over fields of grazing sheep and Icelandic horses. Entire house is nicely appointed in modern Nordic fashion. There is a convenient kitchen and eating area on the bottom floor, and an excellent breakfast is served on the main floor. My only regret is only having a single night to stay here.

One of the best welcome for us in Iceland. If you look for a warm welcome and a very clean guesthouse, we recommended this place. The breakfast is entire with an amazing ladnscapes if you have a good weather. Also, you can cook in a independent kitchen. Just near to Vik (about 10 min), you have everything to have a beautiful and calm journey.

We stayed in the basement, (sleepingbagaccomodation). The rooms were spacious and clean. Sharing the use of the bathroom was not a problem on any day. The kitchen is provided with basic utilities. On the last evening we had a dinner prepared by the host, main course and dessert. It was a really good home cooked meal. We stayed for four nights and we really liked it.

We arrived late (23h) and were still greated with a warm welcome and explications on what to do the next day. We went to see te puffins and came late (again) for breakfast and our host kept it for us until we came back. The rhubarb marmelade is just fantastic :) on self baked rolls.. Hmmm.
Rooms are basic but clean and nice (no opaque curtains though), small bathroom. Do!

We lived in a Pleasant room with an amazing view. Very quiet surroundings, friendly owner and Nice beds. The only bad thing is, that we stayed here one of our first nights, and we couldn’t help but comparing every other Guesthouse with this, and nothing were as Good as this.

Our family had 2 nights at Sigrun's family farmhouse. We were on the bottom floor in a quad room (4 single beds) which was sleeping bag accommodation. There was no one else staying in either of the other 2 bottom rooms, so we had the run of the kitchen which we used for breakfasts and dinners, as well as lunch assembly. (We didn';t eat out much in Iceland as it is very expensive for Canadians) There is wifi but no TV, which was ok as we were out most of the day.
The property is on hundreds of acres of beautiful farmland with lots of sheep and horses grazing- some of the horses came to greet our car when we arrived! One of the highlights of our trip to Iceland, was actually the family walk we took on the property after dinner. We walked out towards the small river that flows through the farmers field and hiked to 2 private waterfalls..it was like a magical green oasis, hidden from the world, so beautiful and the kids enjoyed hopping over the streams and climbing up the hills. Sigrun was very nice and organized a horse back riding excursion for my daughter, in nearby Skogar, which she really enjoyed. We spent one day driving out to Jokarsarlon - took a couple hours each way, so be prepared for a long day - but seeing the glaciars floating in the ocean was quite amazing!

We booked this guesthouse through a third party (Hey Iceland) and it was unclear that our quad was a "sleeping bag accommodation." Tried to get clarification when we saw this term on our receipt , but we did not receive an answer back through email, neither from third party nor owner. When we arrived, the owner expected us to be backpacking and had a small room with 4 beds and no linens available for us in the downstairs. This was very tight for us and our 2 older teens, but she was very apologetic and rented linens to us for half the price of usual cost (1000 kr for 4 sets). We did not know we had the option to order breakfast ahead of time, so if you'd like to do that, it is an option that is not made clear through third party. The house is well located for the attractions near Vik, and my husband went on a lovely hike up the mountain behind the house, which is easy to access for an off the beaten path stroll into the countryside. There is a simple kitchen and shared bathroom (share with a double room) available for those in sleeping bag accommodation rooms. Very clean, as are all accommodations we have experienced in Iceland.

Dear Dorian P. Thank you for writing this review, it gives me the opportunity to make a few things clear. I called Hey Iceland yesterday, and they could not find any email from you, where you tried to change the booking. I didn't get an email or a phone call from you either. I could not have changed your booking, but I could easily have called Hey Iceland and asked them to change it. Breakfast is usually not included if you book the sleeping bag accommodation. Guests there can buy it in the guesthouse and it is not necessary to book it in advance. I´m sorry that I didn't tell you that, when you were here. I´m glad that your husband could enjoy the good weather and the hike in the mountain behind the house on the morning when you were here. I hope that you all had a pleasant and enjoyable vacation in Iceland. Best regards, Sigrun T

Hello, my guesthouse is almost fully booked on August 19 and 20. I only have one double room available where I have my sleeping bag accommodation. The room is basic, but it is comfortable with good beds. The price is ISK 9.000 for the room per night if you have sleeping bags. If you need duvets, linen and towels, you pay ISK 1.000 extra. Breakfast is not included, but there is a kitchen where you can make your own breakfast. You can also buy breakfast from me for ISK 1.500 per person. I would be pleased to reserve the room for you if you like. Best regards, Sigrun
