Our hostess was delightful and responsive by phone. The rate was reasonable (16000 isk) for Vik area (tho breakfast was too pricey). The lodging was comfortable and quiet as we were the ONLY guests Sunday night. Bathroom had odd toilet paper dispenser that had us using bathroom near front desk when T.P. ran out😞

Beautiful surroundings, peaceful stay, normal pricing, good times. If I were a child, this place would be my mother's lap. For the first time in 24 years, I felt at home. Thank you. Forgot to order breakfast which totally sucked 'cause I was hella hungry.

I stayed here in June 2020 with my dog. It was a pleasure to stay here and meet the owner. She is one of the jewels of Iceland and a great representative of Icelandic people. The guest house is really clean, the bedroom is comfortable as it had everything I needed for my stay. There is a garden for the dog to run around in, nice views between dyrholaey, the glaciers and the sea. I highly recommend guesthouse vellir as your base for your South Coast trip.

This was our worst accommodation in Iceland. It had been raining, we were wet. We had to take off our shoes to enter the check in area and in our cabin. That would be okay and reasonable if other standards of care had been followed. The door to the cabin opens towards the parking space, meaning you have to walk around the door to get in, in the rain. The door doesn't close completely there was a gap at the top. We have to take off our shoes, but there is a gap in the door. THE DOOR DID NOT LOCK! Who stays somewhere where the door doesn't lock?? There was a leak in the common area of our 3 bedroom unit. The shower door is broken, water everywhere. We had less than 1 roll of toilet paper, we ran out in the middle of the night. 5 adults, less than one roll, with no spare roll. It's okay to give your guests an extra roll of TP. You charge enough money! don't run out of toilet paper and fix the doors! Also, the doors are 1/2 clear with a slight cloud cover on them. So if someone in your group stays up all night, there was no way to block the light. Get a curtain! And the rooms were so TINY. We had to climb over our luggage to get into the bed, which was surrounded by three walls. Several of the heating units in the cabin didn't work. We blew a fuse at night. One of our guys figured out how to reset it, but he was not comfortable with the power set up, next to the door with the gap and the rain coming in. I would not stay here again. I would certainly avoid the 3 bedroom cabin.

Icy welcome from the host who aim only at making profit. We got a confirmation that they will provide us with a baby cot. We knew only when we arrived the baby cot was used in another room. We haven't heard or seen another baby during our stay. The host told us that it was not normal to let our baby sleeps in her own bed, she had to sleep with her mother! If you need advice on maternity, it seems they are expert!!! After asking for a mattress, we finally got one only after dinner. It was not with a great pleasure from the host. The night is very very very expensive. The dinner was good, the lamb a bit too cooked. The breakfast is not really good, few choice and the Chef is looking at all you take. We felt like kids, trying to not make a mistake I think they are only looking for money, I don't recommand at all
