I booked this hotel for a once in a lifetime trip with my wife and 7 year old. Hotel was booked via Expedia as was a second hotel in Iceland... Kria charged us the full amount as they had different cancellation policies from the other hotel... We had to cancel due to exceptional circumstances and despite discussing with the hotel they firmly declined to budge from a 800 euro fee... Yes, their terms were correct albeit totally unreasonable, but the hotel should be avoided at all costs...

We loved our stay at the Hotel Kria... The value, particularly for Iceland, was excellent... What stood out to me most was the warmth of the staff, and the environment... Staff at reception were all just excellent - really first-class... They were patient, helpful and ready to answer our many questions about road closures and the storm... The beds are excellent, with good linens... The breakfast selection was good and well cooked - particularly the breads and the bacon... The coffee was great and the hotel was very thoughtful in providing a large flask of coffee on the day of the storm when many people were in the hotel... A great part of our holiday and would fully recommend the Kria for its warmth, hospitality, good and value...

We had a very relaxing stay at Kria; clean, newer, modern and well though out. Our room had a Mountain View and was quite, even during stormy weather... Breakfast was exceptional and location perfect for exploring the south coast, for a reasonable rate...

...After lots of walking I was very very happy to see the huge, modern bathtub complete with essential oil infused bath salts. A lovely touch was the mini, complimentary wines and chocolates... The bed was nice and firm and the first bed in Iceland not to give me back pain... The staff were really lovely and helpful, we had a drink in the bar and breakfast was great too with stunning views over the mountainside...

We loved our stay at the Hotel Kria. It's an excellent property and exceeded my expectations... What stood out to me most was the warmth of the staff, and the environment... It felt easy to settle in and relax... Staff at reception were all just excellent - really first-class... The lounge area is really comfortable, atmospherically lit and with comfy chairs... Bedrooms are definitely simpler in their design, but they are very comfortable and practical... The beds are excellent, with good linens... The breakfast selection was good and well cooked - particularly the breads and the bacon... The coffee was great and the hotel was very thoughtful in providing a large flask of coffee on the day of the storm when many people were in the hotel... I would definitely go for the Mountain View... The hotel is light on amenities, but there is a good games room and really you want to be out and about... A great part of our holiday and would fully recommend the Kria for its warmth, hospitality, good and value...

...We stayed here for one night during our one week road trip around the Ring Road and we enjoyed our stay. Positives: Easy to get to and in a good location to fuel up, stock up on food and there were also a couple of restaurants around to grab some dinner... Room had a good view of the mountains/hills behind the hotel... Breakfast was good, plentiful and again great views of the scenery outside... The hotel overall was quite stylish and cosy...

Was slightly worried about this hotel as changed booking late to cut down travel on last day, but it was very comfortable and offered the same high standards of Icelandic welcome & high quality of food. Nice bar area & good food... Slightly less extras than other more pricey hotels, but first rate for value money & in good location for Black Beach (Reynisfjara) with basalt columns, stacks and Dyrholaey Arch...

...Staff were extremely friendly and really appreciated the opportunity to be woken for Northern Lights. We were upgraded for free to a Mountain View room!... Hotel itself gave very sophisticated vibes, nice lighting and music... Perfect place to settle after a long cold day... The bar has a cosy little seating area with a happy hour 4 -7 PM with some nice beer... Breakfast was included and was great - a large selection and even cod liver oil shots as you please... Room was extremely clean and comfortable... TV has access to all streaming services too which was great...

Hotel Kria calls themself a 3-star hotel, but the experience and service was absolutely 5 star... The room (suite) was extremely well appointed and thoughtful... We managed to get laundry done overnight and shoes dried, making a huge difference to our level of comfort...

Hotel is in a great location, modern, clean, quiet and well equipped. Breakfast was great and the Scottish receptionist (sorry didn’t catch her name) was incredibly helpful, friendly and kind... A mini-fridge would be useful and perhaps the hotel is slightly overpriced...

This was among my favorite places we stayed on our Iceland trip. Rooms were very comfortable and modern with beautiful bathrooms... Also very much enjoyed the small outdoor area and sliding glass door for the lovely views... Upon checking in we were told about the northern lights wake up call the hotel offered if they were visible which was really cool... And this is all just a short drive away from the beach...

We stayed here for two nights on a recent trip of Iceland and found Vik to be an excellent base. Hotel Kria looks amazing, the decor is beautiful both indoors and outdoors... It’s well situated, walking distance from the beach and a few good bars and restaurants... There was a good size car park and we never struggled to find parking... Our room was a good size, had everything we could have wanted or needed... The storage space was well designed for cold winter gear!... There was a games room upstairs which was great it had table tennis etc which was fun!... The staff were also great, they offer a northern lights wake up service but we did not see them whilst in Vik...

Nice hotel property in beautiful little Vik. A very welcoming and pleasant staff greeted us... The room was reasonably priced, comfortable and just right for our one night in town... The restaurant is situated so diners have a nice Mountain and church view, plus the food was very good... Breakfast buffet was way above average and included in the price...

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Kria for 2 nights. I picked this hotel based on its good reviews and close proximity to the Black Sand Beach and Skool Beans. I would be hesitant to believe if someone said there was a better hotel in Vik because our stay was truly great. The breakfast offered a wide range of foods catering to different nationalities. I had my first taste of Skyr and oh-my-gosh…it was amazing. It was in a central location within Vik and our room had a view of the mountain that was behind the hotel. The staff was lovely and the bartenders were knowledgeable and accommodating. I will definitely recommend staying here to friends traveling to Iceland.

I would rate this hotel a 0. I have never met a more disgusting and non compassionate management than this hotel. I called more than 48 hours in advance to say we have extenuating circumstances with both our children being sick with RSV and asthma and a physicians note indicating we cannot travel and need to care for our children. I heard staff laughing in the background as I spoke with the front desk. They did not care one bit and would not refund a penny or offer any credit. I would never recommend staying at this hotel. They are heartless.

Nice hotel, clean, with friendly staff. Good breakfast with many options in a lovely dining room. Dinner in the restaurant also recommended (there are not many options in the area). Be aware that about half of the rooms at the back of the hotel face a large campground. With no A/C and the windows open, you hear people late into the night and early in the morning, and smell their BBQ's and fires. The other side of the hotel faces the road. Tip: in the summer, ask for a room in the back but on the side away from the campground.

A wonderful hotel in the city of Vik, close proximity to Black Sand Beach, two big waterfalls and only 2.5 hours away from Diamond beach. Multiple good restaurants and gas stations are available within minutes of the hotel. The hotel has free parking. There’s a restaurant inside including bar. A game room with ping pong and pool tables. There’s free breakfast as well with lots of good options. We had an easy and quick check in. The room was elegant and clean. Bathroom with standing shower. At night, it’s pitch dark outside, perfect for watching Northern lights if it’s dancing over the sky. The hotel provides wake up call for Northern lights if you opt in. We had an amazing one night stay here and check out was a breeze.

Beautiful hotel with a tasty restaurant and attentive service. I wish we had more time there. Convenient location and a small but comfortable room. We arrived there a bit later than seven and the front desk lady was really nice to help us reserve a table for dinner at their restaurant. Typically icelandic dish. Delicious and well-presented. The house wine is excellent. The breakfast has a great selection, best breakfast we had in iceland.

By far the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Iceland. The hotel was very beautiful and modern. The room was spacious and had a wonderful view. We did not eat dinner at the hotel restaurant but we only heard great things. The breakfast was included and they had a bunch of options. Staff replenished frequently. The hotel is walking distance to the small town which had several options for restaurants.

The Kria is located on the main street of Vik. While it is not loud, it is also not in the middle of nowhere as the photo on the website suggests. This said, it is perfectly located for visitors interested in seeing some gorgeous scenery. The accommodations are clean and nice for travelers. We stayed one night and it was fine. The restaurant is really good! We had a great dinner there - Arctic char dish and a lamb dish. Both were excellent.

Rooms were clean. Decor was updated but basic modern. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and the menu is small and food was just ok. Breakfast buffet was also just ok, basic assortment. Bar in the lobby is small but cozy. We stayed only one night.

We visited Hotel Kria in Vik in late September 23. Vik is a pretty remote location with a small town and the attraction of a black sand beach - swimming is very dangerous! The hotel is pretty expensive, but from what I saw it is certainly the best in the area. Very modern in design, understated but stylish. The staff were very helpful and the room lovely. I would highly recommend eating in the Hotel restaurant. Great service and excellent food. Whilst there are other alternatives for food in Vik, many of them shut quite early, so be careful if you generally like to eat late. You could go hungry. I would highly recommend Hotel Kria. Also a good base to visit the many fascinating sites in the area. Enjoy your stay.
