(+) Room was spacious enough and well lit with views on the mountains on two sides. Staff were very helpful providing tips and recommendations. Location is ideal for those planning to venture into nature or explore the many wonderful attractions and locations around Vík and south Iceland. Breakfast was quite decent. (-)There weren’t many measures in place for COVID especially in the breakfast area where gloves and sanitisers were provided but nobody was using them and staff didn’t enforce these measures including keeping distance. The rooms are very basic which is OK for a night or two but for extended stays you might not feel all that comfortable. No lockers, safe or wardrobes in the room makes unpacking quite impractical.

The website was very captivating but the hotel was nothing special. Small rooms and the mountain view overlooks a shabby camping. Restaurant was closed with no notice and at reception they indicated other restaurants that were either closed or fully booked. We ended up with no dinner. Quite disappointing and certainly the worst accommodation in our trip in Iceland!

Dear Guest, First of all we want to thank you for your feedback. We´re sorry to hear that your experience with us was not as good as expected. At Hotel Kria, we aim to serve every guest with care and professionalism. We want you to be aware that the recent sudden in-house restaurant closure was caused by the direct results of the new COVID-19 restrictions in the country. We are sorry to learn that you also haven´t received any communication about that - we have certainly sent out messages to all our guests with 1-2 day notice. We´ll be more than happy to look into any communication issues that caused this inconveniece. Although we pride ourselves on the mountain view that most of our guests love, we appreciate that the presence of the nearby campsite remaining empty throughout almost the whole year might not be what you expected. Also in our offer we have few room types of various size, and we´re convinced some of them would be suitable for your needs. Our priority is now to restore your faith in our hotel, therefore we would love to assist you in finding the ideal room for your next stay, if you may give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves. We very much hope to have another chance to provide you with the quality experience we are truly capable of sharing with our guests. Should you plan your next visit in Iceland, do not hesitate to reach out to us directly: hotelkria@hotelkria.is Have a wonderful rest of the stay in Iceland!

Very nice, modern hotel. The hotel it self was really nice, clean and all staff were very friendly. The room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. The only thing I can complain about was the cocktail bar. My wife and I went for a cocktails. She ordered Expresso Martini and I ordered Whiskey Sour, but asked for rum instead of whiskey. I was charged an extra 500 ISK more, because it used cheap rum, but not whiskey. My wife did not like the Expressó Martini. The reason, the hotel does not use Kahlua for the cocktail, but some kind of liqueur mix. Hótel Kría should get easy 5 stars, but the cocktail bar spoils one star.

We spent a night in Hotel Kria during our trip to Iceland. The hotel is conveniently located by Vik's main road and looks very modern and pleasant. The service was attentive and faultless, the room was beautiful and well-stocked with a very comfortable bed (as it seems to be the rule in all the accommodations we have been in Iceland). I would like to highlight the amazing breakfast (the best we had in any accommodation in Iceland). If I had to point at something that could be improved, that would be the temperature of the room. It was too hot which I imagine is a good thing during the winter months but we had a bit of a hard time trying to sleep because of that. Overall a great experience, would repeat again!
