We stayed here for one night during our road trip around Iceland. To get to Seydisfjordur you have to drive through, a pretty scary, road. A climb up a mountain and then a descent into the village. Once we arrived in one piece we saw why people choose to stay in Seydisfjordur. A very charming place. We stayed in the...

We stayed here for a night in July. We arrived having picked up a piece of gravel in our wheel discs - the husband of the hostel owner showed us how to jack up and remove the gravel, saving us loads of time and possibly money - thank you! The hostel itself is blessed by being in a beautiful building...

We stayed at Hafaldan Harbour Building in late September and we loved it! The Host is so sweet and kind. The place is very cosy and you feel immediately at home. The furniture ist very nice and so are the showers and rooms! I can not recommend it enough, seydisfjordur is definitely worth the trip!

We stayed in a room with a private bathroom, everything was so very well maintained. The Hostel had a fully equipped common kitchen and lovely area for enjoying your meal and visiting with travellers from it seemed all over the world.

The drive to seydisfjordur was a long ride but when we reach there, the view was breathtaking! The hostel is at the opposite side of the town. We can view the town and the mountains from another angle. If you happen to drive by do stop over this town too!

We stayed here for one night on our tour around Iceland, and honestly this hostel is worth it just for the drive into town. You'll never see anything like it. The hostel itself is quite older, but has an amazing feel to it. Our room was a 6 bed dorm and was very comfortable. The kitchen is an absolute dream...

The location is excellent, walkable to every part of Seyðisfjörður. The 2-person private rooms were large and comfortable, and even though we were near the kitchen there was very little noise. Our only complaint was the showers, which are not closed and so make the entire bathroom wet - this is difficult if more than one person wants to have...

We stayed at this hostel on one of the days of our 8 day trip around Iceland. The hostel is well decorated and the dorm rooms were cozy. We slept like a log. You can bring ur own sleeping bags or borrow their duvets for a fee. The kitchen was absolutely my favorite. It was so big to accommodate many...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Seyðisfjörður Hostel Hafaldan in Seydisfjordur, east Iceland, guarantees you a warm welcome in one of our two distinctive and atmospheric wooden buildings; Hafaldan Harbour Hostel and Hafaldan Hospital Hostel. Hafaldan Harbour Hostel was established in 1975 and nestles on the north side of the Seyðisfjörður fjord, just by the harbour and a relaxing 2 minutes from the town centre. This location presents unforgettable views over the fjord and mountains, enjoyed by both you and the owner of the hostel who lives in one half of the building, giving your stay a very homely feel. The hostel offers twin, double and 4 bedded rooms all with shared facilities. Address is Ránargata 9.Hafaldan Hospital Hostel is conveniently located in central Seyðisfjörður in the historic former hospital building. The building was renovated in 2013 to better meet the needs of our guests and we have had a very good feedback from our visitors who rave about the Kitchen and Dining hall as well as the good atmosphere. The hostel offers private double rooms and shared facility double, twin, 4/5 bedded, plus 6 man dormitory rooms. Address is Sudurgata 8.In both buildings we offer great facilities for our guests; excellent common rooms, kitchens, dining and sitting areas, washing machines and free Wi-Fi Internet connection. Bed linen can be rented and breakfast baskets can be bought. Reception service for both hostels is made in the Hafaldan Hospital Hostel until Sept 2014. We are a green HI hostel with an option to recycle. Our compost goes to our “Happy Hens” in Hafaldan Harbour, and you can swap a 100 krona coin in for a fresh egg in our hostels kitchen. This service depends though on the balance between the egg making and staff / guests consumption and we can´t guarantee it. ... more   less
