Stayed here for a 3 night breakfast the beginning of April. I was really worried after reading previous reviews it’s really not that bad. Yes the hotel is under refurbishment so the hotel entrance was full of boxes etc as they are doing up the reception but you’re not there to stay in the reception are you? We arrived early our room wasn’t ready but we found the cleaners and headed to the restaurant attached to the hotel for a drink our room was ready within 30 mins. The room itself was average size with a double bed, hairdryer etc. the bathroom was very small with a small cubicle Shower very dated but did the job. Only bad thing was hairs still present in the shower. 1 pillow each provided so if we went back would definitely ask for another each. Only down side we had no room cleaning during our durations, so towels not changed. I contacted the hotel via phone the day before arrival for the code as I had seen from previous reviews this was an issue, the lady kindly provided unfortunately it didn’t work as we had a arrived early and wasn’t activated until after the 3pm check in time but a quick phone call and all sorted. Breakfast is located in the restaurant next door that’s attached to the hotel. Lovely breakfast with choices of breads and continental meats and cheeses plus cereals. Staff in the restaurant are lovely and very helpful. Location was good slightly out of the centre but we the electric scooters which can be picked up on the walk in. Overall good stay, could be better but would return again and I’m sure after the renovations are complete it will be even better.

You arrive at the hotel and you find the door closed and a message in the door saying you have the code to enter in the email, the problem is that I never received any email! After a very expensive international phone call, when you enter, you discover that there is nobody to help at the reception desk as there is no reception! The are on works. You arrive to the room and you discover that it is smaller than a room in Tokio, without any service (no coffee, no tea, no kettle), with old and worn furniture, without even a nightstand besides the bed. The room is so small that it doesn't even fit 2 suitcases! And the worst thing is the bathroom, you can relieve yourself and shower at the same time since to go to the bathroom you have to put your feet in the shower. Incredible! Of course, no one to leave your suitcase in storage if you want to leave the hotel after 11h. Vews are awful also, a building under construction or a dirty abandoned patio. The only positive thing is that breakfast (at the restaurant in the next building) is correct. I will never come back here, nor recommend. Ther aremuch better hotels near.

This hotel is perfect for those seeking comfort and somewhere to sleep. If you’re after luxury then this is not the hotel for you. Check in was a nightmare to be honest..luckily someone else let us in as we had no idea about the code situation. We were given no information regarding the self check in element of the stay so we arrived pretty peed off already. We must have been allocated the smallest room in the hotel. I could use the toilet and have a shower at the same time! Not the experience I was hoping for. Our room was next to the lift too which woke us up on many occasions in the night. On the plus side, breakfast was okay. You get your basics such as toast, boiled eggs, fruit and cereals. No full breakfast I’m afraid. Partner enjoyed the coffee from the coffee machine in the reception area.. It would have been lovely to have some hot drink facilities in the room after a long, cold day outside however. The bed was super comfy to sleep in so no complaints there. Me and my partner came to explore Iceland and that’s exactly what we did. The hotel provided us a base at the end of a long day. I just hope other people read these reviews beforehand to save on the hassle of check in!

Dreadful hotel, wasted 2 hours of a 3 day short break trying to get into our room as hotel is now electronic check in ( no reception staff) and entrance is via a code to enter into a keypad on the lobby doors.I had to ring a telephone number to an offsite customer services to obtain code for lobby entrance and room. Don't know where they get the photo of the room shown on the internet because ours didn't resemble this at all. Shoddy facilities, appalling bathroom, no tea/coffee facilities.

Not at all what we expected. We arrived in the morning & there was a double door that wouldn’t open apparently you need the key code to enter. Luckily a couple standing in the entrance allowed us access. When we entered there first words to us was ‘Good luck’ straight away this filled me with dread I went to the counter to see receptionists and another guest told me it’s self check in! I’d never heard of self in and was stunned as it certainly didn’t mention this when booking. There was literally not a staff member in sight. So much so that whilst there they actually physically removed reception desk. Sit down it gets worse! We rang the number on the desk & was informed we couldn’t check in till 3pm ok so where do we store our cases! Sorry there is no storage place. At this point I’m really got annoyed so they allowed me to check in! The first night we were exhausted from trips & sight seeing so collapsed into bed. The following morning I went to shower the shower door came off in my hand. There were no curtains up at the non frosted window the toilet flushed itself continuously! We packed up our things for the day and left to do more sight seeing. We went for breakfast not great but toast was ok ran out of tea bags! Not to be replenished that day. We got back to the hotel around 5pm to get changed for our evening meal & rest our tired feet for a minute at this point a family walked into our room. The receptionist (over the phone) gave them our key code! We then had to have it changed. Following this the drilling started, it sounded like they were removing carpets above us. I just couldn’t take it so left the room without the well needed rest. I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Luckily Iceland was amazing and I wouldn’t let the hotel ruin such a magical place

Before you decide to book this hotel please read. Without a doubt and hands down the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. On arrival the glass doors were locked, and you had to put in a code to get in, of which we had not been given or informed of, we looked in and where the reception should have been there was boxes of new floor tiles and a cut out in the carpet, where the reception desk used to be, but no receptionist, once again we had not been informed of this by either. There was a intercom, but it soon became clear that the very unhelpful person on the end of it, was infact somewhere else entirely, and there was nobody in the hotel to assist. As we spoke to the person, who quite clearly couldn't have given less of a fig about us, if she tried, told us that she did not have a reservation for us, and that was that. Luckily it was Saturday morning so I was able to get in touch with the travel agents, Hayes Travel, and she was very helpful, and able to give us the code for the door and a place where we could store our suitcase, until the room was ready. Throughout the holiday, which had been ruined before it even started, we did not see any staff members apart from the resteraunt staff, who didn't have any answers. The room did not have any amenities in, not even a kettle, if you wanted a hot drink, you had to go down to the first floor were the was a coffee machine that didn't work properly, and when we first arrived, work men had completely emptied it of coffee, and there was no one about to refill it. If all this hasn't put you off, then maybe the used syringe outside the hotel will do. If the stars went into minus then this would probably be a more fitting way to inform of the shoddiness of the particular so called hotel.

Myself and my wife stayed at this hotel last week. The hotel itself was well presented if a bit dated. There are no staff - besides housekeeping, so you didn't feel as though you had much comfort in asking for assistance because there was no one to ask. On arrival we couldn't enter the building. Ofcourse, it was before we were here before check in, but there was no information provided until we arrived that this would be an issue. So we were stuck outside with other guests who were in the same position. Once in, all okay. For the 6 nights we stayed we did not receive any housekeeping. If it wasn't for a small note on the entrance door you wouldn't know you had to send them a text, or call them if you needed anything. The breakfast was good. Standard. It was well kept and clean, but like I said before, a bit dated. I'd recommend staying for maybe 1-2 nights for convenience, but not for a long stretch.

There is absolutely no level of service whatsoever at this "hotel". When we booked, the reviews were good, it had a staffed reception and everyone commented on the helpfulness of the staff. Now they have implemented an automated check in system that is absolutely shambolic. There are literally no members of staff to be found anywhere in the building. We were lucky that the code that we were sent allowed us entry to the building when we arrived (we had to help several other people get in during the course of our stay as they code they received didn't even allow them into the building and the telephone number on the sign outside to contact for help is disconnected) - however, we were a group of 5 and were allotted only one small twin room on arrival. We had to call the number and listen to a disembodied voice at the other end search around to find us our rooms and then go on a search of the labyrinthine building trying to find where we all were sleeping. We were a group of women and we were completely spread across the hotel. We were only informed of the renovations work a couple of days before our arrival. See attached pictures showing how the furniture from other rooms is just piled in hallway outside our room whilst this goes on. We had an issue with the toilet in one of our rooms. Despite a call being made to them at 8.30 on the Saturday morning it was beyond the capability of anyone associated with this place to get someone in to fix it at all during our stay (we checked out Tuesday morning). The rooms themselves are clean and the beds comfortable (hence the 2 start rating) but the soundproofing is awful. At no point during our stay did anyone attempt to clean our room or replace the towels. Luckily the housekeeping trollies are abandoned in the corridors every evening so we just helped ourselves to clean towels as we needed them The breakfasts were minimal, exactly the same every day. There is a coffee machine which some reviews made much of, which serves black coffee only and ran out of beans during out stay and obviously because there are no staff in the hotel, didn't get refilled. There are no facilities to make drinks in your room. On our final day we requested use of the luggage store. This is actually via a door on the street. Initially we were informed that our code would be valid until 3pm (useless - our flight was in the evening) so they then assured us our code would last until we needed to collect our things. When we actually went to put out luggage in the room - surprise! the code didn't work so we had to have yet another call to be able to access this most basic of amenities. This is now very much a basic hostel - and it may be priced that way now - but it certainly wasn't advertised as such or priced as such when we booked last year.

Unfortunately I'd have to advise against going here unless the pitfalls are acceptable. On arrival you need to have a code to get into the hotel. This should have been sent by the hotel to you or your travel agent. As we saw a number of people standing outside ringing the emergency bell i'd assume that the hotel isn't passing this on. There is no reception due to refurbishment so no help there. The hotel isn't accessible. My partner has mobility issues and the access to the hotel is a vertical ramp or 6 steps. When inside the hotel there are lips into the corridor and then into the rooms. The code you get gives you access to the hotel and your room. The room number should have been given to you prior to arrival ( not for us ). The rooms are spartan, no tea and coffee facilities, no storage (hangers and a bench) the smallest shower and small towels. The beds are ok but old and the mattresses below par. You need blackout curtains but all you get are roller blinds which aren't enough in winter never mind summer. The hotel is located opposite a building site and above a karate school so anyone in the odd numbered rooms have the joys of building work from 7am and the noise from the karate school most afternoons / evenings. The hotel is on the edge of the main town area so it's buses, taxis or a long walk to get to the main town area. The breakfast is ok, a basic continental version. Two types of cold meat, one type of cheese, some salad and fruit, basic cereal, boiled eggs, bread, jam, marmalade and Nutella, coffee and tea plus apple and orange juice but no pastries. There is a coffee machine in the lobby but it's not well stocked. The heating works well so you wont get cold. If that's ok then go for it.

The hotel and room are clean and comfortable. Breakfast, lunch and evening meal in the attached restaurant very good. The coffee machine in the foyer has a very limited selection, with only similar to cardboard cups which is very inconvenient when you want to carry back to the room via lifts etc. Our room was overlooking the front of the hotel, with a large construction site directly opposite. Workmen commence work about 7am and are noisy all day. Biggest issue was trying to gain access to the hotel. We originally received an email stating that access is available 8am - 8pm, however, this is not the case. Had to phone number provided, very difficult to hear stood outside with construction going on so close by. Once the access code was received access was fine. Suggest calling the hotel before hand for access code. Beware when trying to access the room especially the first time. Place palm over the keypad to illuminate it, then its ok to use.
