When we first arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was lovely, tastefully decorated and furnished. But the pleasant surprise turned into a very unpleasant one. Noise. No soundproofing between rooms, plus wooden floors, and people upstairs who seemed to walk about in heavy boots for hours at a time. Can't imagine what they were doing. But that's not the... More

I stated here for 2 nights while on a tour of Iceland with Alexander Roberts. The facility itself is just ok but carpets and decor are a bit worn. The location is fantastic near meant great restaurants as well as shopping.

It was near shopping district, Harpa concert hall, the harbor, and the city hall, which was convenient for tourists to have a stay after Reykjavik city tour. The guestroom was spacious and well-equipped, and the staff was friendly as well. The only thing that really bothered me the most was its shower room, especially its draining system. The shower room... More

Very good hotel in an excellent location with easy walking to shops and restaurants. Room was well equipped if a little on the small side. The dinner restaurant was very good, reservations are recommended. Buffet breakfast was adequate and the room is crowded, they had to open up the bar for seating. Staff were very helpful with providing information and... More

Trying to find an affordable hotel in Iceland is a challenge. We wanted to find a hotel that was centrally located and would not be to expensive as we needed 3 rooms. We really liked Hotel Reykjavik Centrum. It is within walking distance to all of the fun places to see in downtown. We were there on a Friday night... More

Ended our tour of Iceland here- perfect location for easy access to the Old Harbor, museums, lots of restaurants and shopping. The supermarket three doors down was perfect for quick snacks. yes, the walls are not soundproof but the minimalist wood decor makes the best use of space- once again, high ceilings give an airy feel. Our room faced a... More

Hotels in Iceland were very expensive at the time I was visiting, so overall, this was a great deal for the price. Clean, but nothing fancy. We did not get breakfast included, but would be a good idea if you are planning to head out early (we were there on a Saturday morning and NOTHING was open at 8:30 am).... More

We stayed at this well located hotel for the last 2 nights of our Odysseys Unlimited Tour of Iceland. The hotel is modern and generally good. Rooms are a nice size and bathroom had a heated floor which is a treat. However, our room was never made up after first night, and several of our fellow tour members reported the... More

Loved this hotel. The front desk staff was super friendly I arrived after 10 pm and it ws no problem. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was centrally located. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the Sun Solar sculpture and easy walk to shops and restaurants.

Great place to end or trip. A little hard to find but super rooms and good bar. Located perfectly for heading out for either sightseeing or dinnner. We did get parked in the lot right by the hotel but that was by sheer luck so expect to park a few streets away.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a new first class hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On each side of it, new buildings have been constructed in the likeness of their historic predecessors. The hotel spreads over all three buildings, and is designed in the style found in Reykjavík around 1900. During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath. ... more   less
