Excellent hotel in ideal location in central Reyjavik. Lovely warm rooms with view across local square and church. Within walking distance of all local attractions including Harbour, Exhibition Centre, Pond, Settlement Museum, Cathedral and local cafes.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I visited Reykjavik at the end of our honeymoon, having previously spent 9 days in the US. We stayed at the Kvosin for 3 nights. What a brilliant hotel and beautiful country! The hotel is small, but very well maintained. It is located right in the centre of Downtown, next to a small stone building that we later discovered was the parliament! Also a stones throw from restaurants, bars and importantly ‘buds stop #1’ which is where airport transfers and excursions pick up from, so a perfect location. The reception staff couldn’t have been more friendly and courteous. In particular letting us check in a little early as the Icelandair flights arrive from NY earlier than the check in, and with no sleep we were thankful that they pulled out all the stops to ensure we could check in by 11:00am. The room itself was big (204) and had a small, but comfortable double, with duvet (rather than sheets). Huge and powerful shower with plenty of shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, plus nice big towels. Our room had cooking facilities (which we didn’t use) with a breakfast bar and 2 stools. There is a TV which had 20 or so channels (including UK terrestrial) and was clean and tidy. Breakfast was extra and was very nice. Having experienced the terrible service in the US (honestly, it was awful…) we thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would without question recommend the Kvosin.

This is a wonderful place to stay, especially if your party is larger than two people. We reserved the Bigger Room and it was perfect for the three of us. The location and service is outstanding. There were some tiny annoyances but these would not stop me from staying here again. The bathroom sink was TINY! You could not help but splash water around the sink just by washing your hands. The water pressure is powerful (great thing) and the hot/cold water is instant. But the vessel is just not large enough to keep the water confined to the drain area. In our room, 206, the shower is in the living room. You walk out of the shower directly into the living area, with two large windows overlooking the front just 10 feet away. That was weird. Also, there are no drawers, just shelves. A lot of the rooms had exterior entrances, which means you have to go in through the front, up internal stairs, and then out again to access your room. People walk by your windows so it's best to keep the shades down. Oh, and there is no microwave, just a stove top. The utensils, dishes (Villeroy and Boch!) and cookware (pan and pasta pot) are top quality. Again, none of these are dealbreakers, but they are considerations if any of these things bother you. For the size of the room and the location, this is definitely a five-star rating. Very happy with our stay.

We had the most amazing holiday in Iceland and this great hotel made it all the more special. The apartment was fantastic for our family of 4, we had more than enough room and the amenities were perfect. Having the small kitchen area meant that we could eat some evenings in the apartment which helped keep costs down. The staff were absolutely FANTASTIC and couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The breakfast that was included in our room rate was perfect for setting us up for a day of adventures. The hotel was well located with comfortable cosy beds and there was no noise disturbance at all. All in all we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay and we will definitely be returning. A huge thank you to all of the team at Kvosin Downtown Hotel for their incredible service making our time in Iceland just that bit more special.

There are many things to like about this hotel. First of all, it's the location - all the interesting sights are close enough, the street is not busy etc. Then there is a decent-sized "kitchen area" where you can cook and grab a drink or two. And if you missed that drink - you can simply go downstairs and get one for a lot of money, but it's Iceland, so you should be cool with that. This country is worth every penny anyway. I would gladly stay here again. There is not much not to like. If you want to be really picky, the P1 parking zone next to the hotel doesn't allow you to park for more than 3 hours. I don't get the logic - if I'm the one paying anyway and I'm fine with the price, then it should be my decision to stay there for longer. But that's not the fault of this nice hotel, of course. Luckily, P2 parking zones are close enough, and there are usually a few places available even if you come back in the evening. We also got unlucky with our neighbours - they were having a fight at night right in front of our window. I decided not to punch the guy in the face since Icelandic laws might not tolerate this. But I really wanted to. Once again - the hotel is not responsible for the behaviour of some of their inadequate visitors who don't care about anyone else.

Thank you for sharing your experience and staying with us in the heart of Reykjavik. Yes prices can sometimes be high and we are sorry to hear of a disturbance on the street, this is actually very rare and most likely an isolated incident, but again we are pleased to hear you still enjoyed your stay!

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment - it was perfect for our family of 4. Amenities were great, staff was FANTASTIC, and it was close to everything downtown. Got a great tip from the women that checked us in - she told us to park in the covered garage - it was right around the corner (it was cheaper and more convenient that parking on the street). Very easy to walk to all the shops and restaurants. Can't say enough great things about this hotel/location.

We had wonderful time at Kvosin Downtown Hotel - very comfortable room, beautifully done up, convenient location (Reykjavik is tiny, but still, being right in the middle of things was good) and very helpful staff at the reception. Have I mentioned 24/7 coffee on tap?.. :)

Kvosin Hotel is perfectly situated in Reykjavík. A few minutes from bus stop no.1 where alot of trips go from and only 15mins walk from main bus terminal. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in "biggest" room with 3 children. Had 2 x doubles and a sofa bed. Big spacious apartment with kitchenette. Shower was superb as we're the lovely toiletries. We bought our own breakfast to save on money from local supermarket so can't comment on hotel food. It's only a short walk to harbour & sea fron restaurants and also the cathedral and rainbow road. Due to the eruption we couldn't go to the Blue Lagoon but if you have kids I would recommend the public swimming baths at Laugardalslaug. Under 15s free. Outdoor 50m pool, big kids pool with basketball hoop, ninja course, 8 different hot/cold tubs & steam room. Amazing! We did the golden circle tour, northern lights & snaefellsness peninsula all superb. Buses have WiFi so kids won't get bored! Fabulous hotel & stunning country
