This place was lovely to stay in,good value for money and very central to everything we wanted to do! The decor was beautiful an exactly what we needed in a quite setting but only a 20min leisurely walk to the town centre and 5mins to the bsi (bus station) which is the best place to gets sheeps head in Reykjavik.

Like many other people, we ended up in Iceland for a few days because of the cheap Icelandair flights to Europe. Smaragata was a perfect place to stay because it's walking distance from the bus station (go out the back door, cross the street, pass the statue of running animals and 'do not enter' symbol.) it's a guest house so... We stayed here with our family - As my brothers kids joined us in the last minute, I had to opt for another service apartment in the same area. Smaragata rooms was the 1st choice based on the location. So we opted that my 2 kids & 2 nieces stay in this apartment since our apartment booking was for 2... More

When the taxi dropped us off we thought we were wrong, because the guesthouse really just looked like an ordinary home of someone. Don't let it irritate you. The welcome was very warm and the rooms are wonderful. You can clearly see that they put a lot of work in the decoration and construction of the rooms. The bathrooms are... More

We stayed in the Smaragata rooms for 3 nights. The accommodation comprises of 4 modern, clean and spacious bedrooms in the ground floor of a family home. The accommodation has its own separate entrance as well as 2 excellent shared shower rooms and a fully functional kitchen. The location is great - 2 minutes walk from the BSI bus station,... More

Myself and my partner stayed for two nights over the last weekend. We arrived at the accommodation to be welcomed outside by the host who showed us in and allowed us the choice of rooms which was nice to have the choice. The host also recommended some places to eat which was great to get some local knowledge. We went... More

Nicely decorated and cosy room. Shared but clean and good bathrooms. Kitchen facilities and basic provisions for tea/coffee etc provided which was a nice touch. Also very warm welcome from the owner. Parking no problem despite central location. Recommended!

Excellent place to stay for our 3 nights in Reykjavik. The owner greeted us on arrival and was very nice, the rooms were spotless as were the facilities, kitchen, bathrooms.. Location was perfect, 10 minute walk to the town and a stone throw from bus station to connect with transfers to and from airport. All in all, a very pleasant... More

2 nights in a cosy room very near to the bus terminal - which is especially useful if you're planning on doing one of the many bus tours of the Iceland. We aren't used to staying in accommodation with a shared bathroom but they were spotlessly clean (although the wet-room shower did seem to have a slight drainage problem). Rooms... More

The apartment we stayed in was very stylish and modern, with all you need to cook your own food. The shower was good, and they have a TV in case you want to snuggle up on the sofa after a long day on a cold excursion. Location was great, Reykjavik is very small, and everything is in walking distance. You... More
