The first problem was their 4pm check-in, which is unusually late by hotel standards. And they were unwilling/unable to provide for an early check-in, which is disappointing for travelers who took a redeye and arrive in the morning. They kicked me out of the breakfast room so that they could "clean it" (it looked like they were just sitting down... More

The location on this hotel is great. Breakfast ok, rooms were nice but bathroom not so nice. Most of the receptionist were great but one has to practise her hospitality. There is a sayin' that the customer is always right.. hahahaha Otherwise ok place

On the whole a nice hotel, right on the ocean, terrific location, spectacular breakfast (including cod liver oil!). But the rooms are cramped, carpeting stained, hardly anywhere to leave toiletries in the bathroom (i.e. no hooks, very small shelf). The worst part was that the shower and sink water smelled terribly of sulfer, which permeated the bedroom area.

Overall this was a good accommodation, their restaurant and breakfast are greatly in need of an update. As with many European hotels they mistake the term king bed to mean just put two twin beds side by side. The location was walker and tourist ride friendly. The staff were affable and generally on the helpful side.

I was a bit apprehensive about staying here as it had mixed reviews. We arrived 5 hours before check-in as we had an early flight. Reception were quite suprised to see us. (we later realised people seem to take suit cases to restaurants when early) He apologised as he couldn't find us a room sooner as the room we were... More

Family of four -- and we reserved a family room. Worked Great. There were 2 bedrooms and one with 2 beds. Plus a sitting room. So we could stretch out with the family. The location is fabulous. Both for proximity to sites but easy in/out of city. Room was clean. Nothing fancy but comfortable and good size.

My second time staying at Fosshotel Baron, and like last time, it was a very pleasant stay! It's in a prime location, about a minute walk from Laugavegur, the main shopping street in Reykjavik. Rooms were clean and comfortable with lovely views out over the sea front. I saw some pretty spectacular sunsets! Breakfast was delicious, I'm gluten/dairy free so... More

We got a view of the mountain. Great room for the money... Location is perfect because we have a rental car and there's a free car park and yet the downtown action is a very reasonable walk along the colorful buildings. Breakfast, as others have mentioned is excellent.. e.g. apple and orange juices are fresh and real rather than the... More

I had read quite a few reviews about this hotel and I was a little nervous as to whether it would be OK. My sister and I thought that it was a good place to stay and were very happy with it. It is a 3 star hotel and constantly busy with groups of people coming and going. Despite this,... More

Stayed at Fosshotel Baron twice. The rooms were small and simple, but very unpractical. There were only two power outlets, both 10 centimeters above the floor. Not very useful for a kettle. The showers were too hot to use. I know water comes from natural springs, but 60 degrees celsius is too much for anyone. By the time that issue... More
