I booked the Metropolitan Hotel, because it was one of the least expensive hotels in central Reykjavik. I figured it would be a bit dumpy but would probably suit my needs for a two-night stay.

No signage, arrived in dark, no lights and door locked, we waited until the manager arrived. We Used change room and there were no paper towels,only a cloth towel--which appeared to be used. The carpet on stairway badly frayed and in need of replacement..
