I spent five nights at this excellent hotel, which is about a 20 to 30 (in the snow!) minute walk into the city centre. Everything about the hotel is really excellent, in my opinion: very large, comfortable bedroom with a really comfortble bed, spotlessly clean, efficient reception and all the staff in all areas of the hotel really friendly and all speak perfect English. The restaurant is really great with a fantastic choice of food for both buffet breakfast and dinner; in addition, there is a carvery at dinner. I really cannot fault this hotel and the staff and hope to return again and again to visit this beautiful city.
Although the hotel is near the small airport that services Iceland/Greenland, it was very quiet. The rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. The Lobby is relaxing with plenty of seating. We did not visit the spa which is downstairs on the first level. We did eat a modified dinner at 6 pm, and were told we would have to be done by 7 pm. That is when the reserved dinners start. The limited buffet at the counter was very overpriced and not many choices. We wouldn’t do that again. The breakfast buffet was very good and happened to be included in our tour package. There is a free shuttle run by the nearby Pearl (a great place to visit) and departs regularly from the hotel to the Pearl and then to the harbor area. The hotel had a typed schedule of times. There is also a walking path to the Pearl, but we did not walk there. I had read that the hotels in Iceland are minimalistic and will say that is true. They is why I rated it a 4, if it was in the US, it would be a 3 for me. Don’t expect a hotel like a Hilton or Marriott and you won’t be disappointed.…
We enjoyed the hotel Itself. It was clean. Staff were attentive. Rooms were small but it’s Europe. Bathroom shower was a nice surprise considering what I am used to in Europe. They offered us super early check in for not too much extras since we arrived at 8am which was nice as we had traveled all night. Location is horrible however in my opinion. It’s a 20-35 minute walk to anywhere with anything. In the cold. Lol. They have an on-site expensive restaurant that we did not Enjoy at all and the shuttle that is included ends at 6pm making dinner planning a challenge every night.
We stayed here 2 days before starting our tour and one night at the end of the tour. Very nice hotel but bit far away from downtown. They have a shuttle service from 10-5 but otherwise you will need to dine at the hotel. They have sandwiches and yogurt etc you can purchase at the reception area but the choice is very limited. Very clean and nice hotel.
I will make this review short as TUI have not updated webpage please do not expect burgers, ribs or pizza on half board basis as this is not the case. To use the pool it was around £18 each plus spa treatments and drinks water was free though! Rooms are small but kept very clean.
