slept only one night and due to early flight not enjoyed breakfast. Added value the free parking ,rooms are clean even if slightly smaller than Island average. 10 minutes walking to town center and all attractions
The hotel is a fine, but basic, hotel. The staff kind and in general service minded. Breakfast is very basic, but you can survive starting the day in the breakfast room. The room we very assigned to was rather small. In general the hotel needs basic maintenance to be attractive.
We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our 12 day trip in Iceland. Carpets are dirty are really worn out which gives a bad first impression. Rooms are basic, but all things work including the refrigerator. Pillows are very hard. Second day the electronic room key did not work so went down to the front desk. Key has expired was the reply from the bearded receptionist, no apology at all. New key did work but found the room had not been made up. Back to reception and spoke to Sarah to be told that due to Covid rooms were not being made up unless specifically requested. There was a notice to that effect on the end of the counter but Sarah, who had booked us in had not told us. She seemed to find our irritation amusing. Other receptionists were fine. Breakfast is ok but served in an unattractive below ground level room. Caters primarily for coach trips so gets busy at times. Underground car park is excellent.…
Well this is a good hotel for the free and secure garage parking, but the ad says you will have a balcony with a harbor view and that didn’t happen for us. However we got a quiet room where we slept well and the fridge did a good job of keeping our cheeses chilled. The breakfast was nice but didn’t have much flavor. Coffee from a machine.
Our room was on the 5th floor and the view was great seeing the sea and the mountain. The receptionist were friendly. Lily was especially helpful with finding local spots. The rooms were cleaned regularly...breakfast is decent and delicious. The location is equally very good for walking to tourists hotspots in Reykjavik downtown.
Like most Reykjavik hotels, it has the skinny single beds which are too firm. We had two regular single beds and the third bed was a sleep sofa, but with the mattress just a couple inches off the floor; very awkward to lie down on it. The pillows are the hardest I've ever slept on, and I like firm pillows, but these were like bean bags. Many rooms face an interior courtyard and rooms on the other side. Dozens of rooms looked right into our room: no view but of other rooms. We were on the ground level floor, so it felt like a canyon looming over us. We had a handicap room (not requested, but probably what was available). It was right next to the door to the lobby, so we heard that door slamming all the time. On the good side, the bathroom was quite large, probably to accommodate a wheelchair. The open shower meant that half the bathroom was wet after using the shower, but it did drain. The breakfast is adequate, nothing more. I didn't see any hot food. It had the usual breakfast pastries, sliced meats and cheeses, cereals, etc. At least it comes with the room. There is a double closet and a desk and chair, with a very small flatscreen TV. The room had a refrigerator. The room was clean and functional, but no atmosphere. There wasn't a single piece of art in the room, just bare white walls. This is a place to sleep, but not to hang out in. We didn't use any service so I can't comment on that. Nothing wrong with this hotel, but nothing special either. The location is fairly good as it is a couple blocks from Hlemmur Food Hall and bus station. There are a lot of restaurants and shops on the main street two blocks from the hotel, so you don't need a car.…
Although not in the downtown area, Klettur is nicely located near (1) Bus Stop #12, a major pickup point for Bus Travel Iceland (& many others) and (2) the Hlemmur Bus Center, at which you can get on 14 different city bus lines. Our room had phone, shower, fridge, iron & board, hair dryer, kettle, and TV with 26 channels, including 16 in English. The staff was helpful several times, including when we needed to make travel reservations but our credit cards weren't being accepted online. Our room was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. Free breakfast smorgasbord had more than enough for two meals. Free WiFi worked fine at all times. Unless you need to stay in the downtown, I definitely recommend this place.
Clean and central. Simple furnishing and a comfortable bed. The breakfast every morning was good. Small cups of coffee, which is normal in Europe. We just had a second cup if needed. Lots of families of all ages. We felt comfortable and safe. The WiFi worked easily.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Klettur. What makes this property stand out is its central location and its helpful staff. The front desk is well staffed, patient and helpful. If they don't know the answer to your question, they will make phone calls to find out. It is for this reason that I would consider this hotel again in the future. The cleaning staff is also first class. A very nice breakfast is provided with both traditional and Iceland items. The property is a bit older but its clean and well kept.
Stayed here 3 nights in May 2022. Arrived in the middle of the night and payment was not done although when I booked through their website they said they always take it immediately! Last thing you want to deal with at 3am. Asked for a quiet room which I received. Room was big. Interior more than basic / cheap. Just a place to stay nothing more. Pillows were indeed hard like rocks-terrible, slept on the second blanket. No fan in the bathroom. Breakfast basic and they ask you even to bring back your dishes and separate them yourself, hostel style. For the room cleaning you need to tell them in the morning - incredible - the only thing they do is replace the towels! There is no cleaning, emptying of the trash, making the bed, wishing, putting new tea etc etc. Overall for the price was expecting more. Enjoyed Iceland though, it is the most expensive place I’ve ever been to and 3 days there were more than enough for me. But this hotel needs improvement. Seats at the bar are worn down / dirty. Breakfast tables are not cleaned / disinfected etc.…
