My wife and I along with our adult daughter stayed three nights in a junior suite on the 4th floor. It was very quiet and cozy. I loved their breakfast- fresh warm bread, cheeses, meats, fish, croissants, cereal etc etc. Staff were very friendly. Lots to look at with the art and sculptures that are all around you. The hotel was very accommodating when we needed to store our bags before check in then again after we checked out. It’s just a short 10 minute walk to the center of town. Beds were comfy- I read a review mention the lack of AC during a warm night. There is no AC in Iceland- just open a window and let in the cool night breeze. Or in our case we opened the balcony door- very comfortable. The bathroom is small but sufficient - one issue was the hairdryer cutting out every 10 seconds for some reason. Finally a suggestion for the hotel- oil the hinges on the closet doors- very squeaky. We enjoyed the character of the place and were well treated.

This hotel is full of old style polished wood and big comfy chairs in the lobby. Our suite was roomy and beautiful. King bed! The breakfast was continental style with very fresh breads, meats and fruit. Its location was just a few blocks from the center of town, so quiet but very convenient. The staff was excellent, offering suggestions on where to go and what to see. I would stay there again!

We only stayed one night and I chose that hotel because I have always wanted to try to stay in an old hotel in downtown Reykjavik. We got stuck in the elevator because it’s really small but the staff opened for us quickly. The room was roomy and loved the view. It’s of course an old hotel so there was not air conditioning that sucked because it was very hot when we went to bed. The tv is old but didn’t bother us for the one night stay. I think the worst part was that the shampoo and shower gel was not filled up so I think it was old because it smelled moldy and I couldn’t use it. Kind of expensive and I think they can have it so high because of where they are located. Honestly would not go again and I think something modern is better for me :)

This is my second time staying at this hotel. The first time I stayed was 10 years ago, and my stay really added to my visit, so I booked 2 nights with them again. The room was very comfortable and the staff’s hospitality was excellent. I had emailed their reception a few times, and Kasia was always very responsive and helpful. She was also fantastic in person. She was friendly, helpful, professional and always had a smile to greet us. The other staff was great too. Their breakfast was not the usual buffet, due to Covid restrictions, but a packed meal from one of the best bakeries in Reykjavik. It was delicious too! I can’t wait to return to this hotel in the future!
