This is a classy hotel with a lot of artwork scattered throughout the building. Among the breakfast buffets I've had anywhere. Room is clean and warm. I loved the water kettle and the tea bags in the room. There's also a fridge where one can keep a few groceries. The airport buses don't go immediately to the hotel entrance. From the nearest bus stop it's a 5-10 minute walk. But the hotel location is a great compromise if you have business at the University of Iceland and still want to go to the Reykjavik's main shopping area in the evening. The only minor item I'd recommend the hotel to look into is the Wi-Fi. The signal was sometimes rather weak in my room. I visited during the build-up of the COVID-19 crisis. I really appreciate the professional attitude and courtesy with which the hotel staff still kept the hotel running!

This was an amazing place to stay with friends while on my birthday trip to Iceland. Centrally located with a friendly staff and wonderful drinks. Being here during a pandemic was also wonderful as there was art to be seen around the entire hotel and everything you needed for a great day inside.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews we had seen but in truth were a little disappointed. We could not book into the hotel restaurant, it was fully booked but given it was a Saturday evening then maybe it was not surprising. Having said that we did see the menu and the prices were by far the most expensive we experienced in Iceland. Fortunately the restaurant area in the city was only a 15 minute walk. The staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The hotel whilst being comfortable had a very dated feel to it. The lift was extremely small and old fashioned. We did not stay for breakfast as we had a very early start.

Hotel Holt is situated on a quiet residential streetbut just 5 mins walk to central Reykjavik. It is a fairly small hotel (43 rooms) and is the better for that. It was booked as part of a package with British Airways and we stayed for seven days. Breakfast was included as part of the package. The dining room was roomy and comfortable and there was plenty of choice, including cooked items, cereals, and Continental breakfast items. It was great to have breakfast included as eating out can be very expensive in Iceland. Hotel Holt does look a little old fashioned, it certainly is not based on Scandi minimalism, but it is very comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff without exception were very helpful and friendly and eager to please. Our room was a little on the small side and we could have used a bit more storage, however this was a minor detail and in no way detracted from our holiday. The family owners are art collectors and their Icelandic art and sculpture is in every room and it definitely enhanced our stay. Hotel Holt is highly recommended by us. We loved our first stay in Iceland and would like to return and Hotel Holt would definitely be our preferred hotel.
