I booked a 2-bedroom apartment unit, was given room 201 through self-check-in. Just follow the instruction in the email sent by the hotel to handle the check-in, basically key in the code provided and retrieve key from the key boxes. My unit was huge, with spacious living room, kitchen, dining room and 2 bathrooms. Kitchen is complete with microwave oven, bread toaster, huge refrigerator, dish washer machine, cookeries and utensils. Everything is clean and tidy.
The location is good, the neighbourhood is quiet to ensure a good rest at night and yet within walking distance (approx. 7-10 min) to the downtown Laugavegur shopping area and the landmark Hallgrimskirkja church. There are complimentary car parks available in front and behind the building, but the number of available lots is limited. You need arrive early in order to be able to grab one. I realized many hotel guests would not drive out once they managed to get a complimentary car park.
The water supply has a strong sulphur smell. Although there is a memo in the room which states that it is safe for drinking and usage, but somehow I am still a little uncomfortable to drink the water.

My visit was a week long solo adventure, based out of Reykjavík and the Downtown Apartments. Upon arrival, check in was easy and the host was helpful and friendly. Maps were provided, suggestions given, and helpful advice for navigating the city and tours. They even printed out some of my tour vouchers so I had hard copies.
The double room booked was spacious and had everything I needed; the double bed was comfortable, and the place was overall quiet. If from the States, their double room was very similar to a standard budget/mid-rate hotel though slightly smaller (like bathroom).
Location was excellent to Downtown, and I walked everywhere!! Additionally, the bus pick up location is an easy 2 minute walk down the street (though some were happy to pick up or drop off outside the Apartments)
Overall this was a great place to stay, felt safe, comfortable beds/rooms, and had everything needed for a “self-serve” stay.

Good location with just a 5 min walk in to the town center. The room is well equipped with a kitchenette with everything you need to be able to cook a few easy meals for a few nights. Microwave, 2 ring electric hob, toaster, kettle, utensils, small table. The ensuit was fine with hot powerful shower. Free car parking around the back of the hotel. The room has a large radiator that was controllable.
We stayed in room 9 which was not in a good location, ground floor next to reception, the rear exit and some sort of noisy mechanical device that turned on at regular intervals.
Overall good place to stay for a few nights.

We stayed in a small studio apartment. Was good to make use of small kitchenette as eating out in Iceland is VERY expensive. The room was basic & a bit old & worn but comfortable enough. It is 5 minute walk from downtown but a good half hour walk from all the museums which are at the other end of town - reykjavik is quite spread out. Best bit was free use of washing machine & dryer

This is the second time we stayed here (too busy to write review after last time) – so April for 2 days 2019 and again for first and last fay of our holiday in January 2020. Very pleased with everything, with a few minor problems.
Good location – central and easy to find and walking distance to much in centre of Reykjavik. Parking has never been a problem for us and entrance door from parking at back into back of building too, with access that is easy to basement room we had been allocated.
The rooms are small with no thought to where visitors can put their luggage- particularly a problem on our first night when we were in a basement twin bed room 2002. We had to move table upside-down. As with many places all over the world, lighting poor and entrance to room is just by entrance to bathroom. This means that even if you take outdoor shows off as soon as enter room, you have had to walk by pathway to bathroom- so not good for bare feet in night.
Our last night in Iceland, we were at the apartment again but we had a major problem, that they really need to sort. We had not received our email of the code to get our room keys before we were about to leave the morning, we were setting off for long drive back to Reykjavik. We sent an urgent email and they fortunately did reply – but beware.
We parked at front this time as in room 112 on ground floor, last room on right, overlooking their car park. Same problem re space for suitcases to be opened and door right by door to bathroom. Badly lit too.
It sounds like I was displeased. I think that for central Reykjavik, it is good. Just a few things could be improved, especially letting guests know in plenty of time their entrance code.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a solo trip to Iceland. Fantastic central location, just a short walk to central Reykjavik (10-15 mins walk at most) and only a few mins walk to a supermarket (5 mins). Bus stop 13 is just down the street, so it is ideal for pick ups if you are doing lots of tours like I did.
The apartments are comfortable. My room was an economy studio, but had everything I needed, including a large fridge, comfortable bed, wardrobe, bathroom with wet room style shower, kettle, microwave, coffee machine and a small dining table. For a solo traveller spending little time there, it was perfect. A couple would be ok but it could be a little cramped if not heading out much. Wifi was good, check in and check out super easy.
I originally booked directly with Downtown Reykjavik Apartments but unfortunately when I tried to amend my booking they just were not getting back to me - so I actually cancelled my original booking directly with them and rebooked through booking.com, which was only slightly more expensive but I felt more comfortable knowing I had a better chance of a reply should there be any issues. However, the stay itself was great and I would definitely stay there again - already planning my next trip!

Our first unit was #106 which is billed as a double studio but which is quite small. The cook top is so small, we could not get more than one pan on even though there are two burners. Also, there is mold in the shower.
We managed to swing an upgrade (for a few more dollars a day) and got the two-room #303. What a great place! Clean, well equipped and no mold! Since the entrance is on a deck, there is a double entrance with a mud room that includes a nice boot step and long shoe horn combo which I wish I could find. We had a view that included the church and a comfortable living area. We cooked at least two meals a day and the kitchen was well equipped with a full-size fridge, decent stove and oven, and plenty of utensils and pans. While there are (free) laundry facilities in the basement, the washer would not spin and the dryer took forever to dry. Still, I would definitely stay in that unit again.

Free parking outside, the accomodation is very warm (under floor heating) and roomy. It is functional and comfortable. Luxurious it is not. We went for 4 days over Christmas and there were 6 of us in 3 bedrooms. Local shops are very close and the self catering kitchen is adequate for even quite adventurous cooking. Big fridge for the beers. Staff are there during the day, and entry code at night. Relaxed accomodation.

Was very happy to stay here with my husband, very clean rooms , comfortable beds , kitchenette equipped with everything, plenty of storage.
It was very easy to get there, and the person in charge is very friendly, we forgot some important details about the booking and all it took was a phonecall while we were on the way from the airport late at night and we got a text back with the information required to get in, and the room assigned to us! Perfect customer service.
Would stay again!

The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful which made our stay much better. The location of the apartments is very handy for walking into the main strip (around 2/3 mins depending on your speed).
The hotel has parking spaces available at the front and back which is really helpful. The have useful facilities like an ice machine, which we used, a washing machine but you have to provide the detergent.
We had the large apartment which was ideal size for 4 adults. The room was very clean and had enough pots and pans should you wish to prepare a meal.
