We had a lovely stay at the Kriunes. It was a very pretty and relaxing vacation. We booked a room with two bedrooms, which are apparently difficult to find in Reykjavik. This was perfect for traveling with a child. We ate several times at the hotel, and the food was great. Although you have to book dinner earlier in the... More

First, if you plan on staying here, you must have a car - it is not close to Reykjavik city center. Located in a suburban residential area, it was pretty difficult to find. The views of the lake are beautiful and it is a very peaceful country-like area with plenty of wildlife viewing. We had some problems with our reservation... More

This was our first night in Iceland and we were looking forward to our stay at this hotel. After having spent one night there, we find this place being overrated at tripadvisor. The reception was very nice and friendly in deed, but our room was average and not outstanding. The location of the hotel is quite far from Reykjavik and... More

The staff was very friendly and the service great. We had an excellent dinner and the breakfast buffet was also good. The rooms are big and comfortable. The hotel is not far from Reykjavík and located directly at a beautiful lake.

Don't confuse yourself as you're driving into a residential neighborhood; you're in the correct place. Cordial staff that was very helpful. Very good breakfast, and a quaint experience away from downtown Reykjavik. Good price. You should enjoy yourself. The fourth star for the experience and service, although not a four star hotel in the traditional sense. Excellent wifi.

Our room had fantastic views which overlooked the lake and whilst basic, it was clean and comfortable. We knew that, naturally being near the lake there was every chance of insects being present but we kept our window open and the blind partially down and did not have too much of a problem. The staff were kind, helpful and very... More

Kriunes Hotel is a great place for a stay with a more homely feel than a lot of the boxy modern hotels. We enjoyed eating a great dinner buffet on arrival - even plenty of gluten free options (you'll likely need to request in advance if required). We were only able to stay one night, and would recommend to others.... More

I'm not sure how it happened, but we seemed to get an absolutely huge room (room 7) with a fantastic panoramic view across the lake. It was like a family suite. Although some of the furniture was a little worn there were 18 chairs for just the two of us! The shower/toilet was a little small in comparison to the... More

We visited Iceland for the first time in February and it was absolutely amazing. The guesthouse we stayed at was so friendly and so helpful we will definitely return. There is a family who run the guesthouse/hotel and nothing is too much trouble. The only downside to the place is if you don't wish to drive you have to walk... More

Fantastic place. The room is gorgeous. Great views. Lovely hot tub and a really nice breakfast. And for a great price. No complaints at all. The staff were very friendly. Need a car really to access town. But plenty of car parking. The lake setting is beautiful, a great introduction to Iceland with plenty of fantastic bird life. Free tea... More
