We stayed at Odinn for a short family break, family of 5 so the ground floor “cosy” apartment was perfect. Easy to access on arrival and very clean. Some basic items already there which was a great help. On the first night someone in one of the other apartments set off the fire alarm and a member of security was straight onsite.
We had also booked a private airport pickup with Odinn tours and Heimir was waiting for us on our arrival, he was welcoming, friendly & very knowledgeable giving us lots of local info - excellent door to door service, even waiting to check we had got into the apartment ok.
Location was perfect, close to shops, cafes, restaurant and also main bus stops.
Would definitely recommend

My sister and I stayed here for 5 days in August. The manager was attentive, including responding quickly to all email inquiries before arrival, and he cares about the needs of his guests. The guesthouse is exceptionally clean and the daily breakfasts were filling with plenty of variety. It is also an easy walk to all the downtown and main shopping/restaurant areas.

We were here while a lot was happening, with the football team playing, then coming home to a big crowd. Odinn was just far enough away to be quiet, but so close we could come back easily to take a break from downtown activities. Staff/owners were very nice and helpful. The place was very clean and new looking inside. No elevator, so I had to lug bags to the third floor, which was fine for me, but be aware! Breakfast was standard fare. A bit pricier than other similar places we stayed at, but this was Reykjavik, and the location was optimal, so no complaints there. Parking is on the street, but you can pay for all day at one shot -- the machine will print you a ticket to put on your dashboard. They are in the "P2" zone, which I believe was about 1000 kr (about $8) for the day, which is 9 am to 6 pm weekdays. No charge for Sunday or evening parking.

Disappointing. We stayed in Cozy apartment 1. There is graffiti on outside of building. As you walk in youre confronted by the smell of poor drainage. When queried we were fobbed off and told it was the sulphur smell in the water, which it isn't. Although the apartment is advertised as having a refrigerator it does not contain a freezer within the refrigerator. Within other properties which we stayed stating a freezer included doesnt occur. When queried we were told pretty much bad luck, no freezer. The pillows are terrible - flat. This apartment is near the entrance to the two apartments upstairs so when other tenants come in its very noisy. We checked around other accommodation as we were so disappointed by this one and wanted to leave the apartment but were told no refunds.

I had reserved a single room with private bath and a balcony. I ended up with a very small single room on the main floor next to the entry way, with the bathroom adjacent to a room outside the bedroom room that was a kitchen which was shared with two other rooms, although they were not occupied so it was in fact a "private" bathroom. In the room was a low, small single mattress with a light duvet and flat pillow on top, and a small table with a small chair. The room was literally next to the sidewalk at street level and apparently on a bus route as I heard people walking by with roller bags at all hours. The breakfast was on the third floor and, as reported by others, was unremarkable and the same every day: coldcuts, sliced cheese, dry cereal, juice, coffee, a piece of fruit, and make your own toast. The owner/manager was very accommodating and helpful. The guesthouse is ideally located. Just ask specific questions about your room before you book so you know exactly what you are getting. One other inconvenience is that payment is only acceptable IN CASH.

We were very happy with our three nights at Guesthouse Odinn, for the quality of the accommodation, the ideal central location close to shopping and within walking distance of all the attractions we visited. Our room was very nice with a small balcony overlooking the inner courtyard, comfortable bed, bathroom with a view of Hallgrimskirkja tower. We liked the very bright and pleasant breakfast room. Continental breakfast included the usual fruit, meat and cheese, cereal and bread, with coffee and juice. There is also a very nice kitchen for self-catering. The host and hostess were very cheerful and helpful with every question, and even made the phone call for us to have our car rental picked up. We would highly recommend this guesthouse. Payment is by cash only, easily managed with ATM cash machines nearby.

We started our visit to Iceland here. It was in a great location with very quiet and comfortable rooms. It is being renovated and should have an excellent breakfast room when it is done. Nice view of the church from our room. Very friendly owner.

The one bed room is very small.
The walls are so thin that all acivities in neighboruring rooms can be heard. Guests coming to there rooms or sitting in the kitchen keep you awake at night.
The light from the kitchen gets in the room through a small window over the door
the breakfast is no more than acceptable
can not be recomended

Response from GuesthouseOdinn, Manager at Odinn Reykjavik Apartments
Responded Jul 27, 2012
Dear guest, I am very sorry that your stay with us was not in line with your expectation. We have been very fortunate up to this point as the reviews on our accommodation have been quite positive. This is actually the first review which has the rating of "terrible", which of course is shocking for us. Since we took over the Guesthouse from 2005 we have put a lot of effort into offering good service to our guests as well as renovating the house. The guests are very important to us and we do our very best so they will have a pleasant stay with us. True, a single room is our smallest room as it is designated for one person, but still does have the necessity like table, char wardrobe and a good bed. It is unfortunate that you were disturbed by the noise of other guests. We do have rules/guidelines in our guesthouse, which guests will find in the common area, there it is stated that after 23:00 the house should be quiet. In your case where you were disturbed by the guests noisy we would have appreciated if you had informed us during your stay, then I would have had the opportunity to give you a different room and then at the same time hopefully made your stay pleasant. Regarding our breakfast, this is the first complaint we receive from one of our guests. You mentioned that „Breakfast is no more than acceptable“. We are proud of our breakfast buffet table which consists of the following: Muesli, Cheerios, Cornflakes Yogurt (Súrmjólk an Icelandic cultured milk product) and milk Bread and biscuits Cheese, ham, salami, boiled eggs Jam: Strawberry, apricots/oranges Spreads: Honey-nut and chocolate Vegetable (cucumber, tomatoes, paprika) Fruit (apples, oranges, bananas) Coffee and selection of tee With warm regards, Olafur Einarsson

The guesthouse is on top of a hill not far from the Church that looks like a spaceship. The hosts are absolutely charming and so helpful. It's a bright and cosy place to stay in town. It is small and friendly. Breakfast is set on the top floor in front of a large bay window with a stunning view on the city. Cafés, shops, supermarkets are nearby. And it seems that everything is at a walking distance in Reykjavik. I would highly recommend this place.

We were with a group of 11. The appartments were ok to sleep. It needs some fixing, since stuff is broken or a bit old. One appartment had a room with a small 2-person bed and a bunkbed. The rest of the bedrooms were with 2 beds. Seemed the sofa and the windowsill were beds too. There is a TV and dish washer. Hygienic was good.

You will find a bakery at Bergstaðastræti, just a few steps from the Guesthouse where you can buy coffee and bread/cakes. Also, you will find at the square close by a café "C is for Cookie".
Regarding parking there is not a problem to find a parking space in the nearby streets for a small charge between 9am and 6pm during week-days, and between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and free on Sundays.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Best regards,
Olafur
