My husband and I visited Iceland the week before the American Thanksgiving and our stay was perfect. We love staying at boutique hotels when traveling abroad to get a better taste of the culture. Our room was very clean and stylishly designed! Plenty of space for our luggage and setting out our many layers of clothing needed for the daily adventures. The hotel is perfectly located on the Main Street, so you are in walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and a bus stop. Everyone we met at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. While the hotel gave us several amazing recommendations for dinner, nothing was better for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, than the bakery next door! The bread, pastries, jams, coffee, salads, etc are all divine! The hotel also has a breakfast included with our stay that was delicious. They way they make their bread could turn even the most strict anti-gluten person into a bread lover! It was delicious!

Location, location! Sand Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. It is located in the city’s main shopping street, Laugavegur. Being in the city center, it is therefore surrounded by shops, museums, the city’s best restaurants, bars, cafes, and many interesting sites where guests can experience the vibrant city life in Reykjavík. It is a few minutes walk to the famed Hallgrimskirkja. The hotel is very clean, the rooms and bathrooms are newly renovated and modern. Our room size was quite small but we had everything we needed and it was a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great service, it was superb in all levels. Sand Hotel is rated as one of the top hotels in Reykjavik. It definitely did not disappoint. We highly recommend it! We absolutely enjoyed the daily buffet breakfast of salmon, fresh baked croissants and bread. It was everything we expected and more.

My wife and I had a four day break here just before the coronavirus lockdown began. This is a small, very clean hotel and the rooms are comfortable and modern. Good showers too. The buffet breakfast is excellent – there is not a wide choice but the items on offer are more than adequate and of high quality. I thought the bread was divine (it comes from a famous bakery situated right next to the hotel). The staff are young, friendly and efficient and will arrange any trips and let you have any other information you need about Iceland. My wife and I enjoyed Iceland so much that we would like to come back in the summer and we will definitely use this hotel again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in february. Hotel in the centre of Reykjavik, room nice furnished and decorated but small. Big screen tv at the wall, too big for the room, but no connections at all: no netflix, usb disabled. Breakfast area a bit small but good choice of bread and juices.

This was our first night in Iceland before we started our 10 day trip around the country. The hotel was in the middle of the town, walking distance to restaurants, and shops. The front staff was really helpful and friendly. The room we choose was a bit small but very very comfortable. The beds were amazingly comfortable and bathroom was very nice as well. The breakfast was included and the spread was of high quality with lots of variety. The only minor was that parking was not so easy, but this was expected since we were in the center of town.
