The Iceland experience is great but so much better with a stay at Butterfly. In the first place, it's just a short walk to many of the Reykjavik sights, including Harpa and museums and the Old Harbor, as well as a variety of good restaurants. Also shopping on the Laugarvegur is closeby. The rooms are small but cozy, well-heated, clean...

Very pleasant place, close to city center and main attractions. Charming and generous hosts, Jon and family are friendly. They can help to make travel plans and to get to know Icelandic culture better. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Butterfly is in a great location steps from the Old Harbour and very close to downtown too! Everyone was very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the price was good too. If you're renting a car, there is free street parking very close by. Would definitely stay here again :)

The Butterfly had a very homey feel. Like you were one of the family. Close to everything Reykjavik. I stayed in room #4 with the private bathroom. Roomy, compared to European standards. The only drawback was the self-served (make it yourself) breakfast. Some people may like this, but cooking is not vacation to me. All in all, well worth a...

In our return trip to Iceland, this time with toddler, we spent the first three days in Reykjavik. I contacted Jon (owner) via e-mail a good 4 months or so in advance. Jon has always been quick to respond and very helpful with planning tips and advice, not only for Reykjavik but from his own experiences travelling with family in...

We stayed at the Butterfly Guesthouse in May 2015, laying over in Reykjavik for 4 days en route to Finland. The place is almost more like a hostel than a B&B: guests prepare their own breakfast from food which is provided. Overall we gave it a 4 Value --- Price was 124 Euros per night which may be average for...

Stayed here 5 nights and loved it. Jon was always extremely fast to respond to e-mails during the booking process and on our intended arrival day when we had a flight cancellation. We had the studio room with the kitchenette and it was very roomy. The beds were also very comfortable. The locations was perfect. It was very quiet and...

Stayed here for 3 nights. It's conveniently located in a quiet street but still in the very center of Reykjavik, close to the city's main attractions. It's not very expensive (not for Reykjavik prices, at least) and they offer you breakfast, which includes a nice selection of products (fruit, bread, jam, ham, eggs, skyr, cereals, milk, coffee, tea, etc). The...

I had a great experience here. The innkeeper (Jon) and his wife are accommodating and helpful and keep a clean and orderly guesthouse. The location is great and is easy walking distance to the downtown area and the bay. We landed right after a volcano went off near vatnajokull AND a tropical storm hit....Jon helped us to re-plan our trip...

Butterfly Guesthouse is well located. Our family stayed at the guesthouse when we arrived in Reykjavik-- and again on our departure( we liked it that much). The owners were lovely. Helped us with maps, city/country questions and made us feel very welcome. The apartments were a cozy home away from home. Perfect location for us --locals up and down the...
