I stayed at the Butterfly Guesthouse with my family last year, and we would definitely stay here again. Jon made us feel at home and provided helpful tips. My 4 year-old child really enjoyed the stay and still speaks about the good memories of staying at the Butterfly house. I meant to write this positive review earlier, better late than never. I recommend this guesthouse for the excellent value and location. Thank you Jon.

I spent last weekend at Butterfly Guesthouse. Again. It’s always easy to choose Butterfly Guesthouse, I am guaranteed friendly professional service, a really clean house, great location and friendly greetings from Jon, the owner. Since my first visit, I’ve always been happy to return. I’ve stayed in several of the rooms, and they’re all comfortable and very clean. Did I say that it was clean? And I’m pretty fussy. This time it was the weekend of the marathon and culture night. I was bringing a friend, who usually stays in high-end hotels. She was really happy with Butterfly Guesthouse. And she raved about how close it was to everything. I could’ve said ‘I told you so’ but instead I was just happy to share my discovery with her. We went to so many things nearby: Harpa three times and whenever we needed to pop by for something or return for a short break, Butterfly Guesthouse with nearby. I was sad to leave, Iceland is beginning to feel like home, and Butterfly Guesthouse is part of that.

We had a lovely room over looking the street with a half bath. Owner Jon met us when we arrived and showed us around. Location is perfect, but walking across the City takes 30 minutes or less. We would absolutely stay at this location again!

Thank you very much Deborah P. We are all smiling here - yes I guess you have had a room with a small bathroom - but it works perfectly. Hope to welcome you again! Jon

I surprised my husband with a weekend away to Iceland to see the northern lights. I booked this guesthouse because of the wonderful reviews and its location. I chose the apartment with private bathroom and kitchen. Very glad I chose this as facilities were excellent. The shower was perfect and being able to cook food with the hob and oven made our stay more affordable. The apartment was large, bed was comfy, and there was a table and chairs to sit on. We were a short walk away from the town and bus stops and there is a shop just on the corner. Didn't meet the owner Jon as we arrived very late Friday and was busy sightseeing Sat and Sun but he left us clear instructions and emailed before our trip which made me feel very welcome. If i visit again I will definitely stay at the butterfly guesthouse.

An ideal location and a wonderful host ! Butterfly Guesthouse is extremely close to the city centre of Reykjavik. It is located in a neighbourhood of Icelandic homes, not just hotels . It is spotlessly clean and quiet, and the atmosphere inside the house is fantastic. Guests can meet in the brand new kitchen (each room has their own shelf in the fridge) or relax in the lovely lounge. I had a double room with private bathroom and it was perfect (the bed was extremely comfortable). Jon is the best host I have ever met : he does everything in his power to make his guests happy and satisfied and he is the kindest person. A note for solo female travellers : Butterfly Guesthouse is the perfect place to stay and the area is very safe (as is Reykjavik and Iceland in general).
