Eyja Guldsmeden is located in the up-and-coming downtown Reykjavik area, offering a view over the city and its signature mountain Esja. The hotel is right off Laugavegur, the main shopping street, and next to Hlemmur Square, the former bus terminal that soon will be turned into a food market with fresh and organic local products. Eyja Guldsmeden is only a short walk from the heart of Reykjavik and all the main city center attractions, including historic buildings, designer shops, diverse restaurants, lively cafés, bars and a vibrant nightlife.

Excellent breakfast with plenty of everything, tasty and great service. You pay for it separately from the room charges but, I think, it is a fair price and the available options, sweet and savory, will cater for everyone. The room was very clean, good space and great decoration. The shower/bathroom also very clean and modern. The views were quite good for a city hotel, with Mt Esja visible in the background. Not bad! The double bed was comfortable and good size for 2 adults and a 2yr old. I will definitely recommend and come back if I’m in the city.

I stayed off and on in the Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel in July 2022. The staff, both day, night, and housekeeping were all kind, friendly and made me feel like long lost family. I checked in very late in the night and met Georgiana, who I cannot speak kinder about. She is professional, kind and thoughtful to all the guest. I met Olga and Emile; the latter makes a fabulous breakfast and is meticulous and courteous to all his guests. I met families, local Bostonians for the weekend, models, and photographers. It is the eclectic mix mosh of my life in NYC and it was wonderful. Food is great, rooms are cozy, and the staff can help you find everything. I had reservations at an airport hotel later and I changed it back to the Eyja, even if it cost more. That energy, vibe and relaxing spaces were all worth it. Thank you to the staff forr making my trim memorable.

This hotel is for single/couples only unless your children are older and can stay by themselves in a separate room. The rooms are very small but super clean. We did have an extra bed in a room but it was extremely tight. Two rollaways would not fit at all if you’re traveling with kids. It is 10 min walking distance to town. Having said that … we thoroughly enjoyed our stays. Staff is extremely friendly and super helpful. There is a really cozy bar and sitting area. After 10 days of traveling this was hands down the best breakfast. If you come down early enough … breads are still warm. Yum!

Room Tip: Rooms and beds are narrow. Not good for traveling with younger kids as there really isn’t room...

We had two rooms on the second floor for a family of four. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Within easy walking distance of the heart of Reykjavik, and easy parking in front of the hotel and across the street. Highly recommend

The rooms are extremely comfortable and those on the front face the sea and mountains, with good views from the upper floors. The service is very good and the staff all very charming. Breakfast is huge and good. Although the hotel is not in the centre, that means you have parking and it’s a very easy/quick walk to lots of restaurants and all the sights and a regular bus a block away. It’s a lively walk along the sea/sculpture path to Harpa via the Sun Voyager. Would happily stay here again.

Our last stop throughout our road trip in Iceland was spent at this hotel in Reykjavik and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision. Modern and comfortable, with friendly staff, and within walking distance to many of the city’s main points of interest and restaurants, it checked off everything we could’ve hoped for.

This hotel was excellent. Staff were superb and really helpful, nothing was too hard. Don’t be put off by the exterior, inside is an eye opener and the room was really nice, well furnished and spotless. The breakfast was really good, a huge choice, could be consider a bit expensive but if you have a good appetite; well worth it. Very slightly outside the city attractions but the additional distance was good to walk off some great meals. When we return we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a long weekend in March. The hotel is beautifully decorated with incredibly friendly staff. We had a beautiful room with an excellent view of the bay. Breakfast was really great with hot and cold options. There was tea and coffee available for guests throughout the day in the restaurant/lobby area as well. The hotel is walking distance from downtown Reykjavik and many of the tour operators can you pick you up and drop you at the hotel directly. Can definitely recommend to anyone wanting a great base in Reykjavik!
