NUMBER OF ROOMS
We had to stay here the night before our flight due to bad weather. The location is amazing because it is literally 3mins walk to the airport but it kind of relies sorely on that. For how much it is, the room is dark and depressing. You guys need to put better lights in the rooms! The bed was so soft I had really bad back ache, I had to see a chiropractor when I got back from one night stay. It was clean though. And if you need to be close to the airport it is the only option (walkable). People were nice and the breakfast was decent too.
This hotel is literally right by the airport- like 150 yard walk outside. We stayed here the night before we flew home (Reykjavik is a good 45 minute drive or bus ride away). It is also next door to the rental car return. Check in was quick (we were able to check in at noon for free). They have a small bar but we didn’t patronize it. The room was a good size- plenty of space. The bathroom had a long counter & full sized shower. NO mini fridge- bummer. The free breakfast was very decent. I have celiac disease & was able to find several things.
I recently had a 17 hour layover returning from the UK, and a friend on Facebook shared a link to the Aurora Star. It worked out perfectly for me. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the terminal and has 24 hour staffing at the front desk, so checking in at 1am was easy. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable, and the rates were very reasonable. Staff was great. In the morning, after I picked up a rental car, I mentioned I was going to see what I could see in a few hours, and the woman at the front desk immediately offered several suggestions of sights to see within an easy drive. She even said that on days like the day I was there (windy and rainy and blustery) there was one particular spot on the coast she really liked to go herself, a place called Brimketil. I am so glad she gave me the advice she did, as I checked out the three locations she suggested and they were spectacular. I really appreciate staff that give that sort of personal help. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to explore the region near the airport or just needs a convenient place to sleep on a layover.…
Big room, good beds and the staff was wonderful. Cleen and comfy and the area in the lobby was very nice. Even tho you are 100 meters from the airport you couldn't hear any noise. I didn't eat breakfast but it sheemd nice.
