I arrived at the hotel after driving for hours. I was there about an hour and 10 mins before the official check-in time of 3pm. I was told that I coudln't check-in unless I was willing to pay 3500kr extra. That sounded ridiculous for an hour extra, especially given low occupancy during COVID. I mentioned that I was leaving the hotel at 5am the next morning, hours before the check-out time, and not even having the breakfast they provide. They said that didn't matter. The room was dusty - there was a film of dust on everything from the remote control to the coffee machine (which was also fogged up), the telephone, and all the countertops. The toilet seat had not been cleaned. YUK. Lastly, a loud and steady drilling started at 6pm. My child needed to go to sleep at 8:30pm and I called the front desk and asked them if they can ask for the drilling to stop. They said that it would go on until 9:30pm. I said that would be unacceptable. We have an early morning flight and need to get some sleep. She said she would talk to them. The drilling stopped. She came by the room to ask me, what my complaint was about as there was no drilling. My child, fortunately, chimed in and said there had been continuous drilling and it just stopped. Great. Always good to question the customer. Especially since she had earlier mentioned that the drilling would go on until 9:30pm. I can't believe I paid 165 euros/night to stay here. I am not sure what the other reviews are talking about - this place is very disappointing.

We booked for two days, hotel is super expensive and they give you very small and terrible rooms! I don’t recommend it at all, there are a lot of much better hotels in the same area and paying the half, we prefer to leave and loose our money

Without a doubt a 5 star hotel. I was staying the the hotel Keflavik guesthouse for 14 days. The room Was clean, heated floors and comfortable bed with tv. The staff was super friendly, helpful and I have never seen a hotels staff team be so accommodating to its guest. We had asked for microwave and espresso machine and the coffee cups to put in the common area, 30 mins later we had them. I think one of the most important things for me when I go to a the hotel is the food. If you go to hotel Keflavik you will not be disappointed, the food is amazing. The breakfast had all the different kinds of breads, fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, and eggs. The KEF burger was perfectly done, and you have to try the coffee creme brulee. Most hotel alway say there WiFi is fast but hotel Keflavik really has been fast. I played a lot of online games and streamed Netflix and Hulu and never once was the WiFi slow or dropped me out of a game. This hotel is amazing if your looking for a great experience and want to be taken care of hotel Keflavik is for you.
