At first we received a tiny twin room (we asked for a double) and we could barely fit our suitcase in there. We asked to change to a bigger room and they were very helpful and nice and moved us to a much nicer and bigger double room. The food was good - we ate there dinner and breakfast.

I think some of the reviews on here are overly harsh...My experience of this place was good, friendly staff, clean room. Shared bathroom but it was clean and had a decent shower. My room also had a hairdryer which was an unexpected bonus. No kettles in the room/ living area however when I asked for a tea in the afternoon... More

Much closer to Svinafell/Skaftafell than anywhere else, the Hof 1 was overpriced and uniquely terrible, maybe the worst place I have ever stayed..ever (and I know bad.) Here is why. With few options in the area for our family ring road trip, we book a pair of rooms at the Hof 1 for the four of us, including breakfast. The... More

For a room that cost 135 Euro , this "hotel" has made me annoyed from the first moment of arriving. The old woman that was at the reception snapped at us (!!!) As unkind, unpatient and uninterested. And i didn't write about the rooms yet. Our bathroom at home is bigger (trust me, I'm from Holland so bathrooms are tiny).... More

This was the only bad experience of our entire trip to Iceland, which is one of the most amazing countries we've ever visited. We stayed in beautiful three-bedroomed cabins for half the price of a room here and to be honest we only booked this hotel because it was so near to an ice cave tour we were doing the... More

We stayed at Hof1 for one night since we booked an ice cave tour leaving from the N1 gas station close by. We booked the twin room with the private bath. This was in the prefab building behind the main building. The room was very small and we could not open the main door and bathroom door at the same... More

On a photography tour of Iceland we stayed in this hotel in Hof. The rooms in the building behind the restaurant were extremely small and we barely had enough room to open our bags. They looked newly updated though and the bathroom, tough small, was adequate. The restaurant was serving a meal and, since there were no other choices, ate... More

This is a nice little country hotel is situated at the bottom of a beautiful rock face cliff on the beautiful southern end of Iceland. The hotel is European feeling with community bathrooms down the hall, a sink in each room and a lounge to congregate and make friends in. There are no restaurants in this village but the hotel... This place has the feel of a ski lodge being both very cozy but also very remote feeling and quiet. The rooms were simple but very conveniently done. There was enough space for all of our bulky winter clothes and boots and my favorite bit... a radiator in the bathroom. It was perfect for drying socks and clothes and having... More

Stayed here for two nights while exploring the east end of Iceland. The dining room produced good food and the breakfasts (included) were excellent. Two bathrooms to share on the second floor - both clean and fully functioning. Also enjoyed the sauna at the end of the day. We stayed in the main house, not the annex, which was full... More
