We stayed for one night for golf in Höfn. The rooms were clean and spacious. Service was outstanding as we could not get a Taxi to downtown for dinner, the host (Ásmundur) gave us a ride. Highly recommended, and the price was right.
The scenery is beautiful for a ride, and the horses are nice. They are very safe and tølts with ease. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and have a great sense of humour. Ásmundur had tips for interesting things to see and experience in the erea. We will stay there again any time!
Loved it there! Nice place and very nice people. Beautyfull area and perfekt for a horseback ride. We went on a nice trip on great horses and saw the nature with a great view of the glacier. Best way to experience the area.
We stayed at Arnanes Country Hotel for two nights on our trip around the Ring Road. We traveled with our four-month-old baby. Asmundur took wonderful care of us during our stay. We were served dinner (one course at a time!) and wine in our room by Asmundur himself, both nights. The food was very good - we particularly loved the pasta with langoustines. My husband (more adventurous than I) tried the Icelandic delicacies: dried fish, and shark, both served with a shot of schnapps. Wine selection was good! Enjoyed a bottle of red each night, as well as a few local beers offered during happy hour. The breakfast was also delicious. The room itself is simple, clean, quiet, and more than enough space for our family of three plus a travel crib (provided by the hotel - thank you!) and tons of luggage. I'm glad I double-checked my room selection on booking.com, as they also offer rooms with shared bathrooms only. Definitely worth it to 'upgrade' to a room with a private bath. Asmundur is a very gracious host; it is very clear that he loves running the hotel and making sure his guests enjoy themselves. He is helpful, but unobtrusive. We were disappointed that horseback riding was not an option at the time of our stay (the first week of September), but were happy enough pulling the car over at every farm nearby and making friends with the horses, free of charge! ;) We had a nice experience in Hofn, both eating langoustine at Pakkhus (wonderful meal!) and shopping for beautiful, well-priced knitwear and other wool goods at Handradinn. Definitely visit the Viking Village film set while you are in the area. It's kind of random, but worth the admission fee. Can get a pretty good cup of coffee from the cafe, as well. Was pretty surreal on a foggy, rainy day.…
After viewing lava fields and treeless land, it was refreshing to find a spot lined with trees. This lovely hotel is outside of Hofn. Clean, large room with excellent bathroom and comfy bed. Breakfast buffet of pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, nuts, seeds, cheeses, and meats.
