This was a nice hotel in a good location. The rooms were spacious and we were happy to have the complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby of the building. Please note that you must check-in at the restaurant/museum that looks like a bookcase. The breakfast included in the rate was very nice and in my opinion, they had the best bread from all of our breakfasts in Iceland. My husband also enjoyed the cured lamb meat selection that was from their farm.
I have stayed in this hotel many times - it is always my booking when I visit Iceland. It is a mere 10 minutes drive to one of Iceland's most iconic sites - Jokulsarlon and the diamond beach. The rooms are all spacious, clean and comfortable - free coffee and tea is always available. The restaurant serves good quality food - my only complaint is that the servings are too large - probably not a complaint that many people would have !! The staff are always friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed staying here. Even the evening walk, about 10 minutes up to the dinner restaurant, being five bombed by Arctic Terns. Liked the view out to yhe islands and reading Thorberger's quotes on the windows. Bought his book, The Stones Speak" and really hotbinto the atmosphere of tge old farm and hus life there asca boy.
I stayed here in March for the night, we got there a little late and were able to catch dinner. The dinner was really good, but a little pricey (which is normal in Iceland). They actually had a good vegetarian option though! The rooms were clean, offered complimentary tea and coffee (although I really was craving hot chocolate and there was none) and the breakfast buffet was AMAZING. Close to the glacier, so location is perfect. I highly recommend.
We visited Hali in February and were stranded for an extra day here by a severe winter storm. Even though we were upset by the situation, we were kept very happy and comfortable by the wonderful staff. The room was spacious and clean and we received a discount due to the inconvenience of being stranded. The restaurant was wonderful as well!
