Hali Country Hotel ticks all the boxes if you want to stay near Jokulsarlon (Glacial Lagoon), Diamond Beach and the ice cave tours (15 min drive). The rooms are comfortable, cozy and warm. Bathroom was clean with hot water. Good WiFi. The food at the restaurant was delicious and I'd highly recommend their sandwiches. The staff was very helpful in accommodating our travel needs. A lot of photo tours prebook rooms here so don't wait until the last minute to get a room!

We stayed here as part of a small tour group. It is only a 10 minute drive from glacier lagoon & diamond beach. The rooms are beautiful & very spacious The breakfast buffet had everything you could think of - bacon, egg, beans, cereal, muslei, cheese, ham, pickled herring, pate, pastries

My husband, 24 year old adult son,and I desired to stay int this area to be close to Vestrahorn and the Diamond Beach Lagoon. Alex is a landscape photographer, and this area allowed us to easy navigate going on the Diamond Cave Tour, visiting the Lagoon, and taking in this region. The restaurant provided us everything...from a tasty buffet breakfast and our evening meals of lamb and Arctic Char! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in giving advice, etc. The building that we stayed in had a great lobby for guests to use in playing games. We played cribbage on our 2 evenings here. One of the buildings has a 'warming' room, that helped dry out some of our wet boots, socks, etc. A wonderful respite and so friendly!

This was a good base of operations for exploring the Skaftafell area: glaciers to the west, seacoast to the south and east. Rooms were simple but comfortable, and we really appreciated the communal drying room after getting soaked in the park. Twin beds with duvet and pillow, very clean, small bathroom, quiet at night. Heat hard to regulate without opening the window. Coffee maker in the foyer. The hotel restaurant is about an 8-minute walk back towards the road. Good continental buffet in the morning with good coffee.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. It was very convenient for Diamond beach, and also for our snow mobile tour.
The room was quite basic, but compared to other hotels I thought it was a reasonable price for the location and facilities.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice, but it did get quite crowded, and I would have liked some food choices to be available in the other dining room, as this would have eased congestion. I think there was coffee, but no one was using it.
We ate in the restaurant twice, and both meals were very good.
We also looked around the museum, which was excellent.

This was a nice hotel in a good location. The rooms were spacious and we were happy to have the complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby of the building. Please note that you must check-in at the restaurant/museum that looks like a bookcase.

The breakfast included in the rate was very nice and in my opinion, they had the best bread from all of our breakfasts in Iceland. My husband also enjoyed the cured lamb meat selection that was from their farm.

Hali Country Hotel is the ultimate in charm and modern amenities situated on the beach with an amazing view of the mountains. It’s centrally located on the south coast ten minutes drive North of Jökulsárlón glacier and the black sand beach attractions and about 45 minutes by car north of Skaftafell National Park. The rooms are very spacious in contrast to we have seen in other parts of Iceland, with gorgeous views of the water or the mountains. There is a restaurant in the main reception area that also houses a cultural museum. The dinner is top quality as we have experienced throughout Iceland along with a very generous spread for breakfast that is typically part of the stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We are planning to return to Iceland and will make this place as our location to explore more the South Coast.

This hotel was ideally sited for some of our trips including Glacier Journey snowmobiling, Glacier Lagoon (RIB trip) and Diamond beach. The hotel is well sited being adjacent to Road 1 (the accommodation is 200yds or so further down from Road 1 so no noise issues) and the restaurant and reception block is also back from the road. The restaurant is excellent with its Icelandic dishes on the menu - I had the Icelandic lamb soup day one as a starter and it was so good I had it on day two as a main course! Our intended stay was for two nights 23 & 24/09 but due to stormy weather and strong winds Road 1 was closed 25/09 and driving prohibited so we had to stay a third night. We were kept appraised of conditions and the road status; the Hotel Manager was a delightful, helpful lady and the Czech Restaurant Manager was friendly and kept us sane. We cannot put into words the efforts they made to make our enforced stay enjoyable under the circumstances, thank you. Our room (43) overlooked the sea to the front with a small paddock of sheep in between - the winds were so strong that part of the paddock's wooden fence blew down so it was a case of one man and no dog rounding up the few sheep that had escaped and getting them back in - a little bit of excitement! Recommended 10/10.

Room Tip: I'd guess all rooms are likely to have good views as well as being comfortably fitted.

We booked our rooms late, only a day in advance and got great rooms for a reasonable price. The rooms where both clean and beautiful. All rules regarding C19 were kept and that was encouraging to see. We had a great breakfast two mornings and one evening dinner at the restaurant. Everything was of great quality and exactly as such country hotel should offer, home baked bread , home made pate, home made meat and of course the evening menu offered only classical Icelandic old dishes as it should. The service was excellent and even later on when we found out that we had forgotten a jacket, we got quick service with one employee bringing the jacket to Reykjavik just two days later. I can recommend this place to anyone.

We left very early for our ice cave tour. It takes roughly an hour and a half to get there. If you are leaving later in the morning expect to a lot of inconsiderate people around you. You will not be able to get great shots of the cave without 50 or so people in your picture.

We travelled to Hali Comfort Hotel in January this year - in a hired Toyota Landcruiser. We had no problems - weather was not that cold - so we didn't have to deal with snow or difficult conditions. But I don't think this would have been a problem - may have slowed things down a bit if it was snowing. We loved having our own car (we were seven) - it allowed us to drive to the glacier lagoon when we wanted - we drove out at night to see the Northern Lights - it was amazing! It is a long drive to do in one day, particularly if you stop at one or two waterfalls along the way - but completely doable - leave Reykjavik early in the morning. We stayed two night at Hali and then one night at Vik on the way back up to Reykjavik. We booked an ice cave tour separately from an operator that picked us up at Hali Hotel.
