We booked this trip through Secret Escapes and advise you to NOT COME HERE as it’s nowhere near anything and therefore you have to get on public transport, get taxis or hire a car to go anywhere. This hotel is terrible. Toilet doesn’t flush properly...More

We hired a car from the airport and it was really easy to find. Located just out of the city, but on a bus route into Reykjavík that only takes 15 mins and only costs £3 return. The hotel rooms are small, beds are comfortable...More

Me and my family stayed at the hotel during our visit to Iceland. Rooms were clean, staff was nice and very nice to have the bus station just outside, and it was just one bus to go down town in Reykjavík. Thank you for having...More

We visited Iceland and stayed at the Nordurey hotel . The hotel is quite away out of Reykavik and not much in the way of restaurants. There is a bus stop outside which takes you into the city but pricey like everything else in Iceland....More

Hotel Hafnarfjordur is a newly build three-star hotel in the capital area of Reykjavik. The centre of the harbour town, which is famous for its stories about elves and mystical beings, is just short distance More away. The hotel is the ideal choice for independent travellers, companies and families for both long and short term stays. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere aims to make guests feel comfortable and to give them a home away from home.We offer 71 deluxe and soundproofed guestrooms with beautiful furniture. The range of accommodation is spacious, bright and well-equipped. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel with non-smoking rooms only. Many of the rooms provide a kitchenette with a microwave oven, a toaster, a refrigerator and all other necessary cooking utilities.Unfortunately we do not have a proper restaurant but if you wish we can recommend you some good ones which are nearby.Hafnarfjordur is Icelands 3rd-biggest community. Hafnarfjordurs harbour is just 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Here you can take a walk and enjoy the sunset. The town has its own culture and entertainment and hosts an annual Viking Festival plus the Bright Days Festival and the Christmas Village. Less

I faced that problem in January, as many others have, due to a 7am flight arrival. I contacted the hotel and was told that there were no rooms they could promise would be available for early check-in. That may or may not... More
A group of five of us will be staying at Nordurey Hotel, Reykjavik Road ( I've noted that there are two Nordurey Hotels, one in Hafnarfjordur and one the other side of Reykjavik!) for 6 nights this February. We have pre- booked an excursion to the Blue Lagoon but nothing else yet!!! We are torn whether to book lots of organised excursions, we feel that you can learn a lot from a good guided tour, or whether to hire a car, risk driving in bad conditions, and attempt to find the best sights on our own. We appreciate that we are based on the outskirts of a town, excursions work out very expensive so if we choose to do a bit of both do you know if it will it be possible to book car hire locally? Or is there much to see within walking distance of the hotel? We intend to get the bus into Reykjavik itself. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
