Stayed her with friends on a three day Reykjavik break, first thoughts on arrival were this is not very close to city centre (about 10min in car),parking is plentiful and this is in a industrial estate.

The taxi from the airport wasn’t sure where this hotel was which didn’t bode well. Arrived on a very wet, windy night and the hotel appeared to be in the middle of an industrial estate. The room was spacious and clean but the bathroom tap...More
When we walked in the lobby smelled like a dirty lavatory. The little bar area was really nice and modern tough. We got the key and walked over to our room. Apparently they were still cleaning our room but that would only take 5 minutes,...More
The room was very small and basic and the bathroom had a smell that was really awful. We asked to be moved and they said that all the rooms were the same and the bathrooms would all smell as the wind makes the drains smell?!...More
It's not a luxury hotel like a five stars hotel, but it's highly recomendable if you realize all pros and cons..price, location, bus station, receptive hotel staff, etc. You can count on the hotel staff even to buy the bus tickets.

Janet, I had wondered about car hire before we went in January, after seeing the weather & road conditions when we arrived I was glad to have booked excursions, the coach drivers are just so more adapted than us to the local conditions & the trips with grayline pick up & drop off right outside the hotel, if u end up in a blizzard u will totally appreciate someone else being responsible for the driving I think ! The South Island tour & geysers were well worth seeing/doing ,I'm not sure you would benefit from car hire as things are fairly sparse there & doesn't seem an awful lot to stumble across .(I could be wrong of course, just my observations ) . Have a great trip :)
