I spent one night while traveling. The room was small but clean and quiet. The kitchen and common room were great for relaxing and eating dinner. Location right in the centre of town, so could walk everywhere. Enjoyed my stay
I spent the weekend there and the location is really good. I could walk everywhere I wanted to go. I recommend this place. There is one downside, of this house, there is no alivater in the house but otherwise everything clean and good.
This place was ok, but a bit too basic and loud. I felt like I was in a hostel, but with my own room. Not even a hot pot to make coffee (yes there is a coffee shop across the street, but I like to drink my coffee in my room before I get ready). Otherwise, the location is absolutely great, and you can walk to everything. The staff both at the hotel, and the restaurant next door (owned by the same people) were all really nice. Recommend if you are on a budget, but I’d bring ear plugs. :)
I traveled in Iceland this summer and stayed at 8 different accommodations and this was the worst one by far. I don't know how much it costs because it was part of a tour, so I can't speak for the value, but I am writing a review to let you know what you can expect. There are two bathrooms per floor (shared by over 10 people) and they are in poor condition, I cringed every time I had to use them, they are messy and dirty. The room we had was quite noisy because you can hear every conversation from the street. The positives were the great location and there is a lovely young lady who checks you in. It might be ok for students on a budget, but for me, that phase is long behind me!
Mitten im Zentrum von Akureyri, trotzdem kein Lärm während der Nachtruhe. Gut ausgestattete Gemeinschaftsküche mit netter Dachterrasse, klare Weiterempfehlung. Right in the center of Akureyri, but still no noise during the night. Well-equipped communal kitchen with a nice roof terrace, clear recommendation.
Stayed in what they call the penthouse. Only because it’s on the top floor. Filthy! Stained towels and sheets. Discolored, faded and holes. Dust, dirt and used tissues and q tips left over from last victim. No air circulation. 80* degrees in room in july. Half of living room has no electricity. I had seen years old reviews with the same complaint yet they don’t fix. Owner suggested we run an extension cord across the LR in through the kitchen. Serious hazard! Still no light! Patio covered with dirt and a broken plant and planter with dirt everywhere. Supposedly still there from a little fire from a smoker a few days ago! Thanks for finally cleaning it up Sonya! Beaten up old door to the shared patio barely closed and was definitely not secured by the remaining last loose latch. Equally unhappy patrons from the hostile wandered in through this door. Got to chat with them and other highly dissatisfied customers. Others were paying for a hostile and were disappointed if not disgusted. I saw them complain to the staff but they just carried on with a blank look on their faces and had nothing to say!? Can you even imagine? I could not sleep in the filth and heat nor complete my two day stay there, and left first thing in the morning. The owners credited my cc and listened to my complaints. Thanks. Anywhere else has to be better. In all of my years of traveling I have NEVER! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.…
The hotel is right in the city center. It is very close to restaurants, cafes, shops. Car parking is available 50 meters from the hotel. The rooms are big with everything you need. On the top floor there is a kitchen and a living room with a terrace with a beautiful view. Shared bathrooms are clean. The only drawback is the noise from the street, it was Saturday but this is not the fault of the hotel but people partying until the morning.
Terrible night above scummy bar. Hotel guests also noisy Noise all night worststay in Akureyri ever uncomfortable. Walls thin. Best go to nordurland Hotel. Receptionist was very pleasant but did not help our night at all
I stayed in May last year and it was beautiful. This time I came a little earlier in April and in wintry weather it was such a cosy place to be. Really comfortable, clean and welcoming. The beds were so comfy, and the rooms had adequate space, a place to hang clothes and a little washbasin too. The shared bathrooms were great too but some rooms have en-suite bathrooms. A friendly cat that mostly sleeps in the reception area. Centrum Hotel next door has a very nice restaurant and we went there a couple of times. Otherwise, we cooked in the upstairs kitchen which has an outdoor terrace with tables and seating and terrific views of the town. Even on a cold wintry day it was warm enough to have the door open on a sunny day. I highly recommend Apótek. Free parking at nearby Hof.
The room was furnished nicely with everything you need, but what really stood out was the common room with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge area and a big terrace, where you could enjoy the view. The best thing was the location.
